Needs a firm and sturdy wire

    • Written by Tyonna B from Wilmington

The thin wire that leads to the laptop, as opposed to the thicker wire that leads to the outlet, is easier to break because it is thin.

    Joining the disgruntled chorus

    • Written by Michelle M from Gainesville

This will be my third power adapter for my MacBook Pro purchased in 2013 purchase. I love my laptop but hate shelling out $79.00 x 3 because the cover of the cord begins fraying near the magnetic plug. I take good care of my laptop, and the adapter, too, is handled with care. (FYI: The same fraying of the cable cover occurs with the apple lightning cords for my iphones.) I give this product two stars because, unlike non-Apple replacements, this adaptor won't fry my computer or burn down my house. That is the only reason I continue to purchase the Apple brand. Excellent laptop; poor adapter!

    Expensive and doesn't last

    • Written by Angela D from Fairfield

I'm a diehard Apple fan but not when it comes to these cords. I'm about to order my 4th - 4th! - cord for my Macbook pro. The outer sheath keeps splitting and exposing the wire. Electrical tape only keeps it at bay for a very short time because it will split below wherever it is taped. This is not a good product.

    Worst Charger

    • Written by Megan J L F from McLean

I have gone through about three of these this year alone. They just keep breaking. The cord gets exposed and I even have put electrical tape on it to slow down the wear and tear and they still keep breaking. I have a nice little Apple Charger graveyard in my house now. Worst design product. Off to buy another one because my latest one just broke.

Very expensive and extremely poor quality

    • Written by Azra A from Brossard

I have had to purchase two additional chargers for my MacBook Pro because both of them simply stopped working one day. Buying a new one is expensive and these chargers don’t last long at all.

Offensively disgraceful price tag. Moderate quality build

    • Written by Matthew F from Aurora

I’m not expecting a tank when it comes to a power adapter but this thing is one of those stand alone items that makes Apple look bad. Moderate quality build at best and with a price that is offensively high to the consumer for something so incredibly prone to failure.

    60W MagSafe Power Adapter

    • Written by Kenneth M from Ellensburg

I just bought my third for my laptop. They fail at an amazing rate. This is the worst product Apple produces. For a company that prides itself on design, it is unbelievable that it would continue to sell these. They are trash.

I've had to purchase two separate mac chargers since I bought my computer. Both broke within one to two years. My first cord just stopped working for no apparent reason. The second one frayed. You would think that given the previous lawsuit Apple would have improved the quality of their chargers however that doesn't seem to be the case. It costs me just as much to buy a new charger as it does to replace the piece that keeps breaking. I've resorted to purchasing off-brand chargers which seem to last just as long as the $80 apple charger for half the price.

    Barely lasted two years...

    • Written by Amanda F from Baltimore

My original Macbook charger made it 7 years, bought one of these 2 years ago and here I am back having to buy another one because the cord unraveled and stopped charging. Hate that this is the only trusted game in town to keep my mac charged.

Broke in less than a year

    • Written by Alison B from Tampa

I was hesitant to own a Macbook because I don't think any Apple product is worth the prices they get away with charging. I ended up getting one as a birthday gift last October from my parents (who are not in any way tech savvy and think chain restaurants equate to a nice night out) after they INSISTED that I have one. They swear by purchasing only Apple, even though they can't give me a straight answer as to why. Anyways, I've been iffy on it and the charger just broke out of nowhere. The cord isn't even twisted or bent at all. It's been 7 months. Why do people pay so much for this stuff?

if the rubber piece that connects the actual charger piece to the battery splices, and the rubber insulator comes out, you can stick a toothpick in it and push the metal spiral into the battery and it will work...

Down side is you could start an electrical fire, but thats way cheaper than 78 bucks for a charger.

Stock price goes up quality goes down...

    • Written by James K from nafpaktos

This product is just...bad.The whole package. Mine actually started to smoke. In the beginning there was just a little tear on the base of the cable. I noticed that it was getting way to hot at that specific point. After maybe 10 charges the tear had become a lot bigger due to the heat. And today suddenly i noticed a smell like something was burning...Yeap it was the charger,it was smoking like some 30$ chinese one. One month earlier my macbook decided not to boot, went to the tech guy no hd problems he said. The verdict? They do that some times. Not worth 1300 euros at all.

Worst laptop charger ever made. Extremely fragile.

    • Written by Jo P from Stevenson ranch

I've gone through 6 of these. They will either break at the base of the brick or at the tip where it plugs to the macbook. I've tried everything from wrapping a ballpoint pen spring around the tip, wrapped the wire around the hooks on the brick. NOTHING WORKs. Poor design. Laptop PC chargers are far more sturdier. If you're going to make something this cheap, don't charge an arm and a leg to replace it. I'm glad there are aftermarket parts to these cheap chargers. Seriously, rethink your design.

Have had 2 of 3 stop working

    • Written by Evelyn S from Portland

I've had 2 of the 3 adapters I've purchased randomly stop working. My original quit a year ago and I purchased two more. One of those has now died. I compared it to the one that's working--they look exactly the same still, so I can't tell why one would work and one wouldn't.

    Power Cord Poor Quality

    • Written by Lymy Beth T from Roseburg

Bought the power cord last year to replace the one that came in with the computer originally. Now, buying a new one to replace the one that I bought last year. The plastic cover and wires break and crack easily especially where you connect it to the connection.

I agree is bad design, but read this!

    • Written by Andre R from Delray Beach

My adapter started acting up and would only charge in certain position until there was no more positions that would make it work!
I figured out that the little slide-on fold-on connector would rock up and down about 1/4 of and inch loosely when testing by hand and my other ipad and mac charger would not!
So i took the little adapter from my old ipad charger and replaced with the defective not working mac charger and ...... voila!!! I works!
Stupid adapter gets loose after time, thats it, not the charger itself but just the little slide-on folde-on little connector!
I hope that helps, it helped me and i'm happy that i don't have to buy another one!

This is a horrible product and replacements are worse

    • Written by Nicholas M from Honolulu

I would give this NO STARS if I could. I'm not one to write reviews, but I had to replace this product at least 4 times in the past 2 years so I just had to write one up. My first charger worked for about 2 years until I needed a replacement. Since then, I bought a new charger (which only lasted 3 months) and had 2 chargers replaced (each only lasting for about 2-3 months). Every single time, the wiring inside the cables seems to fray from the inside (with no external damage) and loses its charge; the chargers even send out a spark sometimes through the rubber (which is a major safety hazard). I am thoroughly disappointed by this product and am considering to switch to a PC just because of the frustration this product has caused. It is expensive, of very poor quality, and a waste of my time to constantly replace/buy new ones.
