    BEST IDEA VERY

Apple has outdone themselves once again as always, have to say that this has only rethought how charging can be done.

Don't listen to all these reviews...Here is the real review

I brought my MacBook pro 13in non-retina unibody on January 4th, 2013. I've had it for almost 4 years and 6 months now and I'm still using it to this date. I take good CARE of my products. Learn to wrap the cord carefully and to avoid any sharp bends. I wrap my charger in concentric circles keeping the wire straight in two main areas where its most likely to break. The first area is where the wire leaves the powerbox and the second is the L-adapter. Avoid strain here and you won't have any problems. I store my charger in a case meant for a 7 inch tablet. This way, the wire is not exposed to any sharp bends or turns or twists. Do not twist the wire. It's a shame to see such a low rating on apple chargers. They will last for years if you know how to take care of your devices. In other words, my charger works like new and the wire itself is not broken or frayed anywhere. Good day. Cheers to Apple for making quality products.

    Quality Decline

It seems evident from the reviews that there has been a definite decline in the quality of the chargers - almost every five star review (including mine) is of the original charger that came in the box that has since lasted years with no problems. It's no doubt a different product at this point, or just in general, from what is sold in stores at an outrageous price point. I still have the 60W MagSafe that came with my 2009 15-inch MacBook Pro and only recently started having an issue with cord tearing, and I'm pretty sure it was my fault. Chargers shouldn't have to be babied to last, and I doubt the folks giving one star reviews have been destroying their chargers. Point is, I'd trust the masses on this one, as the rest of us are talking about a product you won't be purchasing.

    Surprised at the negative reviews...

I have had my MacBook pro 13 in for 7 years and my power adapter is just now going out. I am a bit taken aback by the price of a replacement that fits something as technologically ancient as a 10 year old laptop, however my computer still runs flawlessly. Well worth it if you don't have to keep up with the Jonses (or Kardashians.... ugh). That being said, I have never had an issue with my Mac power adapters until now so (fingers crossed) I will replace it today... I was also surprised at the over 2K negative reviews. This has simply not been my experience. I treat my electronics like the expensive necessities that they are but have also traveled the world (literally) with this computer/power adapter for the last 10 years. Not a single issue. I was also in the "sand box" (for those of you that will identify with that terminology) which is one of the harshest environments for electronics on Earth. I stand behind Apple.

    9 years strong!

Well I have had my Macbook since 2008! I am looking to get the next model because it is now obsolete. I can't get the latest versions and need more memory! Anywho I haven't ever had to replace my L cord til now. Still charging def no sparking. Just now see some fraying in the cord so will buy a replacement for my backup 2008 MacBook. Glad I didn't have any issues. They are very expensive.

Glad I didn't read these years ago.

My Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter is SIX years old this month. There is a 1/2" crack in the wire cover now that exposes the internal wiring when I bend it at the location. Given the zillion hours of use and abuse, my opinion of this product is very good. With that said I am on my THIRD keyboard that does not make me happy overall.

Still works after 6 years of use

I still have the original Magsafe Power Adapter from when I bought my mid-2010 13" MacBook new about 6 years ago. Yes, there have been a few problems, occasionally with it, but I was able to solve that with a quick tech support call to apple care. Other than that, it has never failed me, even after years of traveling with my MacBook and taking it back and forth to college. About a year ago, the wire casing (covering the wires) right under the part that plugs into the computer broke, due to my own negligence, I think. To my surprise, even with exposed wires, the Magsafe power adapter is still working perfectly. I have since wrapped it in electric tape and continued using it, I have now decided to replace it, only because I have gotten tired of having to rewrap the cord in electrical tape and because a few of the exposed wires are bent, which makes me think that it has gotten somewhat unsafe to use now. But, the cord and wires have NEVER gotten hot or even warm and my laptop gets used daily.

No issues with adapter after 5 years of use.

I'm not sure why everyone else seems to have so many problems with this adapter. I've had the same original magsafe adapter that came with my MacBook that I purchased back in early 2012 and I've had zero issues with it. It's always charged my device just fine, and the wires are not exposed or tearing at all. Common sense, if you throw the adapter around and are careless with it, it's not going to last as long.

