    Apple - FIX THIS PROBLEM.

I have been a user of Apple products since the 1990s. The design of this cable is FLAWED. As with almost all other reviews written by customers, I found the insulation substandard. I keep the cord in the SAME place and do not even disengage it very often and yet it's frayed and just stopped working (I assume because of the risk of electric shock!).

I have no issue with the magnet and the ease with which it disengages, if pulled. That's good. BUT why is the sheath around the wires so substandard? I never had problems with the previous cable durability. What is going on with Apple? It's not as if the company is fiscally strapped and can't afford to design and manufacture a descent product. FIX THIS PROBLEM! And give loyal Apple customers a good deal on a better cable when it becomes available.

    Breaks down super easy

The charger is way overpriced for something that breaks down so quickly. The material that it is made out of falls apart similar to all apple chargers. It bends until it breaks open and frays. Horrible design. If it costs $80 it should last way longer.

    Your Nightmare Incarnated

Think of the worst thing that has ever happened to you. Then think worse.

This is that spawn of he ll that keeps you up at night, wondering how a human (or in this case a group of humans) could do this to another human. Apple, a company that prides itself in delivering quality, innovative products, lost all sense of importance when it came to designing the MagSafe 2 Power Adapter. This product is so terrible, it doesn't even deserve the pathetic sympathy star Apple forces you to give it on this form. At a price point of over $70, this charger challenges you to break it out of rage before it simply breaks out of regular use. With regular use, one can expect this charger to stumble its way to death within 6 months. With careful use, one might expect somewhere around 6 months and 1 week of usability. The AC side of the unit is the only salvageable half, while the T charger side can be likened to the thickness of an iPhone cable paired with the laptop charging capabilities of a rock. You're better off using your Macbook until it dies and just tossing out the laptop and buying a whole new unit because you end up coughing up $100s of dollars on useless chargers as a painful reminder that Apple now owns your life. Want to use third party chargers? Well get ready to be slapped in the face by Apple with devilishly tight regulation on their IP, to the point that they have a monopoly on T shaped magnetic chargers for Macbooks. Any other version will be met with incompatibility or likely fry your sensitive Macbook.

Welcome to the hole you've dug yourself and thank you Apple for throwing us the $77 shovel.

Frayed cable after 1.5 years of use

Really terrible cable quality. It frayed after 1.5 years of regular use. Worthless. And super expensive to replace.

    Apple, fix this.

Apple please make your charges long lasting!

Despite taking care to supply proper power via a spike/ups to the charger and taking care not to break the cable at the start and end, i'm facing component failure in the primary of the charger! i have dell charger used roughly on direct power...no problems at all! Why do i have to shell out 80 dollars or Rs 6600 for a charger when it could be fixed by apple for a nominal amt instead of making the user pay for a new one? This seems to be major money spinner for apple and a deterrent to people going for apple products as the laptop cannot be charged by any other means. PLease renew our faith in apple !!!

    Disappointing garbage

I switched to Apple around 2000 and have gone through a bunch of their notebooks from the Ti PowerBook, a handful of MacBook Pros, and a MacBook Air, and I've had almost every generation of iPhone, and a few iPods. Apple may make great products, but their cables are consistently awful.

MagSafe I at least worked well but II is weak and barely sticks and every single one I've ever had has turtlenecked and occasionally shorted.

Overheat, expensive, and disposable. Not what expected for 80

I had to replace my charger because the wire just broke, I do take really good care of the cable but this disposable one will cost 80 dollars to replace! It overheats and when working on my lap it easily gets disconnected.

3 chargers in 2 years 4th on its way!

It's the worst product you can buy from Apple. I had to buy 3 chargers in 2 years. The problem is the pins in the magsafe connector get burned. They are spring loaded but when they won't connect well they get burned resulting in jammed pins, resulting again in bad connection, more resistance more heat. Today I even burned my fingers trying touching the connector. Again I have to buy a charger. The fourth!. Apple why is it so hard to focus on this problem. Seeing all the bad reviews this is a serious problem especially paying 3000 euro for a Macbook Pro Retina.

    It blew up!

My Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter literally just popped like a party popper! The smell is crazy. No power surge or cause. I have taken great care of it and am really upset as these chargers are expensive to replace. I have read numerous reviews saying the same thing has happend to others. Quite disappointed.

How many "terrible" reviews before Apple FIXES this?

    Apple,
Its bad enough the stupid things DIE on an annual basis but now we get to go BACKWARDS in physical design as well?! Shortly after the original MagSafe adapter with the square body at the magnetic connection came out, the right-angle version of the original MagSafe power adapter became available which at least allowed you to USE your LAPTOP computer on your LAP without the stupid thing disconnecting! But now, with the advent of the MagSafe 2 adapter we HAVE gone BACKWARDS to the design that DIDN'T WORK the first time it was employed! Now, Apple hardware has gone the way of Microsoft software. Yes, its true, the original MagSafe and MagSafe 2 adapters are NOT interchangeable making the new one NOT backward compatible to older machines and the original adapter incapable of charging a newer machine! But if that isn't enough to be frustrated about, the design HAS gone backwards matching the design of first generation MagSafe adapters which makes it all but impossible to keep the power adapter connected while you USE it! I only regret that I am not able to give this LESS than one full star because for a company that otherwise makes such good and reliable hardware, ya done screwed this one up... completely... again!

This is a terrible piece of hardware

I really took care of the one that came originally with my Macbook (really, the exterior looks new on the outside) and it broke anyway after 2 years.

    Horrible quality

I find it scandalous that Apple produces chargers of such low quality. Mine broke already after 7 months, I paid 1 500 euros for my laptop which is very much and therefore I expect quality. A new charger costs 90 (!) euros which is a tremendous amount of money. It is really scandalous. I used a Macbook charger that I got with a Macbook in 2009 for more than 6 years and that one was made of a better material and it lasted much longer (it still works today). Why would you even decrease the quality? It really makes me wonder.

    Rare Junk From Apple

You know, you shouldn't even have to think about your power supply. It should be a non-issue. It should be invisible. This mis-designed mutant wart certainly is not.

I was introduced to my first MacBook Pro in 2009, and it had the MagSafe 1. Didn't even know it was there. I could move my laptop...set it on the arm of my chair...move it over so the cat could jump and get some love...set it on the table or retract my chair to get up and set it on the ground...didn't matter what I was doing, it stayed attached to the computer BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THE WAY.

The MagSafe 2 hangs out there just begging to get knocked off, and it gets its wish 5-10 times per night. I can't have the computer on my lap with it connected without either disconnecting it, or scrunching my legs together uncomfortably to make room on the side for the wart...but by then the cable has fallen off again.

This product is mid-90's tech and shouldn't be on a state of the art 2015 computer. Apple should be ashamed...should re-design a power supply of tech contained in the new model put together with the practicality of the old model...and exchange the re-designed supply free of charge with us that spent way too much for an Apple product to begin with. Disgusting.
