Is the generation 5 nano able to have other apps such as games?

Not any more.
According to the 5th Generation Nano's User Guide (page 76), the Nano includes three games (Klondike, Maze, Vortex), and it once was possible to buy more from the iTunes Store.
These were not iPhone/iPod Touch games. The iPod Touch is the only iPod that runs iOS and can take iOS apps. Rather, I believe they were "iPod click wheel games" or close relatives. (Apple Technical Support article HT1460 doesn't list the 5th Generation Nano as one of the types of iPods that can run "iPod click wheel games", but considering what the user manual for your Nano says, maybe HT1460 is just slightly out of date.)
There were almost 50 of these older games for sale at one time, including Lode Runner, The Sims DJ, several sports games, Monopoly, Scrabble, Pole Position: Remix, Tetris, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog. You bought them through the iTunes Store and synced them through iTunes.
Unfortunately, Apple no longer offers them, and since they were never sold via alternate channels (retail CD-ROMs), that means they've gone out of print forever.
