Don't waist your time and money

    • Written by Karen N from Wauna

I purchased this camera when it first came out about a year and a half ago. I was excited for a Home-kit compatible indoor HD Camera. It seemed to set up easily and hooked up to our iPhones, iPads and MacBook. It would not work with our sons Motorola phone. We have numerous smart devices that we use in our home regularly. Since then it has been nothing but a problem. First of all, it is very difficult to get the recording sensitivity under control. Yes I have gone into the settings and played with the sensitivity. It will either record every insect that flies in front of the lens or it miss an event completely. Maybe it's me and I just haven't mastered that yet. Maybe? Next it regularly looses wifi connection and has to be reset and relinked to the wifi. About 4 times a year, so far, I have had to re-pare it with my Apple devices for whatever reason because it becomes unrecognizable in Home-kit. But the most annoying thing about it is, when it IS working fine when I am on wifi at home, as soon as I leave home and check the camera from LTE about half the time the camera won't respond. Then when I come home and get back on home wifi everything is fine. I don't get it!!!!! This has happened from ALL our Apple devices no matter whether I'm on LTE or wifi, when we are away from home. And again it only happens some/half the time.

I wish we had never purchased this! We also have Arlo security camera outside and have never had a bit of trouble with them. They are easy to set up and control. Work from an app. on the Apple devices but not in Home-kit. We went with the D-Link Omna because it worked with Home-kit. I can't believe Apple even sells this camera! Don't waste your money on this!!!!!!

I can't believe Apple sells this!

The camera is truly a paperweight, please don't waste your money on it.

I bought one to replace an old nest camera system in order to gain HomeKit capability. The camera software and firmware are so buggy along with missing features that other cameras and systems have means it is not worth the switch.

    Look Elsewhere!

I have owned this for two years. Never seems to work. Don't call their support line, its pointless. I was hoping because apple had it on their site it would be a quality camera that worked with all our devices. It also seems that its overheating but they say its normal. don't buy!

    Product is horrible!!!!

    • Written by Runeko L from Medford

I was one of the first purchasers of this product. Bought at $200 dollars. It was expensive enough that I didn't want to replace it and buy another, man was I in for it. Unfortunately, this product has a 1 year warranty. Once it stops connecting to your HomeKit network, it's done. You can't use it any more. It's been just under 2 years since this product came out and it's broken. I am soured from D-Link products and I will never buy another one of their cameras again. $100 a year for a extremely poor quality camera and software that only worked some of the time. Stay away from Omna, stay far away. If I could give it negative stars, I would. The negative for the overheating issues, the horrible file management, the oooooooozzingly slow updates to the software. There are independent developers who update their software in circles around these guys. If you want something that you will use for a while, with constant updated support, which is not unreasonable to ask for a $200 product, then go with someone else. I'm done with these guys.

    Latest update is useless

    • Written by Geoffrey W from London

After the update this past week, I can no longer load any of the recorded footage on the SD card. I have two of these cameras with up to date firmware. Only live view works now. A device with the older app version still loads the footage.

I'm sorry but the product is terrible.

    • Written by Jerby Ainsley L from San Juan

The product is difficult to use, I can't connect to it, I can't view the live feed, no guide on the internet could help me, and no amount of restarting or resetting could let me view the live feed from the camera.

I was really excited about this product, I thought I would be getting something premium to replace what my family was using to monitor the house, but in my situation, I know and I've read on the internet that this product works for other people, but in my situation specifically, it is near literally unusable.

The only thing I can view, is the preview screenshot when I open the app, nothing else. I can't update it, can't register to the omna account, all of them just give error messages about not being on the same network, or not being able to connect to the camera itself. My house only has one router, so how can I not be connected to the same network?

The unit also gets hot, like really hot. My family's using like, 3 different cameras, from different manufacturers, with their own different apps and it's not this difficult to use at all. I'm sorry for the bad review, but I really genuinely wanted this to work, for myself, and possible upgrades to the others, and I'm jealous of the people who are not having problems with this, but I'll have to get rid of this camera and look for a replacement.

    Simple and high quality

    • Written by Scott W from Auburn

Before I bought this I saw the one-star review that said it wouldn't connect so they returned it. Then I read about what may cause this (very simple search - long wireless network name with apostrophe). So I decided to try the Omna 180Cam HD because it seemed like the best fit for us. Unboxed what looked to be a high quality device (it is), Super simple Apple-like setup. Didn't detect my long wireless network name (default Airport Extreme name). Renamed wireless network. iOS devices automatically picked up the name change, TVOS had to be updated manually. Omna app connected (nothing to change - firmware was already up-to-date) picked up the wireless network name and joined easily. This is my first Homekit device. Made sure AppleTV was setup to use Homekit (it was). AppleTV uses my wifes AppleID so I used her phone to setup a couple rooms, added the camera to a room. Then I invited my Apple ID. Viola! My wife and I can easily use the Home app to check on our dog. It works seamlessly whether we are on wifi or cellular including the speaker/microphone. We've been using it for a month now and I'm considering getting another one which caused me to see the reviews again. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I noticed that it gets pretty warm, I may see about having it turn off while we are at home. Also I think D-Link should have included a small microSD card with it.

