      Yeah they are terrible

I love everything about Apple, except this. They keep breaking and this is ridiculous for twenty bucks a pop. Design change please!!

Apple sinks to new low with these cords

I paid a fortune for my cords because "off brand, inferior cords can ruin you iPhone" I was told by an AT&T rep. Well guess what? The Apple cords don't last. I've had it with this company and its attitude.

An Apple Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

The biggest comp If I purchase an aftermarket cord, I take a chance that it may or may not work consistently. The Apple one will work every time, until it dies. The biggest complaint from many reviewers is that the lifespan is too short and could be made to last longer if Apple invested time and money in exactly that. I am guessing that the cord revenue that Apple generates due to repeated cord purchases is quite substantial. Apple would likely miss out on much of this revenue if they improved on that product. I believe that many Apple customers get that. At what point do this same folks begin to distance themselves from the company because of an unnecessary, pricey, and easily fixable inconvenience. Other institutions have made the same mistake, and have paid for it later in lost profits due to bailing customers. I could see some parachutes deploying in some of the reviews. In short, quality made products keep folks coming back.

It is something with Apple and accessories made rather cheaply. They are quite weak around the point where it connects to your phone. Making sure it is always straight as much as possible can help. I have found discoloration, corrosion, fraying, compound breaks through the protective litter layer, the metal connection snap off, or it does not charge with little sign of physical defect. It might be a major selling strategy to have you replace these so often, but it is rather annoying and I would pay a fair share more for it to last longer or be able to withstand a bit more from regular use. Honestly, I have had way cheaper devices and phones that I have used just as much. They were older and out of date, but their cables always seemed to last many years. Apple, seems to be cutting some corners for profit, and it really shows.
