Don't listen to the haters....This is a fantastic "keyboard"

Love at first use. This keyboard is amazing. Yes, it does only cover the front, but so what. Yes, there is no holder for the pencil, but, so what. Yes, the Love at first use. This keyboard is amazing. Yes, it does only cover the front, but so what. Yes, there is no holder for the pencil, but, so what. Yes, there may be some functionality glitches, but again, so what. This Smart "KEYBOARD" for iPad Pro rocks. Apple only promised us a keyboard, and that's what this is. The whiners probably shake their birthday cards for money before they read them, so sad. This is by far the best peripheral keyboard I've ever used in terms of feel and accuracy. Oh, and the feel/look of the materials/design is far from cheap, as mentioned in some other reviews. They nailed it, AGAIN!! Thanks Apple. Bottom Line - Drop the coin and don't look back. This keyboard will transform your iPad Pro into a monster of mayhem.(in a good way). Cheers!!

I make virtually no typing errors on it, and it's proximity to the display makes the combination of a keyboard and the touch screen really work. With my other iPads, I used several aftermarket keyboards and typically abandoned them in a short time. I love this one, and hope that the shortcomings will be resolved soon in software.

      Best keyboard experience

The keyboard might seem a bit on the higher end when it comes to the price, but then it is a pleasure to use. Based on my past experience with Logitech keyboards, I was a bit sceptical in using a keyboard at first but so far have not been disappointed. The quality is excellent, the keyboard works and integrates well with the iPadPro. Some people might want a trackpad - but given it is an iPad, you really do not need any. I recommend to get an Apple Pencil as well.

Pretty good, but the price is a bit much.

I’ll hand it to this cover/keyboard. It’s simple, it works like it’s supposed to. Handy and lightweight. Folds easy and feels good to type on. Heck, I’m using it to write this review. It’s very good at doing what it’s supposed to do, and the shortcut keys are super handy. Only downside is the price. You could probably find a 3 party keyboard for a lot cheaper with better protection. That’s my only gripe. But I wanted to indulge when I picked up the 12.9 iPad Pro 2017 edition, so I bought this with it. Besides the price, I highly recommend.

Horrible product - do not bother

I’m left to conclude that this is an exceptionally flawed product of the likes I have never seen from Apple. I’m uncertain if it is a hardware or software issue, but my keyboard quite simply does not work as advertised. I flip the keyboard to type mode, and the software keyboard remains up and the hardware keyboard unresponsive. I have to disconnect and connect the keyboard anywhere from 5-10 times for it to work. This happens every single time I try to use it. If it is balanced on my lap, a slight movement will disconnect the keyboard and start this process all over again necessitating 5-10 reconnections. As I sit on a cramped airline seat writing this review, I’ve connected and disconnected the keyboard about 15 times and it still refuses to work. I scheduled a Genius Bar appointment, went in and outlined my issue, and was told that this is just how it is with this product. Unbelievable. I thought iOS 11.2 would correct the issue, but it has not. I will continue to complain until Apple does something about this!

Great in theory; Inconsistent in practice

I've had this product for almost two years now and in theory it's perfect: the always on functionality is great and I love only having to charge my iPad. I had I've had this product for almost two years now and in theory it's perfect: the always on functionality is great and I love only having to charge my iPad. I had a Logitech keyboard for my old iPad, which worked great but I never remembered to charge it. The Smart Keyboard eliminates my own human error, which is really convenient given my hectic work schedule. After about a year and a half it became almost completely unusable—my model fell under the extended replacement program, so I got a replacement. Weirdly, however, I was still having issues with the replacement. My iPad still has AppleCare+, so I got my iPad swapped out after some testing at the Genius Bar showed that the continued issues might instead be resulting from the iPad and not the new keyboard. This, unfortunately, didn't solve the issue and I now have a second replacement Smart Keyboard in the course of two weeks. Don't get me wrong, Apple Support nailed it—I'm now working with a brand new keyboard and iPad (well... remanufactured, but same difference), but it's been a needlessly convoluted and frustrating couple of weeks. Hopefully my new (third!) Smart Keyboard works more consistently than my last two. I really want to love this product, but my spotty experience has me thinking that I might just have to live with a 10-20% failure rate that requires me to disconnect and reconnect my keyboard a few times to get it working. First world problems, am I right?
