Best iPhone X Case on the Market... for look and feel.

I owned the iPhone 7 Leather Case from Apple and recently bought one for the iPhone X.
To help other potential buyers, here is my honest summary:

    - Premium look and feel (You just can't beat the quality, even with other brands)
    - Love the smell of real leather

    - Is not a case for protection but for status.
    - Easily scratches, even with nails and gentle bumps
    - Dropping it on ground has real potential to rip/scratch the think layer of leather, thus removes premium look/feel.

    So, to sum up.
BUY this case if you care more about the premium look and feel and you want to use it as a symbol of status $$$.
DON'T BUY this case, if you want a case for protection and think it is too expensive.

    Awesome case for awesome phone

Case ages very well. Only complaint is small mute switch hole.

    Poor quality (Saddle Brown)

The color coating on the case is rather poor. Referencing to the loss of colour as aging leather is a joke, quite frankly.
I have never seen a leather product fade out so quickly, plus it can't be cleaned even considering something like saddle soap. After three months it's basically black and smeary.
But for the first three weeks it is a very nice looking, premium feeling case.

Beautiful soft leather case that patinas over time

I am so happy with this case! Originally, I purchased a dark blue Apple silicone case, but the moment I put it into my pocket, it became a major lint magnet. I exchanged the silicone case for the saddle brown leather case and I'm very glad that I did. At first, the case was a bit slippery to hold, but now two months into owning it, it has a nice grippiness around the edges and still retains its silky soft leather feel. The leather patinas beautifully and I've found that any small scratches/indents in the leather are easy to rub away. I only keep the phone in my pocket, and never with other objects, so I imagine the case would get more scratched up in a bag or purse.

For the most part, the case fits very well on the device. The fit around the camera isn't absolutely perfect (there's about a 1mm gap around the bottom of the raised camera edge and the case), but it's not noticeable or important to me. The case is soft on the inside to protect the phone, and it is easy to remove in order to clean the device.

I haven't dropped the phone, so I can't speak to the durability of the case or its ability to protect the phone from a drop. But the front edge is raised slightly to protect the screen and the back is raised to protect the camera during everyday use. The protection seems pretty minimal, so I have a hardshell case that I use when doing more rugged outdoor activities.

The case is beautiful, well made, and sturdy. I would purchase this again.

    Poor quality

I got this case in dark red and loved the feel of the leather and protection it provided. Sadly, two corners of the case have cracked after 4 months use mostly in my pocket. Went to Apple store today and they would not replace. I will go back to hard plastic generic cases at Microcenter or Target next time, last forever and a quarter of the price. This after I had to have the earbuds replaced after four months, what’s up Apple?

This Luxurious Case Was Made For iPhone X

I’ve used to always scoff at Apple’s cases. I would lament about the price point vs the protection, and go on and on about the safety and durability of Spigen, or Otterbox cases. However I stand here, in the virtual house that Jobs built, a reformed man. This case was made for your phone. It fits better than a glove!

I opted for the Saddle Brown because it’s the only color you should buy. If you think the color is too light, you are correct. However if you give it a week or so; leave it on your desk in the sun, you will find the patina will have already started to set. The leather will begin to set in, and after a while the oils in your skin will help the grip of the case. The leather smells incredible. Sometimes I have to remind myself to not sniff my phone case in public.

Finally, yes this leather case will be prone to scuffs and scratches. If you don’t understand that the journey of fine leather goods is the distressed nature of them, I’m sure Target has some plastic cases in a bargain bin that will suit you well.

    Excellent case

This case has been great for my iPhone X. Despite having iPhones for the last 10 years, I had never tried the Apple cases. I finally tried this one after not liking the aftermarket options. The case adds some grip to the iPhone, but not so much that I can't easily get my phone in and out of my pocket. The bottom being open is great for swiping up from the bottom and orienting the phone by feel. And the whole case seems very thin and lightweight. Time will tell how the leather wears.

Perfect - Except for Mute Switch Access

The fit and finish of this case is exactly what I wanted. It gives enough protection without the bulk. I have had it 2 months and it is taking on its own patina, as you would expect Saddle Brown Leather to do, but I see no unusual wear. Leaving the bottom ridge open was brilliant. It makes for easy access to required iPhone X gestures.

My only complaint is that the access hole for the Mute Switch is too small. I couldn't get my thumb or even my thumb nail in there. I had to take the phone out of my pocket and use one of my finger nails to move that switch. I asked at the Genius Bar about trimming that hole bigger and they did not recommend it. They said there are multiple layers and the case might start coming apart. I had to do something, so I carefully cut a notch around the Mute Switch with scissors - just enough for the flat of my thumb to reach it. It is perfect now! I can reach into my pocket and check the position of that switch, mute it or unmute it as needed. So far the case is holding together just fine. I can appreciate the designers wanting to protect that switch from unintended movement but they over did it by making that hole way too small. This case is perfect now after my little modification.

    Doesn't Last

This case is good for about 2 weeks. After that it turns black and the corners wear out. Not worth the price tag.

    Most Acceptable

Let me preface this review by saying I received this case as an appeasement/gift from Apple for a less than perfect customer service experience(which for me is rare).

