    Pretty Good!

    • Written by Ty E from Owasso

I bought the iPad Smart Cover when I first got my iPad (6th gen). It works great! the magnetic hinge stays attached- even when you pick up the iPad by the cover. It actually keeps the screen clean really well, and if you are walking while holding your iPad, the cover attaches to the back. This is a great, minimalist case, but it won't protect all that well if you drop it. Highly recommend.

    Disappointed

Sell your Apple stock!!! Cheap and doesn't stay attached.
I bought this one without reading reviews.
I had one of these when I first bought my mini and it has been great. The new one is made of cheap materials and poor magnet. Total waste of money!
this is what Apple has come to!

This product is a total waste of money!

    • Written by Lauren B from Kalama

I bought a new cover for my father because his old one was very worn and falling apart (but still served its purpose). This new one has a weak magnet and won’t stay attached when trying to open it and/or prop it up. Since it was a gift, it has been more than 14 days so unfortunately I cannot return it. Do not buy! Previous versions were much better...

    Worn Out After 4-1/2 Years

    • Written by Jonathan H from Ellicott City

This is not a protective case; it won't save your investment if you're prone to dropping things. But this is the perfect foldaway cover to protect the screen from scratches and serve as a minimalist stand, all without adding much thickness or weight. If that's what you're looking for, buy this. It's actually worth the $40.

The magnetic catches are strong and never break loose unexpectedly, but after 4-1/2 years of heavy daily use the foldable "hinges" have lost their stiffness and become frayed at the edges, so the cover no longer stays tucked to the back of my iPad while in use. The rubberized outer surface has worn through the paint around the periphery of the back of my iPad, revealing hints of light silver aluminum underneath, but that's actually become a favored patina.

I'm buying another one, just not sure what color.

C’mon Apple... is this the best you can do?

    • Written by Catherine M from Ogden

This thing is worthless. When I removed it from the box, I thought they’d sent me half of a case! I think for 40 smackers Apple could send me something that has a back! The magnetic connection is weaker than the alphabet magnets on my fridge! Back it goes! Very disappointed.

Not one of Apples best products

    • Written by Charles M from Gerrardstown

Covers the iPad screen very well but the magnets are a tad weak and cover will fall off. The attachment bar has separated from the cover so a replacement is due. Until then masking tape is helping hold it together.

    Magnets don’t hold

    • Written by Teresa S from Sacramento

What a strange design. This cover will not stay put on the device. It seems the magnets (for a lot of people, including me) don’t adhere. That makes the cover useless. I just got it with my new iPad and am hoping I can return it, even though I no longer have the box. In reading reviews to try to see if I am missing a step or a piece for the cover, seeing that numerous people have commented on this as early as 2017 but Apple continues to sell the product as is. Weird.

Not good, falling off. Apple bring back the one piece leather case, please

    • Written by Joakim B from Vetlanda

This is a faulty design. Comes off far to easy and doesn't cover the delicate corners of the iPad. The old one-piece leather case for iPad Air 2 was brilliant. Protected the whole device and was nice to hold in your hand with leather all around. Apple please bring it back, now.

    Sleek, slim, and great

    • Written by Justin C from St. Louis

I was a little hesitant to purchase this cover based on the 1 star reviews but I’m glad I ignored them. The cover is exactly what I wanted!! It only covers the front and allows the back to be shown. I bought the iPad because I like the color so why cover it?! The magnets work great and hold tight in any position. Clearly the negative reviews didn’t read the description. Definitely purchase if you are looking for a cover that keeps your iPad sleek.

    Awesome Minimalist Case!

    • Written by Jefferson H from Maryville

Fits like a glove and works flawlessly on my new iPad (2017, 5th Gen) . I have no idea why others are complaining about the magnet strength? If my iPad is within inches of the case it snaps the cover in place for a perfect fit every time. I carry it around in my backpack all day and not once have I had any issue with the cover coming off.

    Just Works

    • Written by Virgil H from Austin

Just bought this cover at the Apple store for my new 2017 iPad. Works fine and stays put. Kinda like the idea of covering only the front screen. Why buy a beautiful gold tone iPad and cover it up? Well satisfied.

Cover works perfect on my iPad 5th generation

    • Written by Gary O from Chicago

The cover fits perfect on my iPad 5th generation. Again, this is not a case but simply a cover to protect the front of the iPad which is what I wanted. I wanted something slim and light weight to protect the glass surface only.

The magnets are strong enough that I can lift the iPad by the cover and jiggle it without the cover detaching from the iPad. The material is fine and the workmanship appears top rate. I was hoping that this cover would be available in leather like my iPad 1st generation cover. However, there's nothing wrong with this cover.

    Ruined my ipad

    • Written by Jared W from Laie

I now have mysterious permanent faded dark patches near where the magnets held on to my IPad Air 2. This product doesn’t deserve any more stars if it ruins the product it claims to protect. Stay away from this cover.

    Disappointed

    • Written by Gus B from Claremont

This is my 4th IPad and by far the worst yet. At least the magnetic hinge stays connected. Yet, both reading positions will not consistently hold heir place. I’m really disappointed with Apple; expecting continuous improvement. But this cover that doesn’t work as well as previous models to go on an iPad that I purchased because Apple “obsoleted” my perfectly good iPad ( with a great cover) with its latest software upgrade which doesn’t work as well as the previous version. It’s making me crazy. Just don’t buy this cover.

Why do products get worse, not better?

    • Written by Kevin M from Novato

This product is cheap. The front cover is fine. It fits. However, the wrap-around part is very flimsy. It's hard to get into the hooks and still doesn't hold the iPad up very well. I have an old cover that is sturdy and holds the iPad up at a good angle. It has a groove that the iPad fits into. Why doesn't the new one have that? I'm disappointed and am already looking for new one. Don't buy this product.

Lucky thing my iPad didn't break

    • Written by Michael B from New York

I can't think why anyone would use this cover. I had a similar tri-fold cover for a gen 1 iPad that was terrific. I can see why that older design won't work with the layout of the newer iPad's speakers. But this version, with just the magnet to hold it to the case, doesn't stay attached. Not in my hand, not in my bag, not when supporting the iPad. Had to return it.

Better than the original in my opinion.

    • Written by Brent D from Chandler

I was a little nervous seeing the bad reviews on here but wanted a cover like I had for my iPad2. I have to say the 1 star reviews must be from people who have an older iPad and the designs don't match up. I have the 2017 model and this cover connects fine. Does turn the iPad when you open it and as far as staying connected I can hold the cover and dangle the iPad from it waving it back and forth and it doesn't come off. Something I couldn't do with the original.

I had wished there was a leather option but touching the new one it has a surprising leather feel to it, you wouldn't think it was plastic. Over all I am very satisfied with it and its minimal design for protection. Buy with confidence.
