    Cheaply made cords

    • Written by Amber M from Victorville

We have gone threw 6 or more these charging cords in the years of owning an iPhone . They always split right near the charging port that connects in the phone . I’m very displeased that after all these years they have not made these cords any more durable . We buy very expensive iPhones and they can’t even make a cord that last ? And charge $20 just to replace the dang thing ? My family now shares two cords over 4 phones.

This is the second charging cord I’ve had that has split close to where it plugs into the phone, and wires are exposed. I’ve had many iPhones and the last two cords I’ve had have done this. The quality just isn’t there anymore.

    Tear up easy

They easily tear up. Don’t last long. I had my iPhone for a year and went through at least 6 chargers.

I brought 2 cables from Apple within months they are damaged. How though? Because my wire is all in contact and my phone just doesn’t want to charge. Popping up with “this item may not be accessible.” And I know full well 100% it’s an apple charger and not some cheap scam. I brought it from an APPLE STORE. What is wrong with your chargers? Please fix them. The don’t last long so you might as well buy one from Poundland or something that lasts about the same but so much cheaper. Not worth your money.

    Worst in Accessories

    • Written by Chirag J from Yiwu

I have been a very avid user of Apple products, but the original accessories never last long. Cheap Knock Offs from China last longer then these original chargers. I just use 1 cable in 1 location only, i.e I have separate cables for my car, office and home uses, and take very good care for my accessories, still I am forced to keep changing my charging cables every few months. I hope Apple considers these problems seriously and develop a charger cable which is more reliant and longer lasting.

Cord is only 18 inches long

    • Written by Lynne S from Tucson

No where in the product description does it say that the cord is only 18 inches long. The original cord was 3 feet. It doesn't even reach from the usb port on my computer to the desktop.

Apple Diminishing their Brand for no reason

    • Written by Michael N from Arlington

Why Apple pays such close attention to their products, yet continues to package these chintzy charging cords with theirs devices is unfathomable.

I mean I saw Jony Ive essentially bragging to Charlie Rose about precision in the new Apple HQ, where even the area unseen by building patrons is kept tidy and presentable, yet these cords break apart quickly and Apple had done nothing to fix the issue. I truly do not understand.

I opened my new iPhone 8 plus day before yesterday. This morning, I took out this chord so I could charge my phone and play music in my car. THE CHORD DOESNT WORK. It charges my phone for 3 seconds and then stops and repeats this process for as long as I have it plugged in. Y'all are wack for selling this garbage to people and now I have to schedule a trip to the apple store located in the non stop traffic jam that is clybourn, north avenue, and halsted. THANKS LOTS APPLE. I only gave this one star because zero is not an option.

    Horrible cable from apple

    • Written by Kirene R from Easy Stroudsburg

This is like the 5th time I have to buy a cable. I am so upset about the waste of money. Yet, I have to buy it from apple because when you give other non-apple kinds a try they tend to fail after a while too.

Very disappointing apple. What are you even doing about it?

    The Worst!

    • Written by Rachelle N from Floral Park

As much as I love Apple, the company makes the most fragile accessories and cables. Of course, they are not standard so you have to order from them. They seem to break under normal use and I am always afraid that they will fray and break down.
When you need to use your equipment it is stressful to find out that you can't charge something.

    Apple, start making better cables.

    So bad, so embarrassing

    • Written by Vlad S from Toronto

For a company like Apple, or for any company for that matter, it is just downright embarrassing to make a product that consistently fails. I never ever had another cable where the insulation just spontaneously started to fray at the flex points. I've had 2 cables, both gently handled, both failed, with the insulation just fraying from the inside wire.

    Lighting Cable

    • Written by Mackenzie N from Midlothian

I have gone through 6 lighting cables in the past 3 months and spent over $80 on lighting Cables. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that the cord breaks and stops working no matter how much I took care of it it continuously broke.

This cord broke in a few months after purchasing new. A cord from a different brand lasted longer. This product is a disgrace to Apple product quality and the company in general. How hard is it to make a decent cord? It's a joke

I have needed to replace my lightning cable for my iPhone 5 a total of three times now since purchasing it. Unlike the 30pin connector for my 3rd gen ipad, which still works fine, the lightning cable (by Apple) is not suitable for daily use. Regardless it still needs to be used multiple times daily to charge a phone.

    Always Breaking

    • Written by Edward M from Swan Lake

Never in my life have I had to go though more chargers for just one device. The charger tends to bunch up at the top near the charging port. After it has had enough tension, it'll rip and ruin the inner wires. I've probably bought at least 5 of these in about a year. However, the 2 meter charger cable did last me significantly longer than the .5 meter. I recommend the 2.0 meter if you have issues with the charger cord being too short. Rather than buying $100 worth of cables in a year it's a lot better to buy one $30 and go through two of them. I truly hope Apple will make their cables knit with nylon, as my old nylon cable for my iPhone 5s lasted me well over a year before it took a hit and died out.

    for single use?

    • Written by Annie S from Beirut

if there were the option of zero stars, this would be it.
had the phone6 for a year now, purchased a dozen of chargers (not counting "borrowing mom, dad, sis, bro" chargers).
they were made for single use? for a premium product as Iphone, i was hoping a more rigid charger that would last a year, and not short my laptop & phone. i'll be buying 4 more chargers now, and spend 100$, knowing that in 4 months i'll be back to the shop, and the salesman won't be surprised :(

This charger lasts no longer than 5/6 months. This month made the 6th month for my use of the charger and it just went out. I didn't even move it around, it stayed in the same place from the beginning and I was careful with it. Apple needs to do better with the charger! How can you have top of line electronics with worthless chargers?! Can't even keep your things charged.
