      First impressions are great. How will it fare over time?

      If anyone else is like me and puts their phone through sporadic, heavy use, this may be a great option to avoid excessive cables and having to carry a separate If anyone else is like me and puts their phone through sporadic, heavy use, this may be a great option to avoid excessive cables and having to carry a separate battery or charge cable. I picked up the iPhone 7 today in the 256GB black model and decided to also pick up a black iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case. I definitely tried one out in-store before committing, since they are $100, after all. Inserting the phone into the case is interesting. There is one flexible area on the entire case, about 3/4 of the way up the case if you start from the bottom. From there, you insert your phone almost entirely in line with the case and slide it down, and then the top of the case (the lip) pulls right over the top of the phone. Pretty easy but not exactly intuitive the very first time you do it. Taking it out is the reverse of the process I described. I recommend using two thumbs to slide the phone up once you've taken the lip of the case off the top of the phone. The feel in your hand is great. The protruding speaker section at the bottom makes the balance in your hand a bit different than a standard case, and slightly defeats the purpose of getting the iPhone 7 over the 7 Plus, but I only plan on using this case on days where I know I'll be out a lot. The inside is a velour-like feel that will prevent your phone from getting scratched from trapped debris like some purely silicone cases can do. There is also a status light on the interior of the case showing an orange LED while it charges. I don't yet know what it looks like when fully charged. Your iPhone battery widget will tell you the respective battery levels for the two devices: your phone and the case. From what it appears, the case depletes first while it charges your phone, and then your phone battery is used once your battery case is depleted. The speaker holes are not new speakers and microphones, but instead just holes to allow your voice and/or music to pass through to the phone's speaker and mic. I was informed by the person helping me today at the Apple Store that these are most likely not water resistant like the iPhone 7 -- and I can see why. That velour interior would be wrecked if you got it all wet! Lastly, as you might have figured from my above description, you can charge the case independent of having the phone in it. Right now my phone is on my desk restoring apps from my iCloud backup while the case charges in my Lightning dock. I hope everyone enjoyed this review. What are your thoughts?

      I have had this case for a single day and am already in love. I have not yet received my iPhone 7 in the mail but this case came in yesterday. Currently I am us I have had this case for a single day and am already in love. I have not yet received my iPhone 7 in the mail but this case came in yesterday. Currently I am using it on my 6 just to test it out and i am impressed. I use my phone for work and am constantly on it all day. I have not charged the case or phone in 15 hours, my phone is at 100% battery and the case is at 56%. I could go another day without charging the case and not even touch the charge in my phone until late tomorrow. High five!

      Essential case for those who hate charging their phone constantly

      I purchased this case along for my new iPhone 7. I previously had the Smart Battery case for the 6s and I really enjoyed the extra battery life, usually not hav I purchased this case along for my new iPhone 7. I previously had the Smart Battery case for the 6s and I really enjoyed the extra battery life, usually not having to charge for about 2 days at a time. After about 4 months of ownership the back of the case started showing signs of wear with sections of the silicon looking more used than others. With this new model for the 7 I think they have improved upon the original nicely. The new darker color of the case suits the 7's black color nicely, the older case seemed to have more a dark grey tone to it. Also the larger battery capacity seems to have improved the time between charges as well. I was able to get almost 3 days of battery life since I got the case. I still don't find the astetchics of the case to be particularly good looking but the ergonomics of the case with the battery bulk inset allowing for better grip makes it the best battery case I found to actually hold and use for extended periods of time. I would highly recommend this case.

      This case worked flawlessly for me for 2 months then I started noticing my phone wasn't holding a charge any longer than normal without the case. I plugged it in a few times to check the status of the charge and it would only show my phone charging. the functionality of this case is supposed to show both the case and phone charging simultaneously when plugged in. that's when I noticed my case was defective. Apple should fix this before launching a new version of this accessory for future device launches.

      Fantastic. Long-lasting

      This product is fantastic. It increases charge greatly for iPhone 7. It can easily get you through 2 days of use. Highly recommend.

      Thrilled With the Product

      I read some reviews on here before ultimately deciding to purchase this product. Some I believe was inaccurate when they said the product wasn't good. I have had it for a few days now and have used my phone all day with moderate use with the battery case. I would stop charging the phone when I woke up at 6:30 AM and wouldn't put it back on the charger until I went to bed at 11:00 PM. At the point where I put it on the charger, I still have 100% battery with 20%+ left in the pack. Some people say that they don't like how it constantly charges but I actually prefer this because you don't have to worry about turning the case on like similar cases.

*Testing conducted by Apple in August 2016 using preproduction iPhone 7 units and software paired with preproduction iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case units and preproduction software. Video tests consisted of repeated playback of a 2-hour 23-minute movie purchased from the iTunes Store. Internet tests were conducted over 3G, LTE, and Wi-Fi networks using a dedicated web server, browsing snapshot versions of 20 popular web pages and receiving mail once an hour. Talk time tests were conducted by placing a cellular phone call. All settings were default except: Bluetooth was paired with headphones; Wi-Fi was associated with a network for all but the Internet 3G and Internet LTE tests; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off. All battery claims depend on network configuration and many other factors; actual results will vary.
