  • Well, the iPod Nano has 7 generations, and the iPod Shuffle has 4. I'm guessing you're talking about the most recent iPod Shuffle.

The iPod Nano (1st Generation) is basically a small version of the iPod Classic.
It cannot play video, but it can hold and show pictures, along with showing which song is being played.
    It has a 176×132 screen.
    It's dimensions are: Height: 89mm (3.46 in.) Width: 41mm (1.61 in.) Depth: 6.9mm (0.27 in.) and weighs 42.5 grams (1.5 oz.)
It has a rated battery life of 14 hours of audio, and 4 hours for a slideshow.
It was released in 3 capacities: 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB. The 1GB (on average) will hold about 250 songs, the 2GB about 500, and the 4GB about 1000 songs.
I have no clue about prices, as the 1st generation was discontinued in September of 2006.

The iPod Shuffle (4th gen, Current gen) is pretty much a little tiny box with a play, pause, volume, next/previous song, shuffle, and off buttons on it. Along with the headphone jack.
    It has absolutely no screen.
    It's dimensions are: Height: 29mm (1.14 in.) Width: 31.6mm (1.24 in.) Depth: 8.7mm (0.34 in.) and weighs 12.5 grams (0.44 oz.)
It has a rated battery life of 15 hours.
It has only 1 capacity: 2GB, which is, as I stated before, and average of 500 songs
    The shuffle currently costs $49.00.

So if you ask me, I would go for the Nano, if you want a screen and can get the 4 GB version. If you don't care about the screen, and can't get the 4GB version of the Nano, go for the Shuffle. The Shuffle also has a clip on it which you can attach to your shirt or pants.
