    Won't work with 4K downloads

    • Written by Tanya B from Jacobus

I bought this so I could download movies to my phone and use with my portable projector or camper tv when traveling. Watched Captain Marvel, worked great. Tried to watch a few other movies and got a not compatible message - movie will need to be streamed. Turns out those movies were listed as 4K and not HD like Captain Marvel. It seems like every movie I want to rent is 4K making this pretty useless if I need to use wifi anyway. If you can find an HD movie to download, it works as intended.

USB POWER CABLE NEEDED TO BE PLUGGED INTO an Adapter to get picture on TV

After trying all the reset suggestions etc, it came down to finally seeing a review that said to plug in a lightning power cable into the adapter...yes there is a spot for it. Wish the instructions had been c,ear it would have saved 45 minutes searching

The only adapter like this that works, but it wears out fast with heavy use

    • Written by P. C from Harrodsburg

I’ve tried a lot of off-brand adapters for Lightning to HDMI, and Apple’s works with the least problems. With heavy use, you will have to keep buying more as they continually wear out, probably due to the tiny cable bending a lot. Anyway, I’m here to buy yet another. Enjoy.

This AV adapter REQUIRES the use of the USB power cable

    • Written by Philip C C from Belmont

I purchased this digital AV adapter to project Keynote presentations on my iPhone SE to the HDMI port on a projector or TV. The dongle, which has a lightning plug to plug into the phone provides two receptacles: HDMI and lightning, plus the box includes a lightning to USB cable. My impression was that the lightning receptacle "could" be used to charge my phone. In reality, the lightning receptacle "must" be connected to a USB power source (power adapter, battery, or laptop USB port) for the AV adapter to work. Apparently, the lightning port of the phone does not provide sufficient power to drive the HDMI conversion. Needing that USB power source is really inconvenient, especially considering that the old 30-pin to VGA adapter did not require it.

Only works if I power it

    • Written by Raymond P V from Austin

Only works if I power it - doesn't work with only XDMI connection to TV and adapter connect to iphone

I do not want to use it to do movies - just display website activity from my iphone

I do want to avoid having to connect the adapter to power.

AV Adapter does not show full screen

    • Written by James R B from Beacon falls

This adapter was working fine on my iPhone 7 with iOS 12.0. I was able to see full screen HD on my tv.
Now with the iPhone XR and iOS 12.1.2 I do not get full screen video. Also happens with iPad 10.1" and iOS 12.1.1.
Been in contact with support and they created a case - hopefully we can get this problem resolved.
I understand the frustration as I too will have the occasional need to do presentations and if the video is truncated it is a bad experience for all.

I have to turn off my iPhone, disconnect then reconnect the adapter and finally after a minute or two I get video back. Audio is fine, when is the problem getting fixed?

Stop working after ios 12 update

    • Written by Anhkiet T from Farmington

The cable is not the problem. It's the ios 12. The cable does not work with my iphone X with ios 12. It still works fine with my wife's iphone X with ios 11. To be clear, it still works on regular HDTV with a hard reset of the iphone. It does not work in my 2017 Escalade with the rear entertainment system TV. If you have the same problem, do not update you phone to ios 12. I am trying to roll back my iphone X to ios 11. FYI: wireless charging in the 2017 Escalade also does not work with iphone X. Apple please, make sure you test your products on American built products also.

11.4.1 works on iPhone 7 Plus & iPad mini 2

    • Written by Jeff R from sparks

iPhone 7plus on AT&T. And iPad mini 2 on ios11.4.1. Updated my phone to IOS12.0 digital av adapter would not work. I downgraded my phone back to ios11.4.1 and the HDMI adapter works perfect. So IOS12 doesn’t work. Waiting for IOS12.1 to see if Apple has fixed this bug. If Apple no longer allows screen to mirror why do they still sell this at the Apple store. Apple please explain. Only gave three stars because IOS12 issue

    Bit of a PITA

    • Written by n H from Boyne City

Sometimes works, most times have to unplug / replug multiple times to get it to work. Not all Netflix movies will work, mostly just the documentaries. Audio goes thru, but not video on most movies.

    Stopped working out of nowhere!

    • Written by Tracy S from Little Rock

I was so excited when I bought this product. I has researched many options to display my phone screen on my tv to watch all of my favorite shows that are on my apps. This device worked beautifully and perfectly mirrored my phone screen to my tv. I am the only one who uses it and I was always gentle with it because $49 is a lot to spend on a small adapter like this. However, even after being careful with this pricey adapter, it began to go in and out. It did this for a couple of hours anytime I picked up my phone. It had never done this before. It was going in and out as if I had unplugged the adapter from my phone and then plugged it back in. After a couple hours of this it just stopped working completely. When I unplug the adapter and then plug it back in, the blue bar that normally appears at the top of my phone screen shows up but then after about 5 seconds, it goes back off. And even though the blue bar shows up, nothing shows up on the tv at all as if nothing is even connected. I have even tried powering my phone off and back on before connecting the adapter. I'm really disappointed because I really liked this product at first. Guess I will see if I can get my money back or exchange it.

    Worked great at first

    • Written by Kathleen J. S from Millbury

When I got my adaptor it was awesome! I watched Netflix, Amazon Prime just about everything off my iPad. It worked better than the Roku! The best feature to me was you could charge the iPad while using the adaptor at the same time. All of a sudden it doesn't charge any more. I don't really have $50 to replace it. I used the adaptor a lot and to have to unplug to charge for a few hours is not convenient. I only gave it three stars because for the price, it should have lasted longer.
