  • Overview

The USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter lets you connect your MacBook with USB-C port or MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports to an HDMI display, while also connecting a standard USB device and a USB-C charging cable.

This adapter allows you to mirror your MacBook or MacBook Pro display to your HDMI-enabled TV or display in up to 1080p at 60Hz or UHD (3840 by 2160) at 30Hz. It also outputs video content like movies and captured video. Simply connect the adapter to the USB-C port on your MacBook or any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your MacBook Pro and then to your TV or projector via an HDMI cable (sold separately).

Use the standard USB port to connect devices such as your flash drive or camera or a USB cable for syncing and charging your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. You can also connect a charging cable to the USB-C port to charge your MacBook or MacBook Pro.

Note: The Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter is not compatible with the G-Tech G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Apple part number HF4F2VC/A).

      Expensive Piece of Junk

This is the access If you'd like to spend 80 bucks on an accessory that will cause your external monitor to blink on and off all day long... look no further!!! This is the accessory you've been dreaming of. I've tried different monitors. I've tried different HDMI cables. Nothing seems to help. This thing is incredibly frustrating to use. If you do decide to call support, expect to be on the phone for an hour only to be told "try plugging it into another port" on your single port usb-c macbook...

      WARNING - Bad Hardware

Apple even lists a few drives (including their own SuperDrive, pre 2011) than don't work with this adaptor, but there are more that don't work - both for storage OR Time Machine (!). This is really bizarre since the other USB-C to USB-A adaptor WILL work, but since this adaptor doesn't supply power to your MacBook, it's not a long term solution. In the instances where the Multiport adaptor DOES work with an external hard drive, it can experience drastically reduced speeds and randomly unmount the drive. The straight USB adaptor, with the same drive, does not show these issues. I can't believe Apple put this on the market without 1) more rigorous testing and 2) with this serious an issue. Having an external hard drive work with your laptop is a pretty important requirement. Terrible, terrible piece of equipment. I was an Apple employee and have worked with Macs for decades. This issue was diagnosed with a genius at an Apple Store after we went through several Multiport and regular USB adaptors, and then followed up with additional testing at home. Apple should be ashamed.

      Same problem as everyone else

After reading Best Buy reviews I decided to purchase this. Should've read the Apple reviews also, which I usually do. Flickering screen both on my brand new Mac After reading Best Buy reviews I decided to purchase this. Should've read the Apple reviews also, which I usually do. Flickering screen both on my brand new MacBook Pro, as well as the external display I was connecting to via HDMI. Fortunately the local Apple Store was incredibly helpful as they always are, and not only tried to solution seek with me but also offered a refund immediately. I have the latest software, I have a 5 day old MacBook Pro, so neither of those were the issue. With so many reviews about flickering screens you would hope Apple would correct the issue. Maybe next time. Good thing I love all Apple products now otherwise I'd be even more disappointed.

Doesn't work with external new Dell monitor

Like all the other reviews of this... Something is VERY wrong. The screen turns on/off and flickers sometimes once every 30 seconds, sometimes I get 10 full min Like all the other reviews of this... Something is VERY wrong. The screen turns on/off and flickers sometimes once every 30 seconds, sometimes I get 10 full minutes without flicker. The same HDMI cables works without issues on the exact same monitor with 3 other computers, one of which is my previous Macbook Pro that had its own HDMI port. Its not the monitor, its not the cable, its not the computer. That is verified 100% for certain. It IS the adapter, and it IS rubbish.
