Installed 12 switches and dimmers over 12 months with few issues

    • Written by Kenneth M from Marlborough

I've installed 12 Leviton smart switches with Apple HomeKit over the course of the past year. Whatever early problems Leviton had with the switches appear to be resolved with the firmware update that was released early last year. I've never had a switch fail even with a few power outages.

After installing the switches, be sure to check for firmware updates and install them.

I did have to call Leviton support on a switch that would not pair with HomeKit. I waited about 10 minutes to get to the right technician. He suggested rebooting my iPad, which I did. Then he had me reset the switch to its factory settings by depressing the toggle up for 14 seconds. I had tried this previously and it did not make any difference. But what he had me do next, did work. He told me to power down the switch for 5 seconds before trying to program and pair it. I did that and it paired instantly when I tried it in the Leviton app. What I noticed afterward was that this was the first switch that I installed that had the latest firmware already loaded, so it's possible that's why I encountered this problem. I suspect the latest firmware may have a minor issue when first pairing. If so, the workaround is easy enough.

My suggestion is that if you have a problem, call Leviton's support line.

No quality! No support! Dont' Purchase!!!!!!!

    • Written by Lance T from Colorado Springs

I have (30) of the Leviton DH15S-1BZ 15A Decora Smart Switches, Works with Apple HomeKit and (10) of the Leviton DD0SR-1Z 120VAC Decora Digital/Decora Smart Coordinating Switch Remotes. I also have the Hunter Homekit smart fan, (2) KooGeek outlets, (4) Vocolinc outlets, (3) Kwikset Smart Locks, (2) smart shades, and an Ecobee 4 thermostat on my Homekit system. I have had this system up and operational for over a year. I have the RBR50 / RBS50 Orbi Mesh network. The one consistent thing about my system is that the Leviton Smart Switches always fail! Currently I have (6) of the switches that are not functining at all and another (2) of the switches that work for a couple of weeks then provide the dreaded, "Not Responding" message. I originally contacted the Leviton support center about 8 months ago and have received limited feedback. None of which provided any assistance, just questions and indiaction that they are still researching my issue (for 8 months?). Why do all of the other product operate flawlessly on my system, but the Leviton switches don't? LEVITON AND THIER SUPPORT ARE FRUSTRATING!!!

Constantly falls off network & shows Non-Responsive in HomeKit

    • Written by ERIC J R from Houston

I installed four of the Leviton DecoraSmart switches and dimmers exactly one year ago. Frequently, they lose connectivity with HomeKit showing “not responsive” inside of HomeKit and in the Leviton app. They have all been problematic since installation, and support from Leviton has been virtually non-existent. When these switches fall off your network, you either have to flip your breakers to them or you have to completely reset the switches to factory default, then re-enroll them. The issue is random, affecting any of the switches at different times. When they do fall off the network, they completely disrupt any Automations such as the front porch light to come on at dusk and off at dawn. Once you re-enroll them, you have to set up the automations again. Leviton has a long way to go with developing better compatibility with these switches. I have myriad other devices in HomeKit including a Honeywell thermostat, Insignia Smartplugs, Netatmo security cams, and a flood sensor. None of the other devices experience this issue, so I am completely confident it’s an issue specifically with the Leviton switches. You’d be better served choosing another brand of switches that are more compatible with HimeKit. I’m at the point where I will replace these switches out and replace them with another brand.

    White only from Apple

    • Written by Otis F from Palo Alto

I bought the Apple version of this switch online and went to pick it up at the Apple Store. I had tried to order the Light Almond color, by selecting that color as shown on the Apple website. However, the order did not seem to specify a color. The Apple store gave me white and we couldn't figure out how to order the Light Almond color, so I returned it. The Apple Store folks could not have been nicer. I found a version of the switch containing both White and Light Almond switch colors at Home Depot. Installation was very easy using the Apple Home app.

9 Switches over 3 months, NO complaints.

    • Written by Jef S from Cary

These switches have been great and I've had no issues since installing them. I've installed one or two a weekend for the last few months with no issues. One I had to try twice to upgrade the firmware but that's been my only hiccup. So easy for my son to say Hey Siri, his name and goodnight. His lights all shut off, night light with two fans pop on, sets his alarm for 6:30 and ocean waves start to play. Not bad for an 8 year old!

One star because zero is not an option!

    • Written by martin P from San Antonio

I paid $45 for the switch and $85 for an electrician to install it. I have spent the last two hours trying to setup the switch but it isn't working. I basically threw $125 down the drain.

    Not a good long-term investment

    • Written by Chris S from Holland

I purchased 3, installed two. They've lost connectivity and won't rejoin the network, just keeps blinking green. This is on both switches that I installed. Worked great for a month, then lost connectivity. Reset doesn't work as it should. Won't find the network. I suggest going to another manufacturer.

    Great Switch

    • Written by Timothy P from Brooklyn Park

This switch has worked flawlessly. I have 7 of these switches and not a problem. Very simple to setup, I did not even use their app, just click add device in home kit and scan the code. That simple. For 3 way switch applications you need to buy an additional remote switch.

    I Love this switch

    • Written by Christopher J from Arlington

This switch (as well as the 600w & 1000 w dimmer versions) work well with homekit. On very rare occasions, you need to re-connect with homekit but that is easily done. I highly recommend leviton switches...

    Amazing!!!! Works Best on iOS11

    • Written by Luis R from Norwalk

Bought 2 of these to automate some lights in the house and have some voice control using the HomePod. Best thing ever!!!!. Its been over a month and still work perfectly. Make sure to have your phone up to date. This works with my HomePod, Apple TV 4k, Apple Watch and iPhone. Easy to setup too, this is amazing!

Make sure you use white wire when connecting your switch otherwise it won't work. I did have to do some wiring (not a professional) but i'm not afraid to try things and everything came out great!!! will get 3 more to do the master bedroom and exterior lights.

    Leviton Light Switch and Dimmer

    • Written by PENGTA C from CARLSBAD

Bought a switch for the Kitchen and dimmer for the Family Room. Has been working with homekit and voice command with HomePod without any problems. With the dimmer you can set it to gradually brighten when turned on or dim over seconds when switched off.

    Working Perfectly

    • Written by Andy E from Saint Petersburg

Installed and working for several weeks now, easy to set-up with the Levitron app, and paired with Apple Home no problem and so far has no problems either with operation or connectivity. Note that the dimmer version will require a neutral wire connection at the switch. Like all these switches they are still expensive if you are doing an entire home, but you get the technology.

    Leviton Switch not reliable!

    • Written by Doug P from Ellington

I purchased 5 switches and found all have connectivity problems with HomeKit. The switches run for a few days then fail with a unreliable error message on the HomeKit app. I am using the 4K AppleTV as my hub. You should NOT consider these switches for anything that is critical since you can not access that switch either locally or remotely when the problem occurs. I will probably load the Leviton Decora app to see if the problem occurs there in order to try to find the source of the problem (switch or AppleTV). I will post results later. I am also using the iDevice plug and it has been rock solid for months.

    don't buy this switch

    • Written by Joshua D from O Fallon

this switch has major issues with dropping out of the home kit network and off the wifi. It will work great for week or two then just drop out and you will have to reset it. The manufacture won't give you any help and if they do answer you back you get a smart comment. I made a mistake and bought 9 of them from Home Depot and Amazon. So just do your homework and I heard Leviton cassette brand was better and they didn't have any issues.
