    Not a good experience

    • Written by Michael H from FLEMING ISLAND

Initial set up went okay, then after about 3 hours and I'm at the airport, camera showed off-line and the recording quit soon after I left the house. When I returned home I went through all the recommended reset steps with no luck. I tried to contact Logitech for support, also no help. Now trying to get return authorization and that's not going well either. Time to move on to another brand.

    Not perfect, but pretty good

Let me begin with a caveat. I have owned smart home devices from several manufacturers. My main learning is that you need a good, strong wifi signal at the point where you plan to install the device. IMHO, the wifi connection is the weak point in all smart home devices. Time and again, a power outage, a firmware update, or similar event will cause the devices to lose (and not automatically restore) connectivity. This just seems to be the state of the current technology. So be prepared for a certain amount on ongoing manual intervention.

Having said the above, I've found the Circle 2 to be slightly above average in terms of connectivity. I've unplugged the device, turned off my wifi and performed firmware updates - each several times - just to test how well the Circle 2 recovers. So far, so good. On the functional side, I find the camera's image quality to be great in well-lit rooms, and I find the night vision to be adequate. I haven't seen a camera with truly great night vision, so I've set my expectations accordingly.

Logitech's free plan gives you access to your video footage for the last 24 hours. The software sends you a notification (not an SMS or email) when it senses motion. This means you need to review the footage and download (to your phone) the video that you want to keep before the 24 hours runs out. If there are no notifications, then there is no need, of course, to review the footage. Logitech's "day brief" feature makes it pretty easy to review footage. You can purchase one of Logitech's subscription plans to retain your footage for more than 24 hours, if you wish. You also receive a notification if the camera disconnects. I tested this by disconnecting the power cable, and it worked fine.

As others have commented, the Homekit app does not fully integrate with the Circle 2. So you still will want to have Logitech's own app on your phone. One last comment: this camera has no alarm feature (or, at least, none I've been able to find). So if you want a camera that emits a loud piercing sound that both wakes you up and scares off an intruder, this camera is not for you. Otherwise, I've found it to be a good device.

Camera broken after turning it off

    • Written by Jean B from Los Angeles

It all started well with the camera setup successful and working for about one day. Then I decided to try the "Turn Off" feature. And then unable to turn it on and reconnect to it, no matter what (I did reset it, unplugged, etc). I might be unlucky but for this price, I'm expecting a more reliable camera. Too bad.

Good Security camera with poor HomeKit execution.

    • Written by Rey G from Menifee

I purchased 2 of these mainly because of their stated HomeKit compatibility. When trying to access these cameras remotely (away from the home network) through HomeKit, I've found that these will show as Not Responding more often than not. When would one want to monitor their security cameras the most! This camera fails at HomeKit and is almost useless under HomeKit. Now, to be fair, under the native Logi Circle app these are solid security cameras and are very versatile with different mounting options. BUT, that is not why I purchased these. I purchased these because of the Works with HomeKit badge prominently placed on the packaging. I wish Apple did more testing before allowing Logitech to apply that badge to their product.

I want to love it, just not now

    • Written by Nicholas N from Dallas

I had very high hopes for this camera. I read amazing reviews for this camera online and the for the homekit integration. That is the main reason I bought it. But unfortunately with the latest firmware update homekit simply does not work. I've had to reset this camera EVERY single day, and exchange once already, and I've only owned it for 5 days. My internet is fast, and all my other homekit gear works great. So I know its not that. And after calling Logitech support they even told me they are working on a firmware update to fix homekit integration issues since there have been so many complaints.

The camera works FANTASTIC in the Logitech app, but if you link it to home app it will disconnect after awhile regardless if you have a homehub setup. And don't bother using Logitech support online, their website is infuriating as well, it doesn't work. Like, at all. Their website constantly deleted my account, but wouldn't let me create another one, and the password reset link just sent me back to the home page. So if you do have problems just call in. Trust me.

If you're willing to wait it out for the firmware update this camera for homekit integration that works has the potential to be something amazing. It's small, great quality, and the Logitech app has a ton of features.

Decent camera but known issues with HomeKit

    • Written by Jamie M from Anchorage

The camera itself works fairly well with a wide angle lens and decent night vision. However, one of the primary reasons I bought this camera was for HomeKit support. Unfortunately, there is a known issue with HomeKit which Logitech claims is an issue with HomeKit and not their camera or firmware. Basically, when you try to view the live stream through the iOS Home app, it will say "Not Available" about 50% of the time. You can read more about this in Logitech support forum. Another issue I have is you can't automatically have the camera turn on/off via automations or location so unless you manually turn it off when you're home, it's always recording when motion is detected. Speaking of which, there are a couple reviews out there that mention this camera is always recording which is not the case - it only records when it detects motion.

Great Camera! Great 180 degree review! Get Notifications with motion, picture is great! Cons, not loud when you talk through the camera. Another pro is the Window mount. Love it! I give it 5 stars!

    Great HomeKit Camera

    • Written by Adam C from Saratoga

This camera works amazingly well in HomeKit--super simple setup, great quality as always from Logitech, and it streams clear 1080p video straight to my phone!

I have 3 of these and they are great

    • Written by Jason C from Thousand Oaks

I have two window mounted and one wall mounted. I've done all of the app and firmware updates since I purchased them in August. I tried Homekit but the Logi Circle app is much better. Night vision doesn't work as well in window mode, do your homework and research before buying any camera. IR does not work through glass. I spent more time cable managing the wires and getting them power than I did setting them up. Like all technology, there's people who know and everyone else. Remember that when reading reviews. It's a great product and it doesn't deserve 1 star from 1 review.

Can not stop camera from recording in HomeKit

    • Written by Adam G from Dallas

I bought this camera in hopes of replacing my nest cameras so that everything would be integrated into the home app. There are a lot of limitations currently with HomeKit and this camera. It can not be turned on and off via HomeKit. If I use the Logitech app to turn the camera off and then goto the home app, the camera is still streaming video even though it shows off. Also, there is no way to automatically turn the camera on/off via location, which is a major bummer. If/when this is fixed via a software update, I may consider this camera again, but for now I am returning it.
