As others have reported, the case becomes wrinkled. I like the design and fit but the material is not good. It only took a few months for the wrinkles to begin showing up. Apple should issue replacements because we expect and pay for quality. This does not meet good quality for the price of the case. Steer away from buying it.

    High levels of meh

    • Written by Sean M from Omaha

I'd be fine spending $20 on this case, but not $79.00. Big 'ole ripoff when a couple slabs of faux leather get scuffed up with just a fingernail.

Whoever designed this Folio for 11" Pro should be fired!

    • Written by EARLE D from West Lafayette

Don't buy this, its expensive, uncomfortable, sharp edges and doesn't stay on. The edges are exposed so if you drop it, on a corner, your iPad Pro 11" is toast. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

Very poor material selection and performance

    • Written by Michael K from Cape Town

The front and back PU surfaces have become wrinkled near the opening edges. I believe it was caused by the heat from the iPad during charging while open with cover folded back on itself. The PU material used is too soft for the heat generated during charging. The cover material should be able to withstand these temperatures whether the cover is open or closed. I was disappointed when Apple did not release a leather Smart Cover for the new iPad Pro so bought the PU model anyway. The poor selection of colors is also disappointing. Given the percentage of one star reviews here Apple should withdraw this product. It is poor quality and well below standard for Apple, especially given the premium price charged by Apple.

    Sad quality

    • Written by james D from Cedar Rapids

Faux leather rippling around the back middle of case, I’ve only had this folio about 3 months, quite sad since all of my other apple branded cases have withstood the test of time. This product quality should be a whole lot better for the price. Do yourself a favor and go with a third party case!

    Nice in theory...

    • Written by Lisana B from Bronx

...But the execution of this case is really poor. It doesn’t wrap around the corners, and if you accidentally pick up the back instead of the front, it’s coming right off. It doesn’t wrap around the pencil, so you can easily pull it out of your bag and have the pencil not attached. I went with this one for the color, and I now get to pay for a device replacement because the cover came off and hit the floor in the garage. I’ve already picked the OtterBox case that will replace this one.

The case is wearing down after only three months

    • Written by Victor H from CDMX

The synthetic material is wrinkling where you grab it and is getting stained. Have had it for only three months. Seems Apple tried a different material and it just didn’t make the cut. Sad experience as the case is not cheap.

    Design flaw along the edges.

    • Written by Rob K from Chicago

I’m on my 3rd case now, and they have all developed a strange serration along the open edge, right where my right hand touches the case with the flap folded back. It makes for a soft but nonetheless uncomfortable serrated knife-like edge. I don’t know if it’s from being stretched as I type, or my skin's pH balance, but the formation of tiny serrations along the edge in the exact sample place on 3 examples leads me to believe there’s a defect in the material used to seal the edge.

Lack of colors, is not leather, and magnets are iffy

    • Written by Rob C from Atlanta

I like this case for its simplicity. It is durable and tough enough to withstand scratches etc.
However, where the colors? my 10.5" has four different Apple branded screen covers in four different colors so I can swap out based on my mood. Choices here are dull gray, pink, and dull white.

Second, not leather. Is a bit slippery in the hands and has also just slid out of a bag sitting on the edge of my bed. Luckily I have carpet in my bedroom. And since not leather, has a spongy plastic feel. I don't mind that, but leather always has a better texture and will not show smudges, etc. I have fingerprints all over the case. Facetious, yes. But at $79, I can be that way.

Third, this new attachment style is great and all but I feel is a design misstep. Because although they went and solved how you pair, store, and charge the Apple Pencil......they did it in a design locked way. No matter whether I buy the Apple Pencil 2 or not, I have to accept this new design. I don't much care for protecting the back of my iPad. I use it in the house and at work and I am not particularly clumsy. I have never dropped any of my iPads.
The problem is that the magnets on this new back design are not strong enough. There have been moments where I would tri fold the case to set it down on the table in an upright posture and the 11" thing just dropped right out of the case. I get that it shifts around because these magnets are not latching like the previous three gens, but still....

So, I guess with Angela leaving they are abandoning any fashion sense with the iPad and turning it into another one of their charcoal dull gray product lines where engineers solve problems some people didn't need solved.

Worst Apple product I've ever bought

    • Written by Skye W from Seattle

I've been an Apple customer for 30 years, and this is the first item ever that I'm returning out of pure disdain. I was on the verge of returning the iPad Pro itself, until I took it out of the Folio again to use it and realized it wasn't the iPad that felt awful, it was the Smart Folio. It's sharp, the two sides together add quite a bit of thickness, the magnets are iffy at best and it'd slide out in certain situations which worried me. I'm coming from an Air 2 with just the basic Smart Cover, which never had any of these problems. I'm returning it without a clear replacement strategy since they don't offer a Smart Cover for this model, but I know I'll need something that functions as a basic cover and stand and will be shopping 3rd party I guess. Terrible, just terrible — and the price! $80 for what feels like extremely cheap materials compared to my old Air 2's Smart Cover even, is flat out insulting.

