how many Apple TV units can I have on in my home at the same time?
I would love to ditch the local cable company, pick up my local channels over the air and hook an apple tv up to each tv.
How many can I run at the same time?
Do they link to my itune account?
Do they count towards the max number (5) of devices for my itunes account?

To have common access across all devices, they need to be on the same bridged network. The upper limit appears to be about 63 AppleTV devices. We are using 16 in the office using VLANs. These devices are not normally directly connected to iTunes, but they do allow more than one account to be saved. Apple content is normally conveyed using AirPlay. I don't know if that helps.
