    Ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Extreme gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.1 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-design

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Extreme now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-setup

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Extreme and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-share

Share your hard drive or printer.

AirPort Extreme can turn any external USB hard drive into a secure drive you can share across your Wi-Fi network. So all the documents, videos, photos, and other files instantly become available to anyone, Mac and PC users alike. You can even connect a printer and share it wirelessly.

    Compatibility and security.

Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme. That’s because it’s compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac specifications. I thought I was having internet connection issues with my cable provider but turns out it is the airPort Extreme. Too bad, I like apple compatibility and simplicity but the reliability for this product is not there. I do not recommend this.

Apple will not replace even though the device is four months out of warranty. I am very disappointed especially considering the high price of these units. My advice to owners of Airport Extremes that are still in warranty: return the Airport Extreme as soon as you hear a fan noise -- I waited too long.

      Good product

I bought it 2 years ago. The set up was very easy. It works. At some point I had to reboot it once every week due to slow connections. However it fixed it self. I bought it 2 years ago. I wish it had a better analytic management software.

The best router I have ever owned. (Period)

From my experienc This router has been amazing in the 4 years that I have had it. It's a shame Apple doesn't seem to have plans to update it in the near future. From my experience, (I mostly own Apple products, so I can't review its functionality with other hardware and software devices) the ease in which the Airport communicates with my iPhone or any other device is super fast. The Back To My Mac Feature allows me to connect easily with my 4TB LaCie HD. I do not have to worry about the connection because it automatically shows its on the Finder sidebar. All of the port forwarding settings are automatically taken care of and to prevent you from creating conflicting port rules, Airport Utility makes sure to let you know. My only complaint but its not enough to bring it down to 4 stars is that I've only been able to use the WPS feature once successfully and then never again, but there are plenty of ways of configuring a printer. I was not surprised when the rankings for 2016 Wireless Router Satisfaction Report by JD Power, placed Apple at the top of this list. People say Apple doesn't innovate or this company did that first, I answer, "That's true, but they made sure they did it the best."
