    velop three review

the set up took time ( a little longer than expected) as with all technology products , but the rep from Linksys worked with me until it was up and running . The the other day had another problem with my modem from spectrum and changed a wore configuration and has to re- setup entire velop system again from the beginning. keep your fingers crossed that it stays up and running . Coverage seems to more than enough to cover my entire house which is two story about 3200 sq ft.

Finally came a technology that improved the performance of the network in my house. Linksys Velop is amazing.

    New velop system

Very easy to install with the app. Very intuitive step by step setup that had the system operational in less than 10 minutes.
The coverage is better through out entire house with a stronger and faster signal compared to Apple router it replaced.
    Highly recommend this system.

    Not even Beta Ready!

Due to recent issues in the performance of my Apple Base Station WAN, I attempted to tackle the problem at the modem and the router. Since my Apple Router was a bit old and Apple was promoting this new mesh technology, I decided to give it a try. Based on price and access to the latest tech I found this product on Amazon: Linksys Velop Tri-band Whole Home WiFi Intelligent Mesh System, 3-Pack.

Due to several recent storms it turns out that my ISP modem needed to be replaced and that seemed to improve my performance issues but since I had already ordered the new mesh system and was hoping for improved speeds throughout the home I continued implement my WAN upgrade.

Needless to say there are many issues with this product. Initially you are hooked by the UX on the iOS App that allows you to control/admin your entire WAN. You also get access to a browser portal that offers the same capability. Unfortunately, you quickly realize neither interface is conveying the same information. From status of a peer node, to incorrect information about which node a device is connected with to the restarts of the install process because the nodes and app are not in sync. Nevertheless, I enjoy emerging tech and figured these things would be fixed with updates.

Unfortunately in my very basic topology of a 5port Ethernet Switch hung off the Primary node and the other two nodes wifi connected, my devices could never stay connected. If they were connected to the primary node results would be better. Linksys support was very pleasant and helpful, I had ~4 case IDs the last two being 097508542 (level 2) and 09758542. Each time we tried another approach. I must have spent a total of 4-5 days over several weeks reinstalling different setups and discussing options with Support. We swapped which node was the primary. I also tried eliminating reserved IPs for the nodes and or various devices. It is clear that they have issues with their DCHP Server as well as possible conflicts between the Reserved DHCP Server and the default DHCP Server.

I finally reached a point where I had to get back to stability and so I reconnected my old Apple base Station. After a few days of making sure that i had no regressions, I came to terms with the fact that I should have recalled my old experiences with Linksys products and stayed away. Great support, poor quality and too expensive. Suggestion is beta test before releasing a product.

I decided to return the product.

    Awesome system!

Makes home Wi-Fi system faster and better. The 3 pack is great for our house with one in the basement. It allows for the Wi-Fi to be throughout the house with lighting speed and no buffering.

Used to have the AirPort Extreme and 3 expresses and always had problems with buffering even with movies and we do not have that issue now.

Really happy with the product and set-up and app really easy to use. Plus with parental controls it’s awesome.

    Works Great!

I have a 5000 sf house and was using the 3 airport extremes to get coverage. The downside with this was the signal went from 300 near the base station to 10 at the furthest point. I connected the Velop tri-band system and it was very easy using the linksys app. Whole setup took 30 minutes or less. Now I am getting the 300 speed through my house! Very pleased!!

    lost connections

This system is advertised as fixing the shortcomings of regular home wifi, but frankly I've had lots of problems. On the days it works, it seems fine. on the days it doesn't: restarting on their own; lost internet connections; entering setup mode for no apparent reason. One day one of the units lost connection 4 times in 11 minutes....and this was after the setup tool told me the location of the unit "looks good"! And while this was happening, my TV was streaming just fine over a wired connection, so it wasn't an ISP issue.

Do what I did....hardwire your house.

    Easy to install. Works great

Title says it all. I was replacing an airport-based system. Just followed the instructions step by step. No problems. I even added two more base stations to cover my backyard and workshop. Easy peasy

    Easy Setup - Full Coverage

Installation was very easy with the app on the iPhone. Spotty coverage areas in the house are gone, 2nd floor and basement have full WiFi strength. Much more of the yard (1 acre lot) is covered now too.

    Awesome!

The setup was easy and adding the other nodes was easy as well! I plan on getting this system for my parents as well!

Fuzzy math used in claims, but overall, satisfied with WiFi coverage

Setup via iPhone or iPad was simple, but placing the nodes only 30 to 60 feet apart left me scratching my head as to how I could get 3000 square feet of coverage from 3 nodes. Previous setup used a last-gen Airport Extreme, two Expresses and a Belkin range extender. Coverage was present, but signal strength and speed exponentially decreased the farther the clients were from the Airport Extreme. With the Velop Mesh system, node distances from each other and placement orientation were more critical than the Airport system. But, once they could "see" each other and were close enough to maintain the "mesh", the signal was strong enough to maintain impressive speeds throughout the house. That took a lot of trial-and-error finding the sweet spots in the house, but the invested time was worth it. My only question now is what to do with the weaker but otherwise functional Airport Extreme, Expresses, and WiFi extender, as they are reportedly not compatible with the mesh system in a wireless capacity.
