  • Overview

The Smart Cover for iPad mini 4 is constructed from a single piece of polyurethane to protect the front of your device. It automatically wakes your iPad when opened and puts it to sleep when closed. You can easily fold the Smart Cover into different positions to create a stand for reading, viewing, typing, or making FaceTime calls. And it’s easy to remove, so you can snap it on and off whenever you want.

      Its big!

The Ipad mini 4 cover seems to be designed for an older mini version. It is a few milli-meters bigger than the ipad. its just not a good fit!!

Also to make the Smart Cover and case available only in silicone is a really bad decision. Have you ever heard of static electricity? Please bring back the leather 1 piece Smart Cover similar to the iPad Air 2 that someone else also mentioned. The static generating silicone case and cover are not a good idea for any electronic device especially at the premium prices we pay for Apple products.

      It's ok

It looks good and I like that the iPad switches on/off by just closing the cover. However, it leaves marks on screen due to it's paneled structure. Also, gotta be careful as it comes off easily and sometimes iPad can slide off. Would probably buy the two-sided version if buying next time.

don't make my mistake. don't buy it.

After buying my iPad Mini 4 online, I went to my local Apple store to trade in my Mini 2 and with the trade-in gift card buy for my new device a new smart cover After buying my iPad Mini 4 online, I went to my local Apple store to trade in my Mini 2 and with the trade-in gift card buy for my new device a new smart cover. "This is great!" I thought. "The smart cover price is the same as when I bought the Mini 2 a few years ago!" The surprise: I got home, extracted the cover from its box, and discovered the cover really was just a cover. The back and sides were left bare. It's like buying a car and discovering the price didn't include the engine. Made stranger: Apple doesn't directly sell the back anymore - they call the back the case -- for the iPad Mini 4. "You can get it from a reseller," the support rep told me. The reason? Both the online rep and the sales clerk when I went back to the Apple store to return this rectangle of magnetized polycarbonate, gave me the same reason. The Mini 4 is considered an old device. It's not that old, folks. Apple sold it to me a week ago. Apple is selling it as I write this review. It's not so much old as disdained. Now it's true I could have turned over the store display of the cover and discovered It really only protected the screen. But you know, from the front it looks just like the fully functional one I had bought for the Mini 2. I was happy to spend my trade-in money. It didn't occur to me Apple was running a shell game. Now, if you're still dying to buy this smart cover, there is a reseller on eBay who will sell you its corresponding silicone back, at least while the back is still in stock. You'll have spent almost a hundred dollars to clothe your machine. Or, if you've just discovered your mistake, as I did, you could do what I did. Return the Apple cover (you have 14 days after original purchase, and they don't care that you've mutilated the original packaging), and with your refund money buy a nice functional front-and-back smart cover from any number of third-party merchants for a fraction of the price. With the money left over you can also buy a good screen protector. Don't get me wrong. I love my iPad Mini. It's perfect to carry around, and the 4 is measurably faster than the 2. I don't disdain it. I use it a lot. I chose it over bigger tablets because it suits my needs. But I don't like -- in fact, I disdain -- Apple's silly design decision.

      Ready to return

I didn’t read carefully enough and now that it arrived, I see it doesn’t have a back like my previous case for an iPad mini. I was already annoyed that the mini I didn’t read carefully enough and now that it arrived, I see it doesn’t have a back like my previous case for an iPad mini. I was already annoyed that the mini case doesn’t fit the mini 4. Ok, I figured I’d just return it and buy what I wanted. I want a leather case that has the trifold design. Sadly, it doesn’t exist. Really unhappy. Might return the mini 4, too. Yes, it matters a lot. Too expensive for a front only that doesn’t even seem to fit right. So disappointed.
