    Best keyboard I've used

    - Comes with a Lightning cable.
    - Looks great, I like the thin wedge shape.
    - Simple. I hate those gaming keyboards that light up all different colors and give you a headache. This is just a silver keyboard with white plastic keys.
    - Works great. Characters appear instantly on the screen without any latency.
    - Holds a very long charge and charges very quickly.

    - Not backlit like the notebook keyboards are.
    - Its almost too thin, so it has the tendency to bend a little bit if you press the keys too hard.
    - The keys are thin and close together which might take some getting used to.
    - Very expensive.

    Tried and True

As a software engineer I use a keyboard very often and having the keyboard match my laptop keyboard is very helpful with muscle memory of keys. The battery seems to last forever (it's never run out on me) and the lightning charging cable is great for swapping between other devices. I've used the same one day in and day out at home and the office for close to three years now. It's been toted in motorcycle and bicycle saddlebags in all types of weather with only it's original cardboard box as it's case. Literally, the only downside is its price – like most all Apple products. Cheers!

    Exactly what was shown

This is a good keyboard. It's an apple product, so it connects easily. It charges easily. It holds a charge a long time. It's exactly the dimensions explained. It's white, small, thin, and easy to type on, like my mac keyboard. It's a tad closer to the table because it's not part of a computer.

    I'm glad I bought it.

Was really wary of this keyboard after reading all these reviews about how the thing bends because there aren't any feet under the middle of the keyboard. It's total BS. If you're pressing hard enough to bend the keyboard you should stop for a minute and remind yourself that this isn't a 1940's typewriter. It's also not a big gigantic hipster mechanical keyboard that all the cool kids are using now either.

This thing is awesome. Short key throw and virtually no key ghosting which is more than I can say for a bunch of other wannabe low profile keyboards out there today. Here's your test - hold both shift keys and then type "THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG". This is the first I've owned that hasn't had a ton of spaces and missed keys.

This keyboard rules. It's perfect for typing and gaming (which I do a lot of). My only gripe is that it's expensive. Meh.

    Best keyboard I've ever used!

I think the "Magic" part of Magic Keyboard, Trackpad, and Mouse mean its supposed to be a lot better than the average keyboard, trackpad or mouse. This keyboard does not disappoint, It is a DREAM to type on, looks sleek and beautiful and you can forget its there, and it feels satisfying to type on. The key travel is so satisfyingly short, and almost makes me type faster and lets me thing that I'm not breaking my keyboard, because my old Magic Keyboard did show signs of wear after a long time of use.. Works very well with the Magic Mouse and Trackpad. Don't listen to the negative reviews, I assume those were defect models or something, because I have never had a problem with this keyboard. Five stars.

Great keyboard, a joy to use

I have two of these keyboards - one at home and one at my office. Both a joy to type on and they last a very long time between charges. I'm confused by a lot of these negative reviews on here - they seem to be left my people who just can't deal with change from the previous model or whatever they used before.

I still have the predecessor keyboard, which I gave to a college in my office. I had to use it a few days ago to do something for him and it was so clunky and felt old compared to the newer model.

Compact with huge, beautiful keys and fantastic battery life

Love it. Compact, yet the keys are huge. Lasts a very long time. Good stuff.

Is this the keyboard of all time? No. But for what it is, it's great.

I've been on some kind of mac since 1991. I've been through it all - TV, clambook, mac clone, and on and on. This little keyboard charges with a lightning cable and stays charged for a long time. It is comfortable for typing. The keys have good functionality. I liked the old battery one I had better, but it constantly needed new batteries. This keyboard is simple and durable (have had it for close to a year). Just do it and quit whining.

    Amazing Product

The Magic Keyboard is definitely an upgrade from the old wireless keyboard. The butterfly switch design makes the keys feel very click and satisfying to press, and the keyboard was very well designed. The keyboard wastes no space which means that you can fit more things on the desk you are using it on, while keeping the device very compact and light. The battery life is amazing and charging it while using it is no problem. This device pairs very well with your Mac because all you have to do is plug it in to your device. I also recommend buying the Magic Keyboard with the Magic Mouse 2 as both are very well made products that match the Apple aesthetic and function very well in the Apple ecosystem.

Purchased for typing on iPhone SE while traveling

...so I wouldn't have bring my iPad or laptop. Is exactly what I wanted. Added bonus - will also serve the same purpose with my iPad. I'm very happy with my purchase.

    So far great, love it!

My work has me on the road quite a bit and for years I've made due with simply taking my MBP 15" along. However, there are lots of times I need to work on my MBP hours at a time and really miss the ergonomic setup at home (MBP w/external 27" monitor attached, both elevated, and using the detached wireless KB and MT). After recently seeing a colleague using a portable Roost laptop stand, I decided to give this a try. So, as part of this experiment, I also decided I'd finally shell out the extra $$ and upgrade to the new Magic keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2. My daughter and son have been using the new ones since Jan 2017 with their Mac Books and neither have ever mentioned any issues. My older wireless KB and MT have been great, love them both. However, being able to power/recharge the newer MKB and MT2 w/o worrying about bringing a battery charger along too was appealing. After trying out the new MKB and MT2 for several hours I experienced absolutely no issues w/ either. All-in-all I happy with both. I left similar review on the MT2 a week earlier. After a week on the road with both and my Roost, I'm thrilled with the setup. If you're a "road warrior" look at the combination of these three items. I just added the Pawtec Sleeve for the MKB and MT2 this week, the fit was perfect and the padding looks like it will sufficiently protect both in my backpack while traveling.

