  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

Wish I could rate it 0 stars..

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

      On 3rd Charger

I am a die-hard Apple junkie, but this charger is terrible. I'm on my third year of ownership of my MacBook Pro with Retina and also on my third charger. Power Adapter Is Poorly Made and Certainly Not Worth $80

Dear Apple Executives and Technical professionals, I'm genuinely asking, do you honestly read these reviews? If yes, then why are these cords not being reinfo Dear Apple Executives and Technical professionals, I'm genuinely asking, do you honestly read these reviews? If yes, then why are these cords not being reinforced with ???? to prevent the fraying of the cord? There is obviously a problem with the power cords for your MacBooks. I am ordering this power cord, but once it arrives, I plan to WRAP THE VUNERABLE AREAS WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE to prevent the cord from fraying, hopefully. I also will keep it in one location to prevent the possibility of the vunerable places to bend and break. And, when I do need to take it with me, I will wrap this cord carefully and place it in its own special zip lock bag to prevent fraying. It sure would be nice to hear from an Apple representative that a fix for this cord is planned and will be implemented in 2018.

      It overheated and exploded.

Had it under six months and it overheated and exploded when plugged in to a 4-way adapter. It costs £80 to buy a new one. Nuff said.

Designed to last about a year

I am usually impressed with the quality of Apple's products, but I sure hope they've come up with a better version of this power cord by now. It's horrible! On I am usually impressed with the quality of Apple's products, but I sure hope they've come up with a better version of this power cord by now. It's horrible! On my third year with this MacBook and I just ordered my third power cord. They always fray in the same spot close to where the magnet is. Judging by all the one-star ratings, this is a HUGE design flaw. I shouldn't have to shell out $90 a year to prevent my house from burning down.
