How to buy iPhone 7 unlocked phone without contract from USA

Sadly none of these answers help. I believe you must go to an Apple store in order to buy an unlocked phone. The one you want is the Verizon phone which does include CDMA and GSM. The Tmobile one is GSM only. But going through the Apple site online or through the app doesn't work as they require you to have an existing contract with a carrier. Im in the same boat as I just want to buy an unlocked iPhone 7 Plus without a contract even though I'm a Tmobile customer. Traveling internationally though, I want to be able to buy a local sim card as needed.

  • All the iPhones are unlocked, you can buy any of them. You will pay full price. Just make sure and buy the right model for your country, for example:

    The model

    AT&T - only GSM
Sprint, Verison, T-mobile - GMS and CDMA

  • You would do well to also research what, and/or how many LTE bands the US versions can access. The i phone 6/6s variants came in three types: One for the US market, one for Europe and South America, and one for Asia. All had differing LTE access capabilities.

The Europe/South America version was the most LTE access capable i Phone 6/6s. Thus....for the 6/6s, that version was the best bang-for-buck.

I have not as yet researched the differences for the 7, but its worth looking into for traveler like us! (I'm just still happy with my 6)

  • On TMobile, you don't need a SIM card overseas. As soon as you arrive you'll get a text from T-Mobile saying you have unlimited data, calls $.20 a minute! Data is a bit slow, but for texts and email, it's great. Love this about tmobile!