    Great Product

I've been reading the reviews and i dont understand how everyones chargers are always breaking. I've had my charger for almost 4 years now and its still in perfect condition. As long as you take care of your electronics you should have no problems with this product. Im very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it.

I've had them for years with no issues

I'm writing this because of all the negative reviews. I've had my computer for a little over 4 years and no problems with the computer or adapter. I had the same adapter for my 2008 MacBook and the only reason it's not working now is my then puppy got to it when I wasn't looking (and even considering he bit down to the wire, it still worked most of the time for months). I'm always careful with my electronics (puppy notwithstanding) but I don't think you should have a problem with this item if you're reasonably careful.

    Just fine

I've never had a moment's trouble from this charger in the past six years until my cats got ahold of it and chewed it to pieces. There is something in the white cable that attracts them...some chemical or smell. They don't chew any black cables, just white ones. Expensive cats. They should get a job.

    I love it!

I've had my Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro for about two years now, and I absolutely love the MagSafe 2 connector. It's super convenient and has saved my rMBP from a fall more than once. I don't understand everyone complaining about the build quality, I've had mine for two years and I haven't had any issues, and it's not breaking whatsoever. People must just be very irresponsible with their cables. I treat mine normally and it's in nearly perfect condition.

What's the problem? Works great, has been durable!

I have had my macbook air for many years, and now have to replace the charger only because my cat chewed through the wire. Cat's lucky he's cute because this charger has been used a lot, tossed around, and was still looking and functioning like new before he sunk his teeth into it.

Not sure what people are doing

I'm honestly not sure what people are doing to their poor chargers, but mine is still going. I've had this for 3 years, and it isn't frayed/not working etc. I use my laptop for hours every day, carry it with me in my backpack, toss it around, and it's still strong as ever. Like I said, not sure how most of these people manhandle their products but if you use it like a human being, it's a great product.

    breaking cord

It hasn't broken yet, but I'm impressed with how well this cord has stood up. I have had my macbook pro for three years and this is still the original power cord! I hope my next one stands up better than others. I really love the design and last year i was pleasantly surprised to find that i was able to cram the adapter into the weird plugs at my schools library. Very good for traveling to and from the library and classes.

    Fabulous Charger

I haven't had any issues with my MacBook Pro charger and I am a busy college student who takes it around and uses it nearly everyday. I am impressed with Apple's designs and I am super happy with how my laptop runs. This cord is easy to use. It has an extension cable or a smaller plug in to save space in my backpack... None of my old PCs had any features like these in the charger cables. Plus I love the LED indicator to let me know if it is 100% charged yet so I don't have to open up the laptop and check when it has been charging. Good work on this design, Apple!

    Why the complaints?

I've had my old power apapter since I've had the old MacBook (late 2008) and have not had a problem. The one I bought two years ago is now frayed, but this can be expected for a power-user. I see people complaining about apple this and apple that. Here's a tip. Don't put your adapter under a lot of strain. To complain about the fraying is ridiculous. It is a wire. All wires are susceptible to damage. Ever notice that your refrigerator's power cable points down? Yeah. That's to prevent damage by eliminating strain. Per gaps you should try that. Laptops are not made to sit in your lap, although the name says so. You must remember that it is a powerful computer that does a lot of work. The processor gets hot. If you don't allow it to ventilate, it's gonna mess up. That is basic electronic information.

Has lasted 7 YEARS and COUNTING!

I bought my macbook pro in 2008 and have used it A LOT going through medical school and beyond. I have the ORIGINAL charger from 2008 and it is still in great shape with no tears (just looks dirty now). I take it everywhere- coffee shops, libraries, everywhere I have studied and even drag it along the floor moving from one couch to another, and it is still in great shape! Which makes me think:

WHAT ARE PEOPLE DOING TO THEIR CHARGERS to make them break in 2 months (previous reviews) when mine has lasted 7 brutal years and counting!?!!

Im finally upgrading to the new 12 macbook but will be giving my current mac and CHARGER to my nephew for continued use.

Dont know what you guys do....

6 years of use, and no issues. My wife has had one for almost 4 years... again, no issues. People must not be using their brains and are either bending the cords or maybe they need to plug into a power conditioner. I know tons of people with MacBooks and NONE of them have this issue. It's like anything else, they aren't indestructible. I have had so many other issues with non-Mac laptops, and you really just can't compare the products!
