    Zero Stars.

    • Written by Allison P from Scarborough

This is the worst remote I have ever used, and like most of you I’ve used my fair share of remotes. It’s impossible to fast forward or rewind with any level of accuracy, it’s uncomfortable to hold, and generally lacks in functionality. It makes me not want to use the Apple TV, it’s that bad.
It won’t allow me to submit without stars, so I put one. Please take that as a negative one.

This remote is worse than the other Apple TV remote...somehow smaller?

    • Written by Branden R from Lemont Furnace

Terrible sensitivity and too small of a design makes for a bad combination. Constantly losing it in the couches because of how stupid small it is. Scroll never works properly and either goes too fast or not at all. A terrible product. Makes me not want to use my Apple TV at all.

    Absolutely great

Just compare it with any other remote with tons of buttons. Though this remote has only six, you have all what you need under fingertips.

Worst Remote in the History of Remotes

    • Written by Nathan M from Philadelphia

This atrocious design makes me angry. I cannot begin to capture the feelings of exasperation and annoyance I feel about this remote control in words that will help a person, especially an Apple fanboy, understand fully enough to empathize and agree.

I am tired of accidentally touching the remote when it is near me. I have to keep it far away or else whatever I'm watching might end up rewinding or fast forwarding or just outright lost. Interrupting some crucial , climactic moment in a show or movie with fits of my rage. All because I shifted how I was sitting.

I have to pick up the remote with great care not to accidentally touch it wrong and gods forbid I mistakenly believe it's right side up because there's no way to know, not in the dark... where you know, most people watch stuff.

I'm sad that Apple has no intention of changing the design of their remote back to a sensible, tried and true design that non-masochistic people would like.

I want my universal remote to do everything the Apple TV remote can do but unfortunately it doesn't. It's designed like normal human remotes, the tried and true design of decades past. But unfortunately it can't do Siri. I can't make it sleep, I can't pause, rewind or fast forward unless the Apple TV remote is first used to pause and unpause. I guess it has to be connected to use the universal remote which means keeping it nearby. The weird, buggy Apple TV remote refuses to not be required because gods forbid anyone admit that it's flawed in every possible way.

I've tried discussing this in Apple forums but the fanboys who shield Apple from their ever falling decline in quality run to its defense and blame the victim, these obnoxious people who never dare admit fallibility on Apple's part. It's a cult and it always has been.

    In fact...

It's such a bad design that my outrage motivates me enough to go all the way to Apple headquarters and throw the remote as hard as I can at every engineer responsible and scream at the top of my lungs: "HERE, YOU TRY USING THIS THING"

Because it's so obvious they've never used their own remote. Ever.

    Worst Apple product I own

    • Written by Alexander P from Westmount

The remote is so annoying to use. It is impossible to scroll properly. They tried to design it as if it were a touchpad on a laptop, but the design of the applications makes it almost impossible to use.

Easily the Worst Apple Product I've Ever Owned

    • Written by Dominik M from Fremont

I can't quite fathom how this was ever released.
    1. Can't tell which is front and back when holding in your hand.
    2. Navigating the screen is a nightmare, it's so finicky.
    3. If you drop it, it breaks.
    4. Expensive to replace.

    Please Make an Alternative Remote

    • Written by Glenn H from Hillsboro

Please make an alternative, user-friendly remote for those who find using this remote's touchpad ridiculous. Take a tip from the Roku or Amazon Fire remotes--they're not as sleek, but are highly functional (as you want a tool like this to be).

    • Written by John S from San Tan Valley

Yep, I came to shop for a replacement only to find so many other people have shattered their remotes even from small heights. Mine slid off the arm of the chair because its smooth as glass and just as brittle.

    Very hard to use

    • Written by Nancy H from Charlotte

I've been using remote controls successfully since dirt was new. Compared to any others, this one is not at all easy to use. I am considering switching from Apple TV to a different device just so that I can get a better remote control.

    Atrocious Design

    • Written by Seth B from Suwanee

The ATV remote touchpad design is the only reason I never use my Apple TV, and will be the reason I won’t buy another ATV until the design is fixed. Bring back a D pad, please.

    The Worst Remote EVER

    • Written by James C from Edina

This has to be a joke. How can Apple sell such am useless product?! It is impossible to hold this remote in an ergonomic manner. It is impossible to use this remote in any manner! The touch pad is possessed. You look at it and it is scrolling past every item you want to click. You breath on it and show over! You will end up on another galaxy. Really it is impossible to scroll through anything with the touch pad, it overshoots every time. The touchpad is over and under responsive, there is no rhyme or reason to this device! A total failure of a product. I purchase a Roku stick recently, my sanity has been saved. The Roku is a product that has common sense, ergonomics, simplicity, and it works! Every time! Get with it Apple or you will rot away.

    Apple TV remote

    • Written by Laura F from Charlotte

The remote is very small and thin. It is hard to hold and easily slips out of your hand. I dropped it from couch height and it no longer works. The touchpad is very sensitive. Please make more durable and less sensitive. A $59 replacement cost is too expensive. It's unfortunate.

A concept that was flawed from the start

    • Written by Aaron R from Archdale

No direction buttons, no ok buttons. just a touchpad. TERRIBLE idea, TERRIBLE concept, and actually so minimalist it's both lazy and counter intuitive. I've used this for 2 years now and can say that though I love the Apple TV, the remote is the worst thing Apple has done other than being overpriced on their phones.

    Another shattered remote

    • Written by Mathew H from San Marcos

Personally, I do not have a problem with the functionality of this device as I find it both sleek and ergonomically acceptable but made out of easily shattered glass???!!! It would have otherwise garnered 4 solid stars had it not been for this glass SNAFU.

Yes, I have also managed to mine having accidentally dropped it from a 4 foot fireplace mantle top. Not paying a ridiculous $59 charge to replace it either, so the iPhone App for the remote will be the way to go for me for the time being till a none glass surface version is offered instead.

    Extremely Easy to Lose

    • Written by Brendan F from Manhasset Hills

Unlike most Apple products, the Apple TV remote’s small size is not at all beneficial. It is extremely easy to lose as it can fall into crevices of couches and other furniture and it’s colors make it very easy to camouflage with its surroundings. To make matters worse, Apple lacks any service to find it without turning your iOS device into the remote.

It also is prone to lagging for no particular reason.

    Horrible device

    • Written by Giselle E from Escondido

Too small, too slippery, too sensitive. It keeps getting lost because of it's size and slipperiness. It interprets the smallest move as a deliberate action. I cannot grasp it to get better control. Epic fail.