Perfect for my iPad Pro 10.5

I needed a keyboard, but I didn't like the Smart Keyboard (heavy, thick, and unattractive). Magic Keyboard is portable (small and light) and pairs seamlessly with the iPad Pro. This keyboard should be featured under iPad Pro accessories. Highly recommend!!

    LOVE this Keyboard

Was very hesitant to buy this considering all the awful reviews BUT:
Y'all crazy! I love it! Super thin and light, connects to my ipad like a dream and can type lightning speed with it.
I need to travel with it so Apple: could you please make a case for it for those of us on the run?

Waited 18 months using Magic Keyboard before writing this review

First, I am amazed at the litany of 1-2 star reviews on this keyboard. I just have to shake my head. I waited 18 months (purchased in May 2016) to write this review on purpose - I wanted to use it and then share my honest opinion. Disclaimer: I have no association with Apple or the computer industry. There is no keyboard on the market that has the response of key depression like this keyboard. End of story. I have tested hundreds of keyboards since 1995 and nothing comes close to this keyboard. I gave my son my old Windows PC and have purchased/returned multiple keyboards trying to resemble this one and cannot find one that even comes close to this Magic for his PC. It looks like I'll need to buy him a mac too. The battery life on this is incredible but it does take a while to charge! I don't crunch numbers so I don't need the number keypad version. I can't stress enough the key depression on this keyboard. It's so tight and responsive, there's nothing like it!

    Pure Excellence

I love this keyboard so much. It is the reason why I am dissatisfied with all my Macbook Pro keyboards. It has the perfect amount of travel, and snappiness, It is wonderful. Never had a mechanical problem, battery is like anything powered by AA's.

Today I tried out the Magic Keyboard 2 on an iMac Pro, and I was blown away.
It is just like this amazing keyboard, but more buttery and silky, much better than anything the Laptops bring to the table for me.

    I love these magic keyboards.

    Awesome: Best keyboard ever

I've owned both the current version (lighter and powered by lightning cable) and the previous generation (battery powered).

    I LOVE IT!!

I use one for both my home and office MacBook + external monitor setups, and my wife uses another Magic keyboard for her Windows docking station at work. It's far sleeker than those clunky Windows keyboards.

BTW, several of the reviewers are mistakenly(?) commenting on the iPad Pro keyboards instead of the Magic Keyboard. This is *not* the keyboard that connects to the iPad Pro (though technically I have used these keyboards for iPads when I had something long to type). This is the keyboard for Macs.

I actually prefer the size though I know some people who miss the extra numbers keypad (even though they never use it).

My only suggestion (actually my wife's suggestion) is to make a version in black to hide a little makeup that seeps on it when she scratches her face, etc. Also, others have suggested backlighting, which also wouldn't hurt.

    What’s not to like?

I have an ipad pro 12.9. I bought the smart keyboard cover and found it difficult to use - the keys have virtually no travel, and the keyboard butts up too close to the screen. In any event, the thing died shortly after it went out of warranty (as it seems they all do) and I was not in the mood to spend a ton of money on another one. It’s a great concept, but really not very useful. The various aftermarket keyboard covers all seem heavy and clunky, so I decided to try using the Magic Keyboard and a Canopy keyboard sleeve/ipad easel, and replaced the smart keyboard/cover with the much lighter, plain vanilla smart cover.

Contrary to the numerous negative, one star reviews here, I find this little keyboard to be a wonderful device. It’s very light, and together with the ipad it doesn’t weigh any more than the smart keyboard and ipad combo. The keys are precise and easy to use - admittedly, I’m not a true touch typist but I can type like the wind using two or three fingers, always have.

The Magic Keyboard pairs with the ipad in a matter of seconds, no problemo. I haven’t used it long enough to find the limits of battery life, but it charges up with a lightning cable and an outboard battery in no time flat. If I can get a few weeks between charges, I’ll be more than satisfied. One quibble - there really ought to be backlighting for the keys. I don’t often use a keyboard without adequate ambient lighting, but it still would be a nice feature and for the price, it ought to be there.

I’d suggest you ignore the naysayers here. This is a really useful tool and well worth the $99 investment. If you’ve got a grand tied up in an ipad pro, I don’t see cutting corners.

    9/10 good keyboard

    good, reliable keyboard.
    also good battery life

I have two suggestions for the next gen magic keyboard:
    -Backlight Display
    -Little heavier

some might not like the weightlessness, can be unsteady in certain situations ex: typing on your lap