    Most intuitive setup

    • Written by Roberto D from Miami Beach

Purchased this cam for home monitoring and it has been the easiest setup for any apple HomeKit product I have set up. Great field of view and the SD local storage is a plus specially with how sensitive home footage can be. I recommend this product to any user looking for home security.

    connection problems

    • Written by alexei K from montreal

Some useful info for people who can't connect the cam.
    - If you're using timed access based on your devices' MAC addresses, the camera will not connect
    - If you use DHCP with fixed IPs or fixed IPs only, it's likely not connect

Solutions: (1) Sacrifice your MAC filtering (that's what I did - set "Everyday-All Day" access ON) and (2) let it connect to the first IP it finds itself (this may eventually lead to IP conflicts on your LAN but you may try to extend your IP range to minimize impact).

I'll try to figure out how to let it connect with MAC filtering at least. I'll post if I find a solution.

    Great for nanny-cam

    • Written by Johannes P from Michigan City

Using Apple TV as a hub, this camera is great for me being able to keep an eye on my elderly mother who has Parkensonian symptoms and is prone to falling. She is in a state where she cannot be left alone unattended and when my father is teaching, and I need to be home, if I have errands to run or have to take the dog out, I feel comfortable with this camera being in the room where she watches TV. I can see if she is getting up or about to fall and able to see if she needs me to call for help. The microphone and motion detector is an added plus. My iPhone dings when she moves and allows me to pull up the homekit app and see what she is doing, even when I am at the office 90 miles away. The microphone helps me be able to talk to her, her nurse, CNA or physical therapist when I need to. I am planning to get a couple more for other rooms in the house as she is beginning to walk on her own again.

Dropped Canary for this. If you need a monitoring cam, this is great

    • Written by Stephen B from RALEIGH

So as a security camera the fault is obvious, it's recording to the camera, not the cloud. That can be a pro or con depending on how much you trust other providers with your data.

You can set up notifications and screenshot from your phone. The OMNA app lets you pull from the SD card, overwrite old videos when the card fills up, and disable the LEDs making it blend into the environment a little more.

No monthly fee, homekit integration, and a better camera than Canary makes this an upgrade for me.

    complete fail

    • Written by BENJAMIN C from Escondido

I just wasted several hours trying to get this camera set up and it simply won't connect. And after reading all the forums and apple support, my conclusion is most people have the same issues connecting it to HomeKit either now or later on after they have connected.

    Good but with irritating "flaws".

    • Written by Rolf N from Sollefteå

Yes, some of the reviews states that you can´t connect to your iPhone unless you´re on the same network. If you are a lucky owner of an Apple TV you can actually watch through the camera app while away from home. Sorry to say my camera didn't´t make it when I installed the firmware upgrade to 1.3. It hung up when installing. Could not reset it. And the camera could not connect to my wi-fi. Sent the camera back to D-link here in Sweden and little more than a week later my new camera arrived today. I have now tried to install the firmware for a second time. And I'm sorry to say that the installation aborted in the middle of the installation process. This time however, I managed to reset the camera and I could install the camera as a new product again. Don´t know why I have this problem. But maybe my internet provider Telia and the Thomson router they sent me is part of the problem. In a few weeks I will change my internet provider and will upgrade my router then I´ll try to install the new firmware again. Apart from this problem the camera does what it is supposed to do.

    Works great when it works

    • Written by Michael B from Cupertino

I have a house full of Home Kit accessories, and this one is the worst. Extremely slow to connect both via the Home and Omna apps. 60 seconds or more sometimes and then sometimes it doesn't connect at all. Using the SD card is useful to replay events and this works fine, except same issue as above. I have 3 cameras all running the latest firmware and only one of them works flawlessly. I have excellent wifi coverage in all areas where the cameras are, so it's not me it's you....

    Horrible product

    • Written by Joel A from Allen

This product does not function as expected. Every two weeks it stops the connection to my network, I have to reset the whole product completely, then "attempt" to re-pair it to the Home App. It is always an attempt because, it never consistently works on the re-pairing phase. I have been in contact with D-Link support over the last several months and they do not have a solution.

I would avoid this product. I am bummed because I was hopping that it would be a great HomeKit enabled camera. Unfortunately, it is more of a hassle than convenience.

it ok but not as espected

    • Written by Juan F from Beverly Hills

I have several security wifi cameras in my wifi network...this d-link camera works, but is too slow to get the image.
when I open the app from the other cameras (not apple homeki) they open fast...this takes like 10 seconds more.
actually all apple homekit is slow, when you have all your house connected, updated on the status takes forever
image qality is ok, no zoom but is decent. would be great being able to ajust the wide angle so if you dont need that much, i dont loose qality
