Apple Remote with iPod and iPhone

If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers, or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slideshows, and more from across the room. Plug your iPod into the Apple Universal Dock and choose a playlist, slideshow, or video. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up. Just press the Next button on the Apple Remote. Getting a call on your iPhone? Press Pause, then pick up where you left off.

    Apple Remote with Mac

The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos, and DVDs from anywhere in the room. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a movie trailer.

Keep in mind, Apple TV can only connect to one remote at a time. If you wish to play multiple player games, you’ll need an iOS device or controller.

Way too small for anyone to try and keep track of. If I could add up the hours of my life I've spent looking for it in the couch cushions, I could have solved several world problems. I can't wait til the next new technology makes my Apple TV and its devil child spawn remote obsolete. I'm going to destroy this stupid thing...if I can find it. For now I'll just buy a new one to replace the one that's currently AWOL. So annoyed.....

      Apple TV Remote

I have four Apple remotes for my apple tv's and three of the four Apple remotes have failed when trying to use the up button on the remote. Three of my Apple T I have four Apple remotes for my apple tv's and three of the four Apple remotes have failed when trying to use the up button on the remote. Three of my Apple TV remotes up button stopped working. I will be taking them back to the store this morning and hopefully Apple will provide me with three new Apple TV remotes. The fact that 3 of my 4 Apple TV remotes up button doesn't work tells me it is an Apple design flaw or the batch of Apple TV remotes I received shouldn't have passed quality control.

The right/forward button has never worked properly since the day we opened the box. Finally after a year of sticky/intermittent functioning of that button we pried the thing apart (another annoying thing about Apple is they make all their products impossible to get into and fix). We discovered some sort of sticky glue over top of a button that wasn't seated correctly that could not be repaired. While I understand that manufacturing glitches happen, that is not my only issue with this remote. Like another user stated -- by removing all the buttons to have the "coolest" looking remote on the market, Apple has given us a remote that is a headache to use. Constant scrolling, tedious, takes too much time. Yes, our regular TV and video remotes and Comcast remotes are hugely clunky by comparison, but they aren't nearly as annoying to use.

Forced to buy another of these bad remotes

Apple being Apple, I guess we are supposed to move on to the 4th gen 4K Apple TV and next remote design. Not unhappy with current TV so not buying 4K TV just no Apple being Apple, I guess we are supposed to move on to the 4th gen 4K Apple TV and next remote design. Not unhappy with current TV so not buying 4K TV just now--stuck ordering another remote. Up button does not work so we can't scroll up to put in the code to control the TV from our iPhones. From Gen 1 to now every Apple remote has failed--3 in all for us. Same length of time, NONE of our other electronics remotes have failed and work FINE. Low (for Apple) price and margin and never a lot of new news--maybe Apple means to do something "so much greater" but keeps not doing it?...so Apple TV limps along. The designer cares about how COOL the remote LOOKS, but these teeny buttons are not durable and skinny form factor is unforgiving for button rebound from being repeatedly pressed. The remote needs to be bigger and roomier inside so the buttons can do their job. We do not appreciate a remote for how it looks, only what it does and how well it does it. NOT VERY WELL, for this one.

I like the sleek design and simplicity. What i don't llke: the left arrow is really a rewind; the 'MENU' is more of a back button. I would like a real MENU, for, say, turning subtitles off and on. i can never remember how to do it. Other than that, perfection.
