    Here's A Comprehensive Review

    • Written by Steve V from San Diego

I only purchased this Superdrive to be able to burn discs faster in El Capitan and later OS's on my 2012 Mac Mini (For some reason, third party CD burners burn at 4x or slower in Mac 10.11 and later). Functionally it works fine for me, just beware of a few things before you buy it...
    1. The USB cable is less than a foot long so you will need an extender if you want it to be longer than 1 foot away from your computer.
    2. It doesn't burn slower than 10x. For those who want to burn redbook CD masters, you might want to try a slower burning alternative
    3. It doesn't work on USB2 Macs (at least not my Mac Pro Cheese grater) but it works fine on my USB3 Mac.

Apple SuperDrive not compatible with HyperDrive

    • Written by Angela T from Benton

So I love Mac and Apple products. Went and bought a new MacBook Pro two days ago when my "vintage" MacBook Pro expired. Super excited. Bought a HyperDrive and a SuperDrive. THEY AREN'T COMPATIBLE. So now I get to go back and purchase an Apple USB C adapter just for my SuperDrive. I didn't discover this out until after I'd spent an hour and a half searching forums and support. Found the info on the HyperDrive support site. This info really should be included on the SuperDrive support site, where it can be EASILY found. I do still love my Mac, even though we are having a "tiff" at the moment.

    What about power?

    • Written by Glenn E from La Mirada

Drive does NOT work on a brand new USB 3 hub. Didn't work on my older USB 3.0 powered hub either.
It must be plugged directly into your Mac (or, oddly, into one of he USB ports on the back of your Cinema monitor. (me and the 12 other people who still have one).

    Apple USB SuperDrive

    • Written by Jace J from Second Mesa

This device works great for a while, but for some unknown reason be it my computer or the software being used, this device works great with DVD Player when playing movies but does not work when importing CDs with iTunes. So overall I say a solid 3.5 stars.

    Not the Best Apple Product

    • Written by Niloufar S from Greeley

I recently purchased this USB Drive, and I have to say that it is not the best. My CDs keep getting ejected in the middle of playing/importing time after time. When it works, it works great, but it doesn't work all the time. It's pretty much a coin toss and can be very frustrating at times. One thing that has helped me with this issue is to wait for about 30 minutes after inserting the disc into the drive to play the disc. This doesn't make much sense, but this way my CDs are much less likely to be ejected while playing.

    It's ok...

It does what it's intended to do, but I just HATE how noisy it is.