I am impressed and pleased with it. First, it's high quality leather with just the right amount of tackiness for gripping. The fit is dead on and goes on and off with minimal effort. It feels simply like an extension of the phone as opposed to a add on. One thing that is superior to the Spigen case I was using: the bottom is open except for the corners. Before receiving the item, I assumed it was for accessibility and prevent sound reflection. That may be very well true, but being able to swipe up from the bottom just as the phone is designed for, added a large amount of unexpected pleasure to using the X. You don't first have to raise your finger over protection then swipe up. It's great and much more natural.

I doubt it would provide the protection that much bulkier cases would in the event of a drop. But it would provide some or enough for a majority of situations. Depending on how you treat your phone, this may not be your case.

I would not hesitate to spend the money for the case after getting one. It's an absolutely perfect case for myself and I suspect the majority of iPhone X users.

Pros: - Top quality leather/immaculate craftsmanship
    - As close to not having a case as you would want
    - Excellent tackiness
    - Great blend of protection/form

Cons: - Not recommended if you play loose and fast with your phone

    Superb quality!

Having owned and used a leather case on my iPhone 6 Plus, I was eager to try the leather case when I bought a new iPhone X. Wary of how the saddle brown wears and what kind of “patina” I’d end up with when it was finished had me nervous but I pulled the trigger and splurged on this expensive case for the X. I wasn’t disappointed. The first day or two it was a brighter, soft caramel color but a little too bright and the case was slippery to touch and use on the phone. After a few more days, the color darkened to a gorgeous almonds and honey shade. Rich and deep with a dark, golden hue that’s really attractive. The best part was that the case got soft to the touch and grippier when you hold it. Any mild scratch is easy to remove with a gentle rub of your finger. It’s a gorgeous case now and a delight to use.

I bought a black leather case too as a spare in case this brown one ended up looking horrible but now I doubt I’ll ever use it. Really, really happy with this case. Highly recommend.

    thick but horrible

really? an iPhone case that is 50 bucks and taxes? if you have iPhone trade program, you trade a phone and get a new one for under $60.
the case+phone= my wallet! the case does not give a lot of protection and acts thin when it is the ugliest thing ever. there are cases out there for 10 bucks that have better protection than this.

    horrible case-do not buy

Please do not buy this. I was given it for Christmas. I was looking forward to a professional look. Unfortunately, the case comes apart at the bottom near the beveled edge. Apple would not replace. It looks great, but does not hold up. Very expensive for a case that does not last beyond 6 weeks.

    Handsome, Not Durable

I have had my case for one week and am a pretty gentle phone user. The case was in my purse and from normal wear and tear, the leather is ripped and dented. Really disappointed - replacing after seven days.

I've always been a huge fan of Apple leather cases. They are beautifully designed and manufactured from real leather and have a quality leather scent. Not only are they slim, they also protect your iPhone really well. The case has enough protrusion to protect the camera lens and the front display from coming in contact with any surface. (Dropped my iPhone X from waist height- landed on it's back, and it had damaged the case, but the phone's glass back was not damaged.) The best part about these leather cases is that over time the leather wears out and changes all depending on how you treat it. (For Example, the Saddle Brown might look like a light brown at first, but after using it for awhile, it will turn a beautiful dark brown color.) It does work with wireless charging. (Props to Apple for that.) The only downside is the bottom of the case is open, so the bottom of the phone might not be protected if you drop the phone and it hits that gap just right. But, overall it is a durable, good looking case!

    Easy to scratch.

I had an apple silicon case and I decided to buy an apple leather case. In my country, it was not cheap and I was thinking long before buying it. Very frustrating when it is easy to scratch when you drop

    Scratches easily but looks nice.

I have had this case for a week and today I dropped it for the first time on a smooth tile floor from about 3.5 feet and it put a large scuff and scratch breaking the surface of the case. On top of that, within the first day, light scratches started to show up from fingernails or zippers (going in and out of a pocket). I’m am very disappointed with how fragile this case is. The fit is only okay; the camera hole is not perfectly aligned leaving a gap at the bottom and not the top. Apple really let me down with this case. The only thing going for it is that the buttons feel nice and the brown leather looks nice and feels soft.

    Love it!!!!! Saddle brown leather

This is a very high quality case and I’m super happy with this purchase. You can even see the grain of the leather which adds character. I wasn’t so sure in the beginning because the light colored leather around the bezel of the phone stood out so much that it was distracting. I read a different review that said it gets more beautiful as it petinas. That turned out to be so true! The leather is now darker in the areas that your hands contact the leather. I love how this color is more unique than black or clear cases.
The case is solid and can handle being dropped. This thing is both stylish and protective. I’ve owned other leather cases, and this seems to be something that will last a very long time.

Classy case, but not much protection.

I went to see this case in an Apple store after viewing it online. I was disappointed at the fact that the case is thin and flimsy. The pictures online are very deceptive. I would not recommend this case for anyone hoping to protect their phones, however it is a classy case and compliments your iPhone well. If you are looking for more of a protective case, I would check out the silicone apple cases.

    Best iPhone X Case!

The leather feels really luxourious and premium in your hand, unlike the the silicone, which gets greasy over time, and collects lint. The metal buttons make it feel like you are just pressing the buttons on the phone itself, and it provides good protections. The microfibre lining prevents scratches, and the screen/camera bevel make sure it doesn't make contact with the ground. The saddle brown colour is a classic, and one of my favourites, because it patina's in a really beautiful way.