Has begun to fall apart completely.

    • Written by J W from Littleton

The previous Smart Covers and cases I’ve had for previous iPads have all lasted at least a couple of years, but this one is already beginning to feel like it’s on the way out. I liked this case to begin with, but the materials feel non- durable after a few months of normal use.

    Quite disappointed.

Stay away from this cover if you want any protection for your iPad

    • Written by Cynthia L from Homewood

The cover gives no side protection and no protection of the pen. The pen bumps off easily and with no side protection, A side impact damages the IPad casing and screen. It is nothing like the prior leather IPad case. I have had two prior IPad versions with 2 prior apple cases. Both of the prior cases covered all sides of the iPad and protected it from falls/drops. I had accidentally dropped mine more than once and had no issue. Not so fortune with this one. Based on my history of no breakage, I mistakenly did not purchase Apple Care. It is insanely expensive to repair. Don't be fooled. This does not protect your iPad from anything more than a scratch.

Painful edges, heavy, cant stand iPad without theyboard sticking out

    • Written by NICK P from TORONTO

This case fails on many levels - soooo not worth the 279$ + taxes! The edges super sharp and are cutting into my fingers. The back is slippery and the keys stick out the back making it super distracting and uncomfortable to hold. Will repeate the edges are so sharp you will not be able to hold the iPad without some ongoing pain, this is the least comfortable tablet case i’ve used, very surprised apple released this. Typing is great on it, but they removed the ability to stand up the iPad without the keyboard sticking out, so it’s a major space waster (usually ipads are great for presenting material and videos, but you can’t fold the keyboard away while standing it up, so now it’s always taking up the space as a small laptop / and the keys look more distracting than just being able to see your content. I’m returning this before it cuts my fingers right open, and waiting for the Logitech slim combo to be released for the 11 inch iPad Pro., and also this thing makes a lightweight iPad now feel really heavy. honestly I just take it off most of the time

Wish i could show a Pic, No protection, worn out after a month. Disapointed

    • Written by Matthew C from Plainfield

I ALWAYS use an Apple case for my iPad's. They just always feel like quality, and always fit well...except this one. This one is horrible, and after only a little over a month of use, it looks WAY worse than my 9.7 Pro's case (which was 1 year old). The material is cheaper, no doubt, I could feel the difference as soon as i touched it. The protection, is a joke, magnets are not strong enough. I dropped my iPad from about 4 feet, and of course, it landed on the corner. The case popped off, and the iPad took the entire impact. Screen and body destroyed. I haven't broken an iPad screen in the 10 years I've owned them, ever, and yes i have dropped them a few times. The iPad is flimsy, but this case is useless.

Dang, I really wanted to like this cover...but it stinks

    • Written by Forest K from Boulder

So, please hear me out. I'm a total Apple fan-man...? Our family is totally Apple in every way. When I upgraded from my iPad Pro 9.7" to the new 11" model I was so stoked. And, like with the 9.7", I went ahead and purchased the smart folio/cover for the 11" Pro. When I first put it on, I was like...okay, this seems sort of adequate...cool lines and I can see all edges of the iPad...let's try it out. Not 3 days into having my brand new iPad, trying to negotiate closing the cover (the magnets are pretty strong and stick to each other very well when you have the cover flipped to the backside), the darn thing slipped out of my hands and down to the floor. The old cover would've been fine as it protected the corners quite well - for small falls like this one. Well, hello new corner-ding on my brand-spanking-new-iPad. All I have to say is that Apple designed this cover as a museum piece and it's not all that functional or protective - at all! So, I'm putting on a $20 cover that protects the corners of the iPad - the most vulnerable areas. Why Apple didn't have this folio protect the corners is beyond me. Save yourself the $80 and buy a highly rated cover/folio from another vendor. Lame on you Apple for this very poor design.

Do not buy, it just pops off the iPad when dropped. There is no protection, there are better alternatives, which I purchased elsewhere. This will be going back.

    Save your money

    • Written by Ivor G from Austin

This is the least useful piece of junk. It provides no protection whatsoever to the iPad it covers. For $70 plus Apple should do better. Accidentally drop your iPad in this thing and you can expect the corners of your $1000 device to get trashed. Mine did. Why did I buy it? Well because at the time I thought it was better than nothing. Which.....at the time...the only option was just this worthless thing or nothing at all. My recommendation to you readers...don't make the same mistake I did. Buy a sleeve or wait until someone who knows what they are doing designs a case that actually protects the product. At the moment....that someone is NOT Apple.
