Looks good, feels good, questionable quality?

Within a few months of purchase and not excessive use the left stick sort of broke inside the controller, so that it doesn't stay centered and becomes impossible to use for game play. It basically stuck in one direction and since there is no way of turning that input off the controller is now useless. I've seen other folks here report similar issues, so quality may be a problem.

    Seems to work well

My son saved up for this and seems to be enjoying it very much. One question - why no charging cable? Seems to be reasonably standard with most products that you can get a cable that charges them...

    Good Quality, Good Service

Bought this for Christmas this past year. It paired up perfectly, worked great. Use it mostly for Zen Pinball. After about a month of use, the left trigger began to stick. Called Apple, and they gladly replaced it with a new one

Not sure if this is an issue with this controller, but the right trigger is fine. I read other reviews on this and no one has complained of this problem, so I am assuming it is not a common issue.

    One year later, running great

Had this controller for over a year now and I've been extremely pleased with it. The d-pad tracks properly for retro games. The battery exceeds my expectations and the weight and feel of the controller are premium. Had been using primarily with my iPhone, but have started using on Mac as well.

    Joysticks get out of alignment

This was a fantastic controller at first. but during the second charge (somewhere around 100 hours of play) the joysticks seemed to go out of alignment, and I can no longer control games reliably.

    Meh build quality

For the first month this controller works great! But I digress, after that month the joysticks are slightly off (i.e. Always slightly up) so the game I'm playing makes me slowly face up. Also Evem with making. Sure the joysticks and such don't get crushed I still have somehow gotten broken pieces floating around inside the controller! And since Apple (or who ever made this) decided to use special 3 prong screws I can't stake it apart and fix it!
Overall, it's ok for light gaming, but if you playgames via streaming (nvidia game stream) a lot for games like fallout 4, payday 2, bo3 the controller is not a very good suit for this.

    The Sticky Stick

Bought this controller for better game play on my MacBook Pro. Tried it out on Gear Up premium version from Steam, after tweaking what button controls what I found that the Right Stick is stuck turning my tank to the lower right position? Both right & left sticks look normal (standing straight up) and feel fine in their movement but when connected to the game the right stick is stuck in lower right corner apparently. No amount of tweaking the game settings or attempts to "unstick" the controller have worked. Simply appears to be a defective controller. I'm going to try to return it to the Apple Store I bought it from but it has been over a month since purchasing, I'm not hopeful.... Also, when connected to the MacBook in place of a BlueTooth mouse shouldn't the controller control the on screen pointer just like the mouse does? It doesn't.

HORIPAD ULTIMATE Wireless Game. Needs more stars.

I love this game controller. I also love the fact that Apple is making products with Lithium ion rechargeable batteries. Their new keyboard and new track pad. Apple has become the most eco friendly company that I know. Even the new remote to the new apple tv is rechargeable. I myself hate disposing of batteries. They are poisonous to our environment. I want to thank everyone at Apple for doing what needs to be done to save our environment. It also saves the customer money because they don't have to buy batteries. :o) I also looked at the other game controller on Apple's site. It's also rechargeable.

    Couldn't get it to pair.

Loved the look and feel, but I could never get it to pair with my Apple TV. The Nimbus works perfectly.

    Quick Instruction Overview

The Horipad Ultimate is only sold in the Apple Store. It works with Apple TV 4th Gen, iOS devices (iPhone 5 and newer, iPad mini, air, pro and iPad 4 or newer) and Macs with Bluetooth 4.1 EDR. This is a 2.4Ghz Bluetooth radio.

You use a LIGHTNING charger to recharge this game controller like you would an iPhone. Orange button slides to power on. The WiFi logo is actually the button to pair Bluetooth. You turn on the controller hit the BT button and on your iOS settings in Bluetooth look for Horipad Ultimate to pair it.

Will sleep after 2 minutes of no pairing. Will sleep after 15 no use if paired. To wake hit the menu button. Slide power button to orange indicator to turn off for transport.

Controller may be paired to multiple devices so if it isn't working in intended device verify it is paired on your device's settings.

If you need to reset HOLD MENU button and the Bluetooth (radio signal logo) button for 5 seconds.

Power level indicator under MENU button - APC 80 hours of use between charges. Recharge takes 3.5 hours. Hope that is helpful. Great game controller!

    Unreliable

Great control for few weeks BUT, after 2 weeks the left stick start to stick in some direction witch lead to different problems as you can imagine, so I am wondering how long it will last I am only playing the ocean Horn game on apple TV (This is a fabulous game WITH a joystick but not without)
Finally I decided to return the apple TV and the joystick. I don't understand that apple do not let apple TV used by example a ps3 or 4 controller it is so much better ...

    Perfect for Apply TV 4

In a sea of MFI gaming controllers that feature older Bluetooth standards and are pretty hit and miss on the new Apple TV, this was the first controller of many that's a consistent hit. Zero lag. Absolutely flawless across the board. Take it from a guy that bought (and returned) many MFI controllers on the way to solid Apple TV gaming. This was where I stopped looking. You should look no further as well.

Perfect Controller-- But Needs OS X Compatibilty

This is one of the finest controllers I've ever used. It works great with my new Apple TV, iPad, and iPhone. I would have given it 5 stars except there is a major problem. Games in OS X do not see, recognize, or use this controller. Since this is sold at the Apple Store with a Mac emblem on the box, it should let me play games I've downloaded from the app store into OS X. I should not have to buy a major controller not sold by Apple. I hope that Apple updates OS X so that I can use this fantastic controller on games located in my Mac Pro. They did a marvelous job with this hardware and I love it. I just wish they add OS X compatibility.

    Incompatible with Feral Interactive games

We got this controller to be able to play Lego Star Wars. When it didn't work, we checked with the game manufacturer and got this response: "We regret to inform you that the Horipad Ultimate controller is not currently supported in any Feral Interactive games. The device does not support standard gamepad protocols, requiring a complete patch for each game, rather than just a simple plug-in file. This makes it problematic to add support for this controller as we are able to do for so many other devices."

This information was not available in the Horipad Ultimate game controller page on the Apple website.

Best iOS controller, but I don't like the button labeling

I play tons of games on PlayStation and Nintendo. While I like the overall quality and DualShock feel of this nice controller, I don't like how the button labels are opposite of Nintendo's. They should have used symbols like Sony and let people map the buttons via an app.

Amazing! ios and Apple TV developers BETTER take advantage

Always have been a big fan of steelseries straightforward design with keyboards.

The same sturdy solid feel comes with the controller. Far from feeling like a cheap madkatz accessory THIS FEELS like it fits within the apple ecosystem.

    Top Notch.

LOVE that it charges off lightning cable too!!

Turns games like OceanHorn from a 1 star rating to a 5 because it woks so well with the game and it feels right!
