It will definitely not work on my macbook pro 17" 2010, despite what they say at the Apple Store, and despite what Apple technical support says. I found this out after the display was delivered, despite my best attempts to make sure I was buying a compatible display.

Likewise, I have a MBP 17 inch that's "early 2011". Absolutely love this computer. However, the 27 inch external monitor is 'not' compatible to the Apple laptop even through I've connected the thunderbolt cable from the monitor to the computer. The USB cable is also connected to the computer. The LED from the monitor's the power does not turn green (i.e. power on) and the display on the monitor doesn't turn on. The statement by Apple which says the 27 inch display is compatible to thunderbolt computers is not fully accurate not complete. This is disappointing and if someone has a workaround that would be great. Thank you.
