    Awesome idea - poor implementation

    • Written by Frank R from Eagan

The toothbrush itself is great. However connection gets lost a lot, really a lot. Achievements within the app are not reachable, because they reset themselves.

Had the same crack issues as many have reported. Just send the toothbrush back and got a new one, this happened 2 times. Finally we realized that you can only use Colgate toothpaste.,,

It’s a great tooth brush but misses one part of my mouth

    • Written by stephenie G from Ridgewood

I really like the tooth brush I feel like it helps me brush better but for some reason it always says I’m not brushing the top right part of my mouth when I am . So I always get oh you covered 90 something part of your mouth but really wasn’t it a 100? Other then that I feel like I get a great brushing experience.

    Shoddily made, poor concept

    • Written by Mitch D from CANFIELD

I have thrown this away after 3 months. The position sensors/algorithm didn't work. The plastic at the base cracked. The charging function stopped.

This is an overpriced piece of junk.

The Colgate website didn't respond to complaints. Apple referred complaints to Colgate.

    Still evaluating

    • Written by John S from Lodi

I have had this toothbrush for only a week. The brush is very nice and light. The construction is so smooth that it slips in my hand especially when it gets wet, which is every time. So, I accidentally switch it off because the on/off button is right in the middle. Turning the brush in my hand to get to the different zones is hard because it slips in my hand, and I am not as quick as the app. A textured surface and a shape that is not round would help.

It is constantly telling me I am in the wrong zone when I am not. I wish it would get it right!

The bluetooth connectivity has been solid for me. I do not share this brush and so I never switch phones or the brush head. It comes with 2 brush heads. Not sure how to get replacements, but I am not nearly at this point yet.

There is no travel case. Competitors bluetooth brushes have neat travel cases, which double to charge your iPhone too! Competitors also have several brushing modes and a pressure sensor.

The app does not have a clear START button, but I found a small icon at the bottom labelled "brush", which seems to be the start button. You have to learn the app by trial and error.

This brush seems to be a project in development and has a long way to improve. It is also quite expensive when compared with other similar bluetooth toothbrushes.

    In Love with this Toothbrush

    • Written by Sergio Q from New York

I've had this toothbrush for about a month now, and I'm in love with it. It vibrates more strongly than the Quip I had to replace.

Some people have complained that the plastic finish feels cheap. I disagree. The E1 might not have the rubbery finish of Sonicare toothbrushes, but this makes it incredibly lighter and easier to manipulate and carry around.

The accompanying Colgate app works perfectly on my iPhone 7 Plus, and the 3D coach program is helping me reach every corner of my mouth. For people who complain that the app isn't registering areas where they did brush, don't tilt your head down when you brush, but keep it straight up. Also, adjust your grip and slow down your strokes, and you'll see your brushing coverage increase. I did so, and now I'm achieving 100% every time I brush.

    Nice but needs work

    • Written by Anthony F from NEW KENSINGTON

Been using this toothbrush for 4 months now and functionally it’s very good. It fails miserably when it comes to AI and syncing. The AI must have been based on Homer Simpson. It does not connect or sync consistently. I was able to sync my toothbrush only 1 out of 10 tries and that was after much gymnastics to do so. We have 2 of these brushes. My wife uses the other. Even though they are two separate brushes with individual serial numbers and profiles, the app on my iPhone would only sync to my wife’s brush and the reverse for her brush. The toothbrush thinks that 2 minuets is it for teeth brushing. Usually, and I have had a few electronic toothbrush’s, after you turn them off the 2 minute timer resets. Not the case with this brush. Once the 2 minute timer has gone off it does not reset until the next day. I generally brush my teeth 2 minutes top and bottom. So I need to use the timer on my iPhone one of those times. As I mentioned the functionality is great, however you can get the same functionality from other electronic toothbrushes for far less money. We have both deleted the Colgate app from our iPhones.

Toothbrush = GREAT... Tech Support = ZERO...

    • Written by Steve R from Racine

I was excited about purchasing this toothbrush. It is pretty cool... and I love it... but there a few quirky "features". First of all, if you have a problem... you are on your own. I have written 3 separate emails to the Colgate Connect Tech Support... all 3 emails have been returned... saying that MY email is disabled. Amazing... I use that email address every single day! And... the Chat feature in the app does NOT work... you never even see a Chat screen. Next quirky thing... One time I finished brushing my teeth... the toothbrush stopped as normal... I was cleaning it under the faucet... by mistake I pressed the power button on. I immediately turned it off. The app said I completed brushing 9% of my teeth. There is no way to delete a brushing (unless someone can tell me how to do it) Because of this, my average over time is way off. Next... I have never reached 100% brushing. During my brushing, it ALWAYS says at some time that I am brushing the wrong area. I know the difference between top, bottom, left and right... I can't be wrong every single time I brush my teeth. Is anyone else having these issues? Please let me know. Other than these few things... I love the toothbrush!

My dentist was genuinely impressed with how clean my teeth were

    • Written by Barry J from Cupertino

I have some gripes about this product, in particular how the software and sensors aren't perfect at knowing which part of your mouth it is cleaning. However, I noticed early on that my teeth felt cleaner than ever before, and then my dentist remarked at how there was barely any plaque during a routine cleaning. I then told her that I had been using this toothbrush, and she was enthusiastic that she had to get it too. I suspect what plaque had developed was already there when I got this toothbrush, and my next cleaning will be even better. I also don't love using the app all the time, but a lifetime of healthy teeth is clearly worth the tradeoff.

