    Misleading product!

    • Written by Joseph S from Hayward

Would give it no stars if I could. Purchased the ScanDisk Connect Wireless Stick 200GB at my local Apple store. Was told by Apple employee that it works seamlessly with iTunes music and videos and my iPad2. SO WRONG! Does not do what they say it does. Supposed to be able to stream ITunes movies but that is not true. Talked to ScanDisk support and confirmed that it does NOT play .m4v files. Supposedly its because of the DRM, Digital Rights Management. ScanDisk suggested converting the .m4v files into .mp3 files. TOOOOO much work in converting files. Why sell a product that doesn't work? I will be returning it to the store I bought it from.

    worthless

this is a terrible product. It worked fine the first day I used it, but now it no longer connects. My phone recognizes it, however it says "No Internet Connection". The device is fully charged, but doesn't work. This thing is as effective as a $99 paper clip.

Works well - does what it says it does

After downloading the correct app, this little stick works very well. If you have LOTS of videos to transfer, you will need to pause and recharge the stick a few times. But once they are all transferred, streaming them back is easy and works well. I have uploaded movies to the stick and you can watch them on you iOS device through the app - no issues so far.

After a few different tests, and I'm not sure why it works this way, here is what I have observed (using the 200GB white version via iOS)
    - When it is plugged into a computer or laptop, it is charging and it is recognized as a standard USB thumb drive WITH NO wireless capability
    - This means when it is plugged into a computer or laptop, you cannot stream to or from the stick
    - When it is plugged into a wall charger, it is charging, but still, there is NO WIRELESS capability, meaning while it is plugged into a wall charger, you cannot stream to or from the stick
    - HOWEVER, and it seems to work, when the stick is plugged into a stand alone external battery pack, it appears to charge AND sync at the same time
    - I have plugged it in to an ANKER external/portable single USB-port battery pack and after it starts charging, it somehow re-activates the wifi connection with my iPhone (iPhone 6+, iOS 11.0.2) and it will sync and/or stream content.
    - These are just my observations, and I've only tried it with my ANKER portable battery

    Good luck all!

    Love it

This thing is great. It is perfect for what I need it for. Yes, the streaming time is slow, it’s only a first generation of a product that could be great.

    Does not work as expected

The streaming connection is slow and unreliable even at moderate distances. The device is compact but feels underpowered and in my personal use can barely support 2 devices let alone a third.
