Apple 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display)

  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

      On 3rd Charger

I am a die-hard Apple junkie, but this charger is terrible. I'm on my third year of ownership of my MacBook Pro with Retina and also on my third charger. Awful cord

I bought a new, early 2015 MacBook Pro. Within three months the cord right next to the magnetic plug had torn to thee point where I could see the wires inside. With nearly 200 negative reviews here about this product, most of which have the identical problem Apple should redesign these and issue a recall so everyone who bought a Macbook with this power adapter is provided with a new one. Apple has great customer service for problem solving but they don't have any customer service for hardware issues such as these, even if one had bought Apple Care for over $200 with their MacBook. I buy a new MacBook every three years and have for about 20 years now. I'm going to find out how much they value my business and if they don't satisfy me on this issue, I'm going to give serious consideration to switching to a Microsoft Productl

First one needed replacing because the darn thing got so hot that it burned me so I went and got another one, Now my 3 year Apple Care has expired and I will need to buy another one because the entire wire is frayed and a whole mess. It would make sense for this product to get totally revamped with the materials that are currently being used, but what do I know...
