    good printer, good price. noisy.

I ordered this printer when I started back school, I had also ordered a new laptop, but the printer came in two days sooner than expected. I unboxed it and started setting it up when my laptop finally came in. It had a couple paper jams and a couple times the ink runner got caught, but not too many problems with it. I signed up for the HP print thing and the printer actually orders the ink for me and its here way before I run out of ink, so that is one less thing this busy mom of two has to do. I haven't messed around with the scanner or fax or copier yet but when I get a break in between semesters I most likely will.

The only bad part about this printer I am in my living room and I print (which the printer is set up in the middle bedroom) I can hear it. Its definitely a lot louder than I would like but its not too bad, but overall its not a bad buy. I really suggest signing up for HPINK though seriously the best thing yet.

    Worst printer ive ever owned

    • Written by Glad H from Evansville

This is by far the worst printer i've ever owned. I've never written a review for something but i despise this printer so much i felt i had to. I printed barely 50 pages of just text and 4 pages of simple animation keyframes and it's already telling me it is low on ink. The quality of the print is just terrible. My animation keyframes are weirdly textured and have blotchy/streaky white lines. I'm not sure if it's just mine that is doing this but my experience with this printer has been terrible. I've owned great and reliable HP printers in the past and i'm upset that this one has been so finicky with unacceptable print quality.

    Easy Setup

Very easy to set up. Took about 10 minutes to connect Mac, 2 phones and iPad. We were impressed with the quality of the photos we printed. Couldn’t be happier with it

    Easy Setup

Setup was remarkably easy for me on this HP 7864 Printer. I used the HP Easy Start app (which you can download from the 123.hp.com website). I first deleted all of my old HP printer software and started fresh with the new installation. Perfect wireless setup on my wifi network.

    Overly complex set-up

    • Written by Robert H from Kailua

HP tried to make wireless set up of its printer simple, seemingly encouraging customers to use their iPhone app to set up the printer. After about 15 minutes of following this process, I got stuck on the "sign up for HP's ink jet service." I tried saying "no." Suddenly the entire installation seemed to freeze. Nothing I could do -- and I'm reasonably computer proficient -- could get the printer unstuck. And there doesn't seem to be an easy way to reset the printer back to factory settings. I spent about 2-3 hours trying to get the printer to work. Finally resorted to contacting HP's customer service. After 15 minutes of chatting with someone . . . they finally tell me to call another department, who is currently closed.

Pffft. Printers shouldn't be this tricky. Plug it in, find the driver, and start printing. I'd pass on HP for now.
