I have never had an apple product with this terrible of quality. For $50 should definitely last longer especially not used much and always put up when not in use. Would not recommend wasting your money.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

The result is the vid Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

Quality is not the best considering the price 70 $ at staples wrip off ,using everyday for streaming cartoons for my kid , streaming movies . I think apple made this products very fragile to make money of the people . But I don’t give up try to make my adapter last long , here what I think first problem is bending the cord eventually it would brake . So I propose to stiffen the new cord before you put it to use with non conductive material like thin wood sticks to prevent twisting or bending the cord all the time , second problem is overheating , cord get over heated if been used for hours try to give it a brake after watching the show say 1- 1/2 cool it off safely not by ice but other means like cool fan , unplug charging part of the adapter soon as phone charged , place cords and adapter on something material that could absorb all the heat ,avoid loose contacts to prevent heat generation , I was thinking about put a little bit electrical grease like spark plug lube in side my iPhone port to keep contact steady in case if it got warn a little loose to improve conductivity but I haven’t try this so I can’t predict if it would help so it’s up to you . Thank you .

      Don’t buy this

Do these things even have warranty of some sort?? I’ve already bought 4 of them because they don’t even last more than a few months without them just completely Do these things even have warranty of some sort?? I’ve already bought 4 of them because they don’t even last more than a few months without them just completely stop streaming video... yea, connect charger and it works fine but the video just stops working... and it’s the same thing with all of them. I always thought it was my kids messing with it but this last one I took care of it and it was the same freaking problem. I want my money back! (Obviously won’t happen) just frustrated I’ve spent too much on these worthless things.
