  • Overview

The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

      Poor Product

I've had Macs for over 30 years. By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you ar I've had Macs for over 30 years. By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you are, the adapter breaks and shorts out long before it should; it's the Achilles heel of Apple products. At this writing, my early 2014 Macbook Air is like new, but the AC adapter just shorted out. Please, Apple, there's no reason for this.

      Charger broke within 4 months

After transporting my charger in my backpack, I was surprised to have found the cord to be frayed. Looks like a lot of people are having quality issues as well.

I own the MacBook Pro and a newer Mac air. On the MacBook Pro, I had to replace my cord 3 times in6 yers. On my Mac air, I have had to replace it 2 times in 3 yrs. Now I’ve experienced major crackling, sizzling sounds from 3 of the different cords. They all get VERY hot after a couple hours. These things are over priced for what you get. No Apple product should snap crackle n pop and I’ve experienced it several times with different cords. They burn out quick. Surge protector or not- it doesn’t matter. I WISH WISH WISH they would come up with a better design. I love me some Apple but these chargers are sh#!

The end near the magnetic connector started fraying about a year ago and now it is partially shorted out. I taped it up and have to jiggle it a bit and it will sometimes work and sometimes it won't work. Luckily, I have the Magsafe 1 from my old MacBook Pro with the 1 to 2 adapter. It is in good shape. I just wish they wouldn't be so proprietary about the end connector. I'd love to have a car charger and a battery charger as well. I just don't have the skills or knowledge for the hack, but might give it a shot when my magsafe 2 finally goes out for good. I sure hope Apple made a lot of money on these cheap things. This type of planned obsolescence is abdominal.
