Can you mount external drives via the display?
I was hoping I could use one of the USB-C ports to run an external HD for my time machine backup. Sadly, my external drive is not mounting. However, when I plug in a USB-C flash drive, it does mount.

I mount a time machine backup drive via a USB C port on the monitor, so it is possible.

As others have said, it's possible to mount external HDs directly - I have two running from my 5k monitor.