Great Idea - Not great execution

    • Written by Nicholas L from Philadelphia

By far, the best part of this product is the accompanying app for your phone/tablet. The ability to track your brushing habits and get real time feedback on how you're brushing is an ingenious idea. I imagine the games on the app would be a great way to get young children more interested in brushing their teeth - treating it less like a chore and more like a fun activity. That being said, I think the actual toothbrush was lacking. The overall construction seemed flimsy, with the vibration stronger in the handle than it was at the brush head. The base of the brush was much larger than similar products on the market. Although I am a huge fan of the app, I'm going to be switching back to my cheaper sonicare brand electric toothbrush, which just does a much better job of cleaning my teeth.

i was skeptical at first... but it grew on me

    • Written by lisa S from staten island

i have had the colgate smart toothbrush for a few weeks now. when i got it i thought it felt a little cheap and wasnt impressed with how the brush was working on my teeth. i finally downloaded the app and was using the "smart" functions. it showed me areas i wasnt getting well and even has an option that will walk you through the brushing the entire mouth. i really liked that part i would love to get my son using it also. the app has games that will help a child or teen by timing them and showing them exactly where to brush. i do not run into any issues using the app (never takes too long to load or boots me out ). i do wish the bristles were shaped a little different so i can access some of my teeth a little easier but it is a great tooth brush.

    Great time to be alive

    • Written by Joey S from Elizabeth

Wow, this toothbrush is amazing! From the first day I used it I have felt that my teeth brushing routine has hit a all time high, the app has kept me in informed about my brushing and I really enjoy seeing where I can improve and how’s my brushing going. I have very few cons for this Colgate connect. I wish it had a tongue brush behind the bristles and also that the the bristle part is larger other than that it’s perfect. Do you yourself a favor and get this tooth brush app combo you will not regret it.

    Nice Toothbrush

    • Written by Jonathan Y from Allentown

The toothbrush has a nice sleek design with a compact head. Being use to a larger brush head it took a little getting used to the compact design. Nothing wrong just a preference. The head come off easily for cleaning, which is nice.
The app was easy to get set up and connect to the tooth brush. It has cool tools to view 3D brushing to show how well brushing coverage. Thought the timer seemed short. I’m used to brushing longer. It was weird reviewing the brushing results the first time. As an adult, it felt like I was a kid with my parents watching over my shoulder to see how well I was doing. Now that I’ve used it a few times, the feedback on brushing coverage is nice.
I can see how this would be great with kids. It would give positive feedback on how well they are doing.
Overall, it’s a nice toothbrush the gives you feedback on how well your brushing.

Great innovative toothbrush ! app works well

    • Written by Tristan F from Valence

As a tech lover, I bought this innovative toothbrush right after its launch in Apple stores. I find the idea amazing, it really helped me to realize how poorly I used to brush my teeth. Now I can monitor the quality of my brushings even without having my phone with me as it synchronizes the infos offline. I think I'll buy one for my little cousins, because the real time games available on the smartphone while brushing the teeth could really motivate them to brush more regularly & more properly. With the different brush heads you just need to have one toothbrush for all the kids which makes it even more affordable.

    useful for the whole family

    • Written by Thomas S from New York

I had a compliance issues with my children (they didn't want to brush their teeth regularly) and this wonderful toothbrush has changed our life. Kids are now eager to brush their teeth because they play to fun games on the family ipad while brushing. With the additional brush heads, I can also monitor my own dental hygien and my hygienist is very happy. This is really a great product ! Highly recommand it

    Innovative, Room for Improvement

    • Written by MARK W from Mclean

I’ve had the toothbrush/app for 2 weeks. All in all I like it. The toothbrush keep a charge when traveling for a long weekend (no need to pack the base). My brushing regime has definitely become better using the “Coach”. I find the app sometimes fails to recognize the time/effort you’ve spent on a certain zone of your mouth. The one thing I found lacking is the ability to either brush “offline” and/or edit recording brushing sessions. Right now (2/17/18), a 30 second, quick brush, screws up the stastics the app keeps. So 4 stars for now. A little refinement and 5 stars could come

Good start - could use some improvements

    • Written by Wanda T from Wright City

I gave it 4 stars just because it made me conscience of my actual brushing habits and I did improve them. Here is the list for constructive criticism:
    1) I have a pattern of brushing that I have used all my life. It would be nice to be able to configure the app based on that (Lower left outside, LL top, LL inside, etc.) The coach has you flipping all over in an unnatural pattern which has you concentrating on where you need to be instead of effective brushing.
    2) There are 4 timed intervals for the four quadrants of your mouth but I know of no one that brushes half of their front teeth with their back teeth. We all brush our front teeth separately from the back, so there needs to be 6 intervals, not 4.
    3) I could never get it to register that I was brushing my lower left quadrant. The brush icon disappeared and the clock kept ticking.
    4) it appears to require up and down brushing. I thought the movement of the brush head would accomplish that. The coach never seemed happy with my up & down brushing.
    5) The power button is right where you put your thumb to hold the brush. Better if relocated.
I had no problems with bluetooth and brushing data transferring to my phone. It was a personal challenge to get 100% but having done that, I don't think I did as good a job as I could have if I had been able to do it with my own configuration and the aid of the coach.
