    Doesn't work

    • Written by Daniel K from Luxembourg

Since the beginning it didn't work very well (iPhone connecting/disconnecting all the time) now it stopped working completely. Actually the little metallic contacts on the integrated lightening connector seem to disintegrate or fall off. Some of them are completely worn and there is no more metal - so obviously it can't work. I tried fixing it by soldering a tiny drop onto them but that didn't work. I'm over warranty so i guess that's it.

Such a bad quality is not acceptable for this price.

    Keep your money

    • Written by Jacob J from Inver Grove Heights

The product has been working great for the past year or so that is until recently. When I plug my phone in at night it says it’s charging so I don’t worry about it and go to bed. This is only to wake up the next morning and find out that it wasn’t charging at all. I’ve tested other cables and they work just fine. I would’ve expected more from a $50 charger and from Apple.

Just plain junk. Negative star rating - equivalent to 5 BLACK HOLES!

    1. Overpriced.
    2. Won't work with anything other than a Lightning Cable.
    3. Tips over - bad design.
    4. Inconsistent charging.

I am going back to Android.

    Failed Twice...

    • Written by Johnny K from Rochester

The dock is wonderful... when it works. After spending $50 on the dock it failed after a couple months, Apple wonderfully replaced it free of charge after visiting the genius bar. about 2-3 months later it failed again.. Back to just using the out of the box lighting cable.

    Disconnect / Reconnect

    • Written by Frank L from San Francisco

About every 4th or so, the dock connects and disconnects every few seconds or so, with my phone doing the tell-tale buzz that it just docked each time it reconnects.

It appears that rebooting the computer it is plugged into fixes it sometimes.

    Sometimes the dock works great.

    I wouldn't buy another at $50 bucks.

    Doesn't work consistently.

    • Written by Dawn N from Westerville

The doc is a horrible design. When I'm using the dock with earphones, which is why I bought the dock, the phone often times acts like there are no earphones plugged in. It is inconsistent in making the connection with my earphones. This was the only option for charging and using earphones when I purchased my new iphone. I ended up purchasing a non-Apple adapter that has 2 lightning ports which works consistently without problems.

Useless for the current iPhone 7 and included Lightning earbuds

    • Written by Joel B from Egg Harbor Twp.

I'd like a dock that allows me to use charge my iPhone 7 while using my included Lightning earbuds (or the nice pair of Audeze Lightning IEMs i bought recently). But this dock does not support Lightning headphones, only the old standard 3.5mm analog headphones. How backwards is that? Apple should have had a Lightning-earbud-capable dock available with the launch of the iPhone 7; still selling this as their standard dock is embarrassing.

    Not Universal

    • Written by Grisela F from Miami

Bought the item along with the iphone 7 + as a birthday gift for my wife. Bought a very protective case not the garbage they sell in the store.
When we got home and tried to set up her pretty pink phone on the doc lo and behold it wouldn't attach because the case is just a millimeter bulkty.
Will return the doc before returning the case.

Asinine, useless design that may ruin your phone as a bonus

    • Written by Gavin S from Los Angeles

Apple continues to parade its failing design acumen with this product.

The entire phone is supported by only the flimsy Lightning connector. This is incredibly bad design for even the small iPhone 5, but for a giant 6S? Are you kidding? That's embarrassing to Apple and offensive to consumers.

Not to mention that the lack of proper phone support makes this adapter useless for many applications, including installation in a car. And that's the first thing I'd want to do with it, thanks to Apple's removal of the audio output from its best-selling MUSIC PLAYERS and the fact that you can't power the phone while using Apple's hokey adapter.

Want to listen to music on your drive while navigating? Apple says NOPE.

It's time to move on from a company that calls its customers stupid with every product regression.

    Shouldn't it "just work"?

    • Written by Jacopo F from Crocetta d. Montello

This is BY FAR the worst piece of hardware made by Apple. When I connect my iPhone (or iPod touch) 95% of the times it just switches back and forth from charging and disconnecting, as if the lightning port was not properly connecting. I warmly discourage buying it. Just rely on a lighting cable and for those who bought an iPhone 7... Well sorry, no wired listening to music while the phone is charging.

    Apple should really re-dseign this.

    You had ONE job....

    • Written by Stephen K from Buffalo

The connection is so wobbly and weak that when you press the screen, the audio will start blasting out of the phone speakers out loud instead of through the headphones. Causes lots of annoyances in my office. Can't wait for the Belkin splitter to be release so I can use it instead.

No good if you put a case on it

    • Written by Gordon N from Philadelphia

The design is very poor, you can't use it if you have a case that has a bottom on it, it sits to high to connect, to point less. I modifed my case and cut the bottom out so it would fit, even Apples case will not work with it! very poorly though out.

    Can't dock with case!

    • Written by Andy U from Smyrna

So I've just invested in yet another iPhone but now the hassle of keeping it protected, charged, and being able to use my new lighting earbuds will not work. This stand is all slick and stylish - but when it comes to covering the bases, it's not all rainbows and unicorns. Firstly, I have to take the phone out of the case to dock it. Then I have a 3.5mm headphone port plus charge port. Where do my lighting earbuds go???? C'mon guys! What we need is a lighting Y-cable - one port for the charger the other for the earbuds. If this is a sick attempt to get us to buy your wireless earbuds...fail. Not gonna happen.

No idea how Apple don't have a solution for this. This is insane. :(

    Strangely Bad

    • Written by Holger L from West Hollywood

There is a world of iPhone & iPad stands/charges out there. I was eager to get one made by Apple to assure best compatibility. I am baffled by how badly designed it is, with two primary problems that should never have passed quality control:
    1. As noted by other reviewers, there is nothing holding the iPhone in place but the small charger at the end of the cable you have to supply (non included in the package). The iphone wobbles left and right, sits uneven and you generally feel that you don't want to touch it or it will fall over or bend.
    2. Great idea to put an audio jack in it so you can connect a regular headset while charging it. Unfortunately the jack was placed on the back of the flimsy stand so you either have the headphone cables rapped around the light stand and turning it over and pulling it because you know headphone wires aren't that long - or you turn the stand around so the iPhone screen is facing away from you. Of course the audio jack needed to be in the front so you can look at your phone while having a headset connected.

Doesn't work with adapters I have...

    • Written by Dannielle C from Coraopolis

I tried to use this with the 12W adapter (bought through Apple), and a bunch of different adapters and it does NOTHING. I don't have the original 5W Apple adapter from my iPhone so now I have to purchase one if I want to use this. If I spend the $19 to buy a new 5W adapter and it still doesn't work, I'll probably throw it against the wall. I'd rather have a different dock that's more versatile...very disappointed. Also, when the phone is connected to the dock, it feels unsecure to touch the phone since there's nothing holding it upright or supporting it but the lightning pin. I should return this expensive little piece of junk since I can't even tell yet whether it works or not.
