GROSSLY Underpowered Hub Won't Even Power An APPLE USB SuperDrive!

    • Written by Sherrell G from Knoxville

I just purchased this new in the Apple store. Took it home and hooked it up. It wouldn't even drive my new Apple USB SuperDrive with no other ports in use! So I go back to the Apple Store. They pull another new one off the shelf and hook it up. Their's wouldn't power my SuperDrive either! (The SuperDrive is fine... it powers right up when plugged directly into the MacBook Pro...)

Bottom line: This Belkin hub doesn't qualify as a "powered USB hub" in my book. Look somewhere else if you really need a powered hub! Definitely NOT up to normal Belkin quality standards...

    Works w/MacBook Air

    • Written by William H from Haiku

This compact unit appears well made and worked right out of the box with my Macbook Air 2018. USing the included USB 3.0 cable I plugged in a SanDisk Cruzer Glide memory USB stick and the Air found it automatically. The 4-port hub works with or without the included AC adapter. Note: the AC adapter output did not charge the Air with the USB hub. The MB Air did not indicate any charging from this device, so don't count on it to replace the charger you received with your Air from Apple. I do recommend this unit for use with USB memory sticks. I have not tested it on any other legacy USB devices yet.

WON'T WORK ON DRIVES OVER 1T

    • Written by Kathryn F from Berlin

So disappointed, Just had this device delivered this morning. After a Chat with Belkin support, I was informed that this unit will not work with drives over 1T. Since I have 4T and 2T drives, this hub is useless for me. Back it goes to Apple. I checked with Apple support BEFORE I bought the unit, but they never mentioned it to me.

Very disappointed in total with Apple on the Thunderbolt connector. Great to have it, but good luck trying to get compatible card readers and hubs.

    Read Before You Buy!!!

Don't let the '2 Star Review' shade your judgement on this device. It clearly states 'USB 3.0 4-Port Hub + USB-C Cable' as the mentioned product. If the '2 Star Reviewer' would've looked at the product in store, while purchasing, he/she would have realized it wasn't for them. I will be buying a new MacBook Air, in the next week or two to replace my MacBook from 2006; and this looks like a PERFECT product to give me 4 USB 3.0/2.0 ports on a product that doesn't have any. I WILL BE BUYING this along with my new MacBook!!!

    Very Convenient

I love the removable cable because I can use it to plug my seegate external hard drive. It’s everything I needed.

    bad design

    • Written by Sai C from Pittsburgh

whoever designed this should be fired. If I wanted a USB 3.0 hub, I'd have bought a USB 3.0 hub. The only USB-c thing you are paying for here is the cord, which is also pretty short. Everything else is USB 3.0. Since the cord is removable, if you lose it, which is pretty easy because it's small, you're SOL and your hub is bricked. The only place you can get a replacement C to micro-3.0 cord is Amazon, so you can't just pop in to your local electronics store. Belkin didn't think this design through at all. Worse yet, the box in Apple stores doesn't indicate it's really a USB 3.0 hub with a USB-C dongle. I wish I had the original packaging so I could return it but unfortunately I left it in another city while traveling.
