    Average Sound Quality

    • Written by Brian G from Los Angeles

I got my most recent pair of Beats Studio3 Wireless headphones and was very excited because these are the newest models. I'm so thankful that my headphones came with my MacBook Pro as a free promotion because I would've been much more upset if I had purchased these headphones separately. The sound quality of these headphones are not worth $350. These are purely for style and branding (status). I chose the Midnight Black Skyline Collection edition for that reason, but I definitely expected better quality. I have an older pair of Beats Studio Wireless headphones that sound much better than these. My guess is Apple re-fitted the design of the product with its own sound technology after having purchased the Beats trademark (which definitely leaves something be desired, since I have 2 pairs from two different models of the same product to compare). Noise canceling feature is much better than the older Studio Wireless headphones I own, so they've improved that. They've also focused more on integrating the new Beats Studio3 with all OS software for the purposes of the Apple ecosystem experience for us Apple loyalists, of course. You win some, you lose some. If you prefer higher quality sound and a more bass effect from your headphones like I do, try to seek out older Beats Studio Wireless models or try BOSE QC35 II, or SONY Noise Cancelling Headphones. Beats Studio3 Wireless are not the worst, but not the best either.

Meh! They came with the laptop...

    • Written by Emee C from Tracy

These came with the MacBook Air and I can see why they're giving them for free. Immediately out of the box, the volume on the right side was considerably lower than the left. My son thought it was just his grimy ears but I heard the same when I tried them. I'll reiterate, this was fresh out of the box. In addition to the differing volume levels between left and right, they never fully charged. I suggested maybe to charge them overnight and see if the sound quality improves. It did not. AND, it never charged fully to 100%. It would charge to 95% at max, then immediately drop to 94% once unplugged.

We tried exchanging them at the Apple store but the promotion ended and the Genius said "systematically" he can't do a simple swap. But since it's still within warranty, Apple shipped them back for repair. I was just notified that they'll ship me a new one. Now, after reading similar reviews, I'm hesitant to open them and consider selling them, unopened box.

If you're looking spend your hard earned money on nice packaging, a logo, but with 'meh' quality then these are perfect for you.

    Best headphones I've ever had!

    • Written by Melinda H from Springfield

I got these with a laptop purchase. They are the best! Clear sound and the noise cancelling function is amazing! My dog unfortunately chewed them up because I accidentally left them out one night and I went and bought another pair, I loved them so much. lol

I think a lot of people complaining about the quality of sound don't realize that when you use the wireless function, you basically have to turn the volume almost all the way down on your laptop/iphone. Turn the volume down on your device and turn it up on the headphones and you'll have amazing sound!

    Good Headphones

    • Written by DAVID H from Mesquite

These are really good headphones. I don't have a lot of confidence when it comes to the Beats brand because I had the wireless Sport PowerBeats for a few months and the ear piece broke off in my ear. I would NEVER pay $350 for these headphones; I don't think they're worth it. These were free with purchase with my MacBook Air. Overall, they are good headphones. These offer good sound, nice materials to the touch and they are comfortable to wear. The packaging was also nice. The noise canceling is good as well. I purchased the COWIN E7 PRO headphones on Amazon; they are amazing headphones for $80. The noise canceling isn't as good, but I tuned out everyone at Starbucks just fine. If you're looking for name brand headphones, I say go for SONY or BOSE. Like I said, these were free with purchase. I wouldn't spend $350. There's no $350 wow factor. I feel like my four-star rating is generous.

    Sounds like a mud puddle

    • Written by bryan D

Got these when I bought a laptop. The closest-in-price headphones I’ve listened to extensively are the Grado 225’s I bought 15 years ago ($150 or so). I also have various Pioneer SX (1970s)/NAD/B&W/JM Labs/Speakerworks home setups, so I do have some idea of what good sound is. I also use the same reference tracks that I use to judge setups. I’ve listened to Abba’s “Take a Chance on Me” on dozens, possibly hundreds, of equipment combinations. On a good rig, you hear brilliant separation and dynamic range. You feel like you’re in the room, surrounded by instruments. Crisp, punchy, tight, and engaging.
Through the Beats, it sounds like dumping mud puddle in your ear. By far the worst I’ve ever heard, including the time the magnet fell of the back of the tweeters of my JMs. The bass is loose and sloppy, and the mids and highs seem to be trying and failing to sprint up a crumbly sand dune to catch up. I’m trying to think of other descriptors, but I keep coming back to muddy. Sticky, clay-y mud. I’m beyond disappointed, I’m offended.
If you got these with a laptop purchase, leave them in the package and sell them for whatever you can get.

