Cannot use it without sharing your medical data with the company.

There's a litany of problems with this tool, from software that re-imports without de-duplicating old measurements (so HealthKit gets filled with useless double and triple-readings), to synchronization that doesn't work without a special code from the company, to it just...forgetting that you have an account.

The worst, in my opinion, is that you CANNOT use this device as just a bluetooth glucose meter. You MUST use their app, and their app REQUIRES that you share your personal medical information with them, their research team, and their 'community'. They claim to anonymize data, but provide absolutely no way to opt out of giving your information to them. They insist that violating your privacy is a feature.

Most places when they use you as a feeder for very personal data, they compensate in some way. Instead OneDrop seems quite happy to bleed( :) ) as much money from users as possible. $100 for the meter, $40/mo. for the strip subscription...and they still demand your medical data.

Avoid. Get a BlueTooth Glucose Monitor whose company isn't as full of itself as this one is.

    love this meter

Logging all my data by hand is really a drag for me, and so I just don't do it that often. That's the best thing about this meter -- I have everything in one place, and my sugars send directly to their app. So cool! So easy. And I can keep track of food and exercise and insulin. If I have to be doing this stuff, it may as well be easy.

    Setup was a breeze!

Took all of about 15 minutes to setup! Works great I’ve been comparing test results to my onetouch ultra. Results have been within 1- 5 points.
After reading all the reviews, I was fully prepared to send it back if I experienced any of the issues that many have shared here... I’m pleased to say that I’ve had no issues with this device, Bluetooth downloads or iPhone app. I am very happy!

    Easy to Use, Flawed Sync

I have used the meter for several months now and mostly happy with the meter and service. The price for the strips is very good and when it works, the meter and App are very easy to use. The strips generally arrive within a week of ordering and the process is very straight forward.

However, I have had ongoing issues trying to get the meter to sync with my phone. It will work for a while, then stop working. Recently I can not re-sync the device at all. I have found the customer service to be very responsive and in fact am in the process now of arranging a call about the sync issue.

Still, the inability to sync on again, off again for months is troublesome. I also, like another reviewer here, find it frustrating that there are no batter replacement instructions to be found. I have suggested a help video or FAQ but to date can't find any way to replace the batteries without possibly damaging the unit. Since resetting or replacing the batteries seems like an easy troubleshooting step, the lack of information is frustrating.

Overall this is a good product and service, but there are some rough edges to be resolved before I can go above 3 stars.

High cost, low quality, poor support

Packaging is beautiful. Unfortunately the meter and lancing device are poorly made of a cheap and flimsy plastic. Not typical of the quality of something that would be sold in an Apple Store.
The screen on the meter is not very bright and is difficult to see outdoors.
Setup was easy and straightforward but the bluetooth stopped working on the meter after 4 days or so. In spite of the fact that the device is a week old, the company would not swap it out for me.
Calling their support phone number is a waste of time. I sat on hold for 27 minutes the first time, 18 minutes the 2nd time and 24 minutes the 3rd time. In each instance, I gave up and hung up.
They do answer emails but the information Is not helpful and they are slow to reply. They also suggest that you call the 800 number (see above).

I really wanted this to work and was willing to overlook the excessive price and poor build quality since its the only meter I could find that interacts with the Apple health app. Sadly, since they won't swap the meter out for me, I will be returning it and switching back to my other device. Unfortunately, I am stuck with 300 test strips in unopened factory sealed boxes because the company won't take them back.

It's too bad you can't rate lower than 1 star.

    1. I order the kit from the Apple store. It is shiny and chrome like all of the great products on the Apple store
    2. I get the stuff. It's cheap and plastic. Yuck.
    3. I try to hook the bluetooth up. It won't work
    4. I get in touch with support who, after a long wait, grumpily infer that it's my fault for not building a profile using my apple account data
    5. Support promises to let me know when it's fixed
    6. They never get back to me.
    7. I try to get the bluetooth hooked up. Finally, after another round with support, the app recognizes the meter.
    8. I go to measure by Blood Glucose and the battery dies.
    9. I email support. They say "go to the store and buy new batteries."
    10. I buy new batteries. I can't figure out how to install. I look for help on the website. There are no battery replacement instructions on the website
    11. I email support. They tell me to read the manual.
    12. I go through the trash to find the manual (most manuals are online but not this one).
    13. I find the manual, figure out how to replace the batteries.
    14. I take my blood glucose. Can't get it to read on the app.
    15. Before I get a chance to ask for help, the batteries die again.
    16. I write to support. They say, 'send proof of purchase and we will replace it."
    17. I give up.

I'd used the Accu Chex Compact Plus for several years. It's HUGE, but I liked the convinence of having 16 lancets loaded at once and that device was very accurate. More downsides for the Compact Plus included the strips/canisters are pricey, and it's ugly (silly, but...). I estimate cutting my strip cost by more than half using One Drop with their unlimited strips.

