    Best keyboard of its time

    • Written by Jon K from Madison

I've used this keyboard side-by-side several different kinds; giving each an adequate amount of time to get used to. This keyboard comes out on top every time. It initially feels different--almost harder to type with. Once that goes away, the keys are the most satisfying I've found. Weird to get so attached to a keyboard, but it really is well designed.

    angle of keyboard is awful

I dont know why but apple made it angle downwards toward you. it makes already difficult computer ergonomics much more difficult. do not buy.

    Great Keyboard!

    • Written by NENA M from RICHMOND

I love it! I don't know why people have given this such bad reviews. I've had Macbook Pros for years and still do. I decided to get a bigger computer for work and I love the keyboard. It is nice since it is wireless and I can position it anywhere on my desk. I can store it under the monitor when I'm finished or wherever. The charge on it keeps for months. Sure the keys are semi-loud, but that is any keyboard. Actually, it sounds better than the Macbook pro touch. My husband can't stand when I type on that. I've had nothing but good things to say about this keyboard and it's super lightweight!

    Decent keyboard

    • Written by Nakul G from Wyandotte

The keyboard is decent. Easy to connect, has all the functions you'd expect from a Mac keyboard. But I feel like the last generation one was better. This one seems more flimsy. The keys clackle loudly when even touching them and feel like they rattle when you push them around.

    Satistifed

    • Written by Alexandre V from Sherbrooke

Hate my Macbook Pro's keyboard (2018). Sticky keys, loud... and the awful TouchBar... you can't play any video game with that.

    Pros:
    - Keys are thin and close together: perfect for gaming
    - Lightning cable included
    - Bluetooth
    - Simple

    Cons:
    - Not backlit

    New Magic Keyboard

    • Written by Irma L D from San Francisco

I hate it! Really when something is NOT broke, don't fix it. This new keyboard is absolutely horrible. Keys too close together. I liked the battery operated one because I could use it right away. I have yet another cord and I have to wait until the stupid thing is juiced up. Also it doesn't have that wonderful slant for typing. I hate this $100 piece of sleek garbage. What a rip off. I have many Apple products and this is the worse ever. I hope my track pad doesn't die because I'm sure your designers have jacked that up too. Can I buy an old model????!!!

need to make this in space grey!

    • Written by GERARD T K from Weedsport

This color pairs awful with the new mac mini. The full size keyboard with the number pad in space grey is just too big for anyone who wants to use the touchpad and a mouse along side of the keyboard. The regular magic keyboard is perfect size just needs to be offered in space grey. So please start making it in this color!!!!

    Such a disappointment

    • Written by Matthew C from Seattle

The arrow keys are impossible to find accurately by touch alone, due to the left and right arrow keys not having a small gap above them anymore. This is the worst part of the new MacBook keyboards and now the magic keyboard too. Please tell me Apple didn't do this just for symmetry? This is literally form over function.

    Worst Keyboard Ever

    • Written by Timothy B from Auckland

For some unknown reason Apple have reduced the size of the left hand Shift key and the Return (or Enter) key. I am a touch typist (my trade was as a Typesetter) and I used to be able to type 80 words per minute, without typos. I now make a mistake every time I need to use these keys. If I retrain myself for this new Magic keyboard I will struggle to use any other keyboard, so I will be sending this one back and trying to find a keyboard with the correct sized keys in the correct place. What was the point Apple? Obviously this keyboard was designed by a non touch typist. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Bad design, no backlight, no Space Gray color

    • Written by Rob G from Gig Harbor

Same complaints as dozens of other reviewers: too flat, not enough key travel, NO BACKLIGHT! ...and no Space Gray color. WHEN you fix the major design flaws in this product and release a new model, PLEASE make it available in Space Gray to match your Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse in the Space Gray color. Thanks.

    Awesome Keyboard

    • Written by William Z from Las Vegas

Takes some time getting used to, but once you do, it's one of the most amazing keyboards out there. The build quality is impeccable and the battery life is outstanding.

The MacBook Pro should have this keyboard

    • Written by David K from Basalt

This is the best keyboard I've used. I'm a loud typer and make people crazy with the sound of the last generation MacBook Pro (worse keyboard ever). I use this standalone on both my iMac and MacBook pro. Huge improvement and super fast typing. I'm not sure what additional functionality people were expecting. What you see is what you get. If you want a trackpad or a 10 key order them separately or order the huge bluetooth keyboard. APPLE, please listen and fix the cheap sound of the MacBook pro keyboard - it doesn't need to make any noise at all and in quiet meetings it is totally obnoxious.

    Worked great...when it worked

    • Written by Eric K from Albany

Stopped using for a 5-6 months and has been stored in my cabinet - nothing has been spilled on it nor has it been dropped. Now all of a sudden it won't charge and will only work while plugged into the USB. Oddly, it won't work while I have it plugged into a charging block. I've always liked the quality of Apple products in the past, but it seems like lately there are expiration dates now :/

    I like it!

    • Written by Konrad G from Poughkeepsie

Good keyboard. It's low profile, but I find it easier to type on than on traditional keyboards with higher raised keys. Compared to the old apple magic keyboard, I prefer this one since it doesn't have the round bump on the back for double AA batteries. The built in battery is much more convenient, and its just a nice looking keyboard.

    Charging Good. Key Placement TERRIBLE!

    • Written by Jasmine H from Omaha

Why the Arrow Keys, and the entire top row of FN Keys were altered is beyond me. Now I have to look down to see what keys I'm trying to hit. Why does Apple continue to try and "fix" something that isn't broken? This just makes it so difficult to type and be efficient.

I never write reviews, but this is SO BAD that I had to write it. Save your MONEY. I'm so disgusted.

1 year reliability - 1/8th of my last Apple Keyboard

    • Written by Mark B from Conowingo

    Pros:
    Small
    Lighweight
    USB/Lightning Rechargable

    Cons:
    Small
    Reliability

I owned my first iMac from 2008 and a year or so after buying it bought the battery-powered keyboard. The iMac and keyboard were in great (though I did have to replace the hard drive and not-so-SuperDrive) shape when I sold them last year on Craigslist. Upon selling, I bought a new iMac in Aug 2017 and already - just 1 year later - the keyboard is acting up. The letter r would arbitrarily work/not work and then when depressing the shift, return, or some other keys, a series of letter r would begin streaming out. I made sure I fully charged the keyboard, enabled and disabled it from menu bar, ran through the recommendation for "keyboard isn't working as expected" and still had the same problem. In disgust and anger (was trying to complete a job application) I picked up the keyboard and gave it a good whack and...voila...it starting working. But it worked for only a bit. Another whack got it working again but I've made an appointment at the genius bar to get it looked at. I'm not happy that a keyboard this expensive does not have the reliability I came to expect from Apple products in the past and not having backlit keys really limits it's use in low-light conditions - I use my keyboard on pullout keyboard tray in my desk and the desktop block light from the monitor and desk lamp so backlighting would be nice...and expected at $100.

    Great keyboard

    • Written by António M from Odivelas

Got my 2015 iMac 21' in December 2017, and the Portuguese keyboard came included. Although this is my 1st high-end keyboard, I love the way it feels. My only complain is that alt and ctrl keys do not have ⌥ and ⌃ printed in too like command has, and that caused me a hassle while trying to learn shortcuts. Another little problem while using macOS but big problem in Windows 10 is the inexistence of a delete-key.
