There is now a new version 2.0 Nest Thermostat available which has additional control capabilities. It may be able to handle just about any additional need like this. Check the web site for more information and specifics.

  • The current version of the Nest thermostat will not control a humidifier. The Nest thermostat has a internal humidity sensor but there is not a humidity set point that you can set. The internal humidity sensor is used by the Nest controlling algorithm. Referenced from thermostatforums.com

  • The whole house humidifier we have installed on our forced air gas furnace has it's own humidity controller. It is not linked to our thermostat. I guess it depends how your HVAC system is set up.
Our Nest is very easy to use and was easy to install and setup. Customer service for Nest has been great during the times I have called. The App to control nest is helpful when we want to change the temp without getting out of bed or while watching a movie. Especially great when we are out all day and want to save energy but have house cooled or heated to a comfortable temp when we arrive at home!

  • Nest thermostats can read humidity levels, but cannot control your humidification and dehumidification systems directly; you'll still need your humidistat(s).

  • If your humidifier and dehumidifier run on their own when the furnace or air conditioning kick in, then it should work perfectly! To my knowledge there's not separate controls on nest to turn off/on the humidifier/dehumidifier, but perhaps that's not such an issue if they run automatically.

  • not according to their website. it doesn't.
