  • Overview

The lightweight, durable Smart Cover protects your iPad Pro screen without covering up its aluminum back. For total front-and-back coverage, you can pair it with an iPad Pro Silicone Case. A magnetic hinge aligns the Smart Cover with iPad Pro for a perfect fit and helps it stay put. Open the Smart Cover to wake iPad Pro. Close it and iPad Pro goes to sleep.

It seemed to be just a little thicker than previous versions, it would prop my iPad up nicely. However, when I put the cover on, I was shocked to see that it sticks out past the iPad itself. Apparently, this allows it to sit flush with the optional case you can purchase for another $70. Some may think that those of us who are leaving poor reviews are just OCD, but it is much worse than that. When you fold the cover back to hold the iPad I'm portrait mode, the extra length of the case digs into your hand making it very uncomfortable to use. I will be sending mine back. The first return in my 12 year history as a Apple customer.

I explained what I had read on the internet about the size to the guy working there and he allowed me to open one up and try it before I bought it. As many reviews state, it overhangs the iPad by a few millimeters. When the cover is closed, it's not a huge deal (other then looking sloppy). However when you have the cover folded back, the extra width on it is annoying because it digs into your hand and it makes accessing the volume buttons difficult because of the overhang. I ended up not purchasing one. I understand that it works better if you have the silicone back, but I don't want the extra bulk. I hope they come out with an updated version.

      Great material, bad magnets.

At first it worked great but apparently with time this three little magnets start to wear out, not very safe for when you are watching something and have to catch the iPad in free fall or it'll break against the floor, or in bed and have to put it back every time, tedious.

The main part of the cover is connected to the magnetic attachment strip by two bonded layers of thin plastic material. The layers have de-laminated over the their entire 7.5 inch length and will soon separate completely from the magnetic strip. I unwillingly bought a white cover (there was no longer was a wide choice of colors) which has become very soiled and is very difficult to clean. The inner surface (in contact with screen when closed) has a soft nap which has also become very soiled and which is impossible to clean. All in all, this cover is real disappointment and does not live up to Apple's traditional emphasis on build quality. I cannot recommend it.

Very pricey for something that just feels good in your hands. My iPad doesn't leave the house so I don't need durable corners/covers. If you're tossing your iPad into your car or bag on a regular basis these covers might wear rather quickly. I'll need another type of protective sleeve when I travel. Having said all that, I love the products. They're perfect for my needs, exceeding my expectations.

The cover sticks out a little on the side, but not enough to where it "digs into your hand" or makes the volume buttons inaccessible. It does its job. It protects your iPad and locks/unlocks it when you open or close it. You're all freaking out over nothing.