Some of the upsides of One Drop: Obviously, it looks great and the case works great. Compared to the Compact Plus, it's ridiculously small. It takes getting use to loading strips again, but I can take that trade off. The lancing device is "ok" - I actually use my Fastclix instead. Overall, it's a solid device.

Syncing with my iPhone was kiiiiiiiind of easy. My first several attempts for syncing via bluetooth didn't work. The phone just wouldn't find the device. Then, I went to the site and clicked "Did you buy on the Apple Store? Pair your meter here." Go through that process, then return to the settings on your phone, and pair. Worked like a charm. But, that wasn't the end of my problems. The device wouldn't upload my readings automatically. I tried several things, and nothing. Then, the next day, I went to the app and several readings were ready for upload. Bottom line, have your app open then load a strip. The phone and device will sync and load no problem.

I can easily see where someone not comfortable with, or knowledgable about "tech" would get frustrated and say the product doesn't work. Wrong. It works great.

The app itself is very good. I had to play with it for about a day before I was able to make it "dance." I only with I could load blood pressure also. That's not a big deal, but is part of the reason I didn't give it 5 stars (the other being ease of pairing).

    Diabetes management made simple!

Before getting my chrome, managing my diabetes was a chore… not to mention the other meters available on the market are ugly. With One Drop, I have a beautiful meter, unlimited test strips, my very own diabetes coach, and an awesome app to bring it all together. Very Apple-like in style and ease of use. Definitely recommend!

The hardware itself is beautifully done and it's great not having to worry about test strips since they're all-you-can-eat. And the iPhone app is lovely and really nice to use, as well. Very well done!

    Terrible accuracy

The readings ranged wildly from the get go. I contacted them and after a dozen conversations of them trying to justify why their reader accuracy was so poor they agreed to send a replacement. I waited for several weeks and the replacement never came.

Cancelling the account itself was needlessly cumbersome.

In one of my conversations with them they suggested I should do two readings every time (even though that did not help accuracy at all). I told them they should rename themselves TwoDrops instead of OneDrop.

The product itself looks good online but it's no more than chrome coated cheap plastic.

Overall this was a terrible experience. $100 later and a after lot of frustration and disappointment, I am going back to my AccuCheck Aviva which has always been accurate and never fluctuates more than a few mg, the OneDrop would fluctuate sometimes 50mg and they claimed this was normal ):-(

    Love it!

This meter rocks! I've had diabetes for a long time and I've always been embarrassed to carry around a bulky meter in a frumpy zip up case. When I found the One Drop meter, it was a game changer for me. It's super sleek and makes me feel good about checking my blood sugar. I signed up for the Premium service and now I never have to worry about running out of test strips. This meter is super accurate, comes with an awesome app AND I have access to a CDE right in the app. This is a game changer - I've told all my diabetic friends about it and now I am telling you.

Love the meter + unlimited strips!

The unboxing was magical and set-up was super simple - just go to the website and get your code. It's so liberating to not have to deal with insurance anymore to get test strips. I use at least 200 per month, and with One Drop I'm always 100% covered. Also, I have found the meter and strips to be more accurate than my old meters, which tended to read me a little too low. Now, I use One Drop to calibrate my CGM every day with confidence!

And having all my readings automatically sync with the app has been amazing for me. I'm actually going back and analyzing my data now! There's also a coaching feature included in the subscription, which has great reviews. I haven't tried it out yet, but I hope to soon!

    Sexiest meter!

I have been a diabetic for 22 years and this meter is the first that I am excited and proud to use! Not only does it instantly push my data into the One Drop app for easy data collection but it is also the most attractive meter I have ever used. I have had so many people ask me about it at restaurants, airplanes, etc. and they are always shocked when I tell them it is a glucometer. It works great and I love that I get unlimited test strips so I actually test more and can better manage my diabetes.

I love this product and highly recommend!

    Not Accurate for Me

I have used the One Drop Blood Glucose meter for just under one month, but I am cancelling their Premium subscription which you must have to buy additional test strips, and gives you all the test strips you need each month. This is one of their main selling points, as most insurance plans limit the number of strips you can use per month. But who cares how many strips they are willing to give you, if they are not accurate, as has been my experience. The test strips are manufactured in South Korea. I know device is FDA approved, but has been useless to me. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Sleek design & easy to use!

I love my One Drop Chrome! I find most meters unappealing, but the Chrome is sleek AND easy to use! The meter syncs with the mobile app, allowing me to seamlessly track my blood glucose readings + medications, exercise, and food. It even works on my Apple Watch! Beautiful hardware, functional app, UNLIMITED TEST STRIPS, and access to a diabetes coach--all at a reasonable price. What more do you need?

    Flawed from Start

Excitedly picked up device at Apple Store. Come home. Download app. Follow manual. Go to devices find Pair New Device... Ummmm. No such option. I can choose from types of devices and fine One Drop Meter.... but it says enter code. I do not have a code. No one gave me a code. No code on box that I can identify. So I go to SUBSCRIBE... I need to order a meter. I HAVE A METER! Call 1800 number...it's a voicemail. WOW!
