    Worst Adapter Ever

I am now on my third adapter for my Macbook Air 2011. The laptop is going strong and I love it, but my two previous adapters failed because the wire that inserts into the body of the adapter rips apart due to usual wear and tear. They fall apart every 2.5 years and that drives me nuts. OBVIOUSLY. It's not worth buying a new laptop just because the adapter is a P of S, but paying the full price of $80.00 for this accessory item six years from the date of purchase is ridiculous. What a rip off.

    Worst ever

The worst charger ever. I love my MacBook but am so sick of buying a new $80 charger every year...if it even makes it that long. You make an indestructible laptop, but a worthless charger to go with it

    Beyond Upset

I went through college with a MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air was my first large purchase with Apple since I have graduated college and have been working full-time.

I am so beyond disappointed that I am on the verge of getting rid of it. The chragers are the biggest headache and absolutely cheap. This adapter makes the entire computer junk. The quality is SO cheap in comparison to the Pro and it is so ridiculous. Run away from this disgustingly poor quality cord.

    Garbage Quality

This is my 4th MagSafe power adapter, and each has failed for the same reason: the rubber coating near the metal end just falls apart even though the cable has been treated with kid gloves. Very frustrating and disappointing for a premium-priced accessory.

    Horrible Horrible

0 Stars! I've had to buy a new adapter EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR (if they even last a whole year)! Total rip-off. Great computers but Apple is way too Greedy to charge $80 for the charger/adapter. Must be a marketing scheme for more profit. Apple- you can charge half or 1/4 of the price for the charger and still make a ton of money!

    Horrible Charger

We have had our MacBook Air for several years now and have gone through several charging cables. For the price you have to pay to replace them so much is ridiculous. I don't mind paying $79 for the charging cable, but the least Apple could do is to make the product a better quality to last longer.

poor quality of original product purchased a few years ago

Rubber covering of the wiring is poor quality and peels open for no reason. Maybe they should wrap the item in electrical tape. Won't buy another apple product.

Too low quality for $80 (eighty bucks!)

Using it for about 5 years EXTREMELY GENTLY!
Had to fix cord few times due to isolation just falling off (PVC free, sigh). Like any of Apple cords..
Just recently it was burned and switched off electricity in the house.
I'm an engineer, so decided to look inside for what happened.
After disassembly I found a bad wiring that made a short circuit and burned out few components.
Seems like an assembly issue, because components are ok overall. Adapter is made by LiteOn.
I'm really disappointed with the quality for the price.
Though computer itself is really a state of the art inside...

macbook air charger is garbage engineering

What a pain in the proverbial ! Apple has some great products but their charger for the MacBook air is garbage and is the weak link in an otherwise excellent product. Ya gotta wonder if it was on purpose so they can sell accessories. I can't believe that they could have made something so inferior when the technology is available to make a great charger that would last.
Really lowered my opinion of Apple products.

    Frustrated

Have had to replace the mag safe at least once a year. My latest one lasted 4 months. Expensive and frustrating. Bad product.

Very Disappointing, 3rd Adapter in 4 years

I am very disappointed with this product. I expect high quality products from Apple and I had to replace this adapter at least 3 times. Each time the magnet and/or cord stops delivering charge to my MacBook Air.

45W MagSafe Power Adapter Cord Fraying!

It appears that the issue I'm having with my Mac Air Power Adapter cord is not unique. It's about six years old. The Mac Air has been great and looks brand new. But, I cannot say the same for the power cord.

I've read many, many others who have taken the time to type a review stating their distain for this product. Apple produces a newer version of this power adapter, but I'm extremely hesitate to spring $80 for it. I will look elsewhere.

    Lasted Six Years

I use my desktop more than my laptop. My Macbook Air is a 2010 model. Yesterday I saw that the part of the cord next to where it connects to the laptop has damage- the rubber??? has torn off the wires. So I am buying a new adapter. So it lasted six years. Heck, I should have bought a new laptop, but this one works fine. Should I cover the broken area with electrical tape? Should I put tape on the new adapter? I guess I will check out the other reviews, which are negative.

Adapter has worked well for me.

I've had my Macbook Air computer with its 45W MagSafe 2 power adapter for about 4-5 years and the adapter has always worked well. I've been in the habit of winding the cord around the body of the adapter and storing it when I'm not using it. And there is a small (1 mm in diameter) opening in the plastic cord covering several mm up from the cord's collar at the adapter. This opening is at the place in the cord where it makes a sharp almost 180 degree angle as it comes out of the adapter and starts to wind around the body of the adapter. I"ve since started winding the cord around the flip-up hooks that the body of the adapter has for cord winding. However it still works OK.

    On My Third Adapter

These things are of the poorest quality. I don't bend the cord and keep the adapter on my desk where the cord is always straight. Yet, every single one frays at the base where the cord connects to the power supply. I've never had power cords on any product come apart like this. Apple ought to be ashamed for not addressing this problem, which has been evident every since they went to the MagSafe design. Then, to add insult to injury you have to pay $85 (with tax) to get a replacement. I'm on my third one and when it comes time to upgrade my laptop I'm going to strongly consider the competition.

    Absolutely horrendous low quality product

My MBA stands still on the desk...I don't move, therefore I do NOT plug it in or out...Nor do I touch it the Mag Safe adapter, but the cable only needed a few month...read less than 3 - before it started to break. Brought it from the Apple store (original) , went back and complained. They couldn't do anything...I was plugging it in and out to much. I stressed it was only the third time...oh but you look strong:-( Maybe I had a room with mold..yes, that he said to me...My humidity level is 40-60%..only the Apple cables do this...contacted the EU consumer protection board, quote "The drown in complains regards Apple cables"..

    Poor quality for its price

I got my macbook air 11' at 2012 as the travel laptop to replace the heavy Mac Pro. The Air still works perfectly without any problem. Love it! However, my third adapter is totally dead today, and I need to buy the forth one! The second one is free from apple, since the first one is dead after only half-year using. After that I need to pay these poor quality adapter by myself.

I really believe this adapter has some design issue. It is not make sense that the adapter has much shorter life than the laptop itself.