Worst headphone sound ever!Shame on Apple to sell such poor quality product

    • Written by CLAUDE L from Mercer Island

Beautiful box, beautiful design, comfortable headphones ... horrible sound !!! What matters more? To me, top sound quality should be a given in a $350 product. I am shocked and angry at Apple (I have been a faithful customer to nearly 30 years, and have owned over 30 Macs). I feel I have been betrayed by Apple in trusting their reputation for top quality. If they are so demanding with quality and perfection, how could they allow Beats to sell such poor products?

Broke in 20 days. Cannot return after 14

    • Written by William F from Woodbridge

Headphones stopped working after 20 days for no reason - wouldn’t sync, wouldn’t reset and wouldn’t power off. The return policy is for 14 days so I couldn’t return them. Had to get warranty repair which meant it was sent away and I didn’t have use of them for a week. Not very reassuring that they are so unreliable and in a year if I have issues and it is out of warranty I’m out of luck.

    Beats Studio 3

    • Written by Jayden B from Pompton Lakes

So, for a while I had no headphones that worked with my school laptop. I told my parents that I needed headphones and decided to try to get the Beats Studio 3. Yesterday I finally got them. Simply put, I love them. First of all, they look awesome. A lot of my friends told me how cool the headphones looked. Second, trey sound good. I don’t find anything particularly special about the sound quality. Its pretty good. I wouldn’t say the bass is as intense as people say it is but maybe that’s just me. Third, they’re very comfortable. Without noise canceling on, the headphones feel really good. Much better than earbuds. With noise canceling, they feel weird. They kind of feel like they’re pulling on your ears. It’s not unbearable, though. Speaking of, I was amazed by how noise canceling feels to use. While listening to music, you basically can’t hear a thing. Without music, every sound I hear sounds about 59% quieter. Also a side note: When I unboxed the Beats Studio 3, it was the best I ever felt opening a box. If you’ve seen an unboxing video on them, you would get why. So that’s basically it. While I do think these headphones are overpriced and should be $259 at most, I recommend these headphones to anyone looking for wireless headphones who uses apple devices. For Android users, I still recommend it, but slightly less.

Design 10/10, sound 10/10, fun factor 10/10, they doesn’t look like any other headphones (in a good way) but the plastic on hinges (these gold covers) looks cheap and not reliable

    Great sound, poor quality

    • Written by Dmitriy M from Royal Oak

Headband cracked on both sides after 2-3 month of use. I will try to get them replaced, but according to reddit this is very common and I'm sure new pair will do the same after a while... Sound is great tho...

    Good Headphones

    • Written by David D from Zealand

For what these are designed for I really like them. I am going to school for music production so I'm pretty picky about sound. They are really good for listening to music while traveling, coffee shop, library, ect. I always use them when I do homework even if I'm not playing music because they have good noise cancelling. They have good clear sound too. However, if you're looking for headphones to mix with or use in a studio setting I would get something else.

Bad sound quality, lots of lag

    • Written by vinod V

I thought these headphones were good since they are so expensive! The lag is unbearable! I have AKG headphones for my Samsung Galaxy S9+ and they cost half the price-with better sound quality! I feel these headphones are just status symbols and they aren't made for the best customer satisfaction. I will be returning these headphones! Do yourself a favor AND STAY AWAY! There are many other headphones that cost much less with better sound quality and less lag.

The Skyline Collection is the Limit!!

    • Written by Jim N from Milwaukee

These are simply the best headphones for me. I'm constantly moving around and they stay on my ears and provide pristine sound. The best features thus far is the ability to cancel noise surrounding me. Once I go to my Bluetooth setting and adjust to cancel the noise, everything around me disappears automatically. Where were these years ago when my mom was nagging me to clean my room....LOL!!. They are worth the expense.Get a pair today!!

    Best headphones I ever used

    • Written by David G from Waupun

Oh, my God. Most of my life I was a professional musician. I'm very picky about sound quality. I try to use nothing but the best. I have Bose and AKG headphones, best ones they make, but when I switched to the iPhone X the Apple store had these on sale (wireless), so I bought them. Wow. They are awesome. Don't even look at anything else, just buy these. I absolutely love mine. Find myself listening to music a lot more now because of them.
