One drop and it was done.

    • Written by Curt C from Cincinnati

I liked it at first, but just seemed to be a skinny stylus. I dropped it once and the tip flattened as a result- causing it to no longer work at all. I’ve only had it for about 10 days now. Wasn’t what I expected.

    Don’t do it.

    • Written by Teresa R from Citra

I would give this 0 stars but it’s not an option. I had the first generation and loved it. I gave it to my daughter when I upgraded my iPad and had to get the second generation pencil as it’s the only option. It doesn’t consistently write. Sometimes it doesn’t write at all or it skips while writing. It’s very frustrating and it’s even more frustrating that I’m out of the return window. I would not waste my money on this if I were you.

    Magnet is terrible

    • Written by Gregory T from Washington

It falls off incredibly easily, lending to it getting broken or lost. Fell off mine to an irretrievable location, and loss isn't covered by apple care. Huge disappointment.

Premium price, but it’s a downgrade

    • Written by Brian N from Palo Alto

The new apple pencil is absolutely cumbersome if you own other iPads that support Apple Pencil because Apple pencil 2 only can works with the latest iPad Pro ! Plus, for such a premium price, I expected Apple to include at least an additional tip, but guess what, no tip is included despite more expensive than previous generation and almost-the-same performance with the trouble tap feature.
Ok, let’s talk about the issues I’m experiencing with this pencil. Within first week after purchasing it, the pressure sensitivity dropped significantly, and of course it wouldn’t be an issue as i can simply file a warranty claim, which i did. But it took Apple more than a week (around 10 days if i’m not mistaken) to just replace the stupid pencil, thus no work can be done for the ENTIRE week. Secondly, the new Apple Pencil is so fragile, I still remembered when I was testing the pressure sensitivity on my Apple Pencil, i heard a “crack” sound from the internal of it, no sure if something broke or what but the build quality is definitely awful for such a premium accessory. Not to mention you can’t even repair it, find it if misplaced. So just be extra careful if you are a new Apple Pencil user.

    2nd pencil

    • Written by Peter H from Yorktown

First pencil worked as a charm , then after three weeks it stopped charging , tried everything to make it charge but to no avail. Watched it trickle down to 0% . Replaced it threw the retailer for a new pencil , now after one week I have the same issue !!! Really !!!
Apple for sure is getting cheaper and cheaper but charging premium prices !!
Time to get the third pencil I think and debating of moving away from Apple products , I don’t mind paying premium prices for reliable products but not for something unreliable like that !

    Too fragile for $129

    • Written by Michael H from Leesburg

Fell from 3 feet onto floor and sheared the nib off damaging the threads it screwed into. After removing remnants and replacing the nib, the pencil would charge and connect but not work. Add $10 or $20 and make it out of aluminum or something...or was it being so fragile and irreparable the plan to begin with?

    Not worth the money

    • Written by Darcy D from Catlin

Magnet definitely not strong enough. Pencil fell off within first week of owning it and there is no way to track it. Extremely disappointed! Way too expensive to be able to lose so easily with no tracking!

    Overpriced trash

    • Written by Jacob C from Tacoma

The magnets are trash like they used some cheap refrigerator magnets or something. Can barely support the pencil’s weight. And I bought directly from apple.com, so it’s not a chinese knockoff.

Pencil is not worth the purchase

    • Written by Erice K from Grovetown

I purchased the pencil approximately 14 days ago., The tip of the pencil looked like it is melting away. You can now see the metal in the tip. I took the pencil to apple store and they could not repair or replace the tip. Because I did not purchase it from an apple directly, their is nothing they can do, I am basically out of money and a pencil unless I purchase another one.

I do not draw nor do I use notepad, so the pencil is basically useless anyway. Totally disappointing. Thought the manufacture warranty would cover any defects but not in this case according to the Apple store in my home town,

    Easy to Lose!

Falls off often, magnet is not strong! I kept it in a save place and still lost it. Also doesn't swipe up which is disappointing. Won't replace unless a better version happens soon.

Totally useless unless you use it to scketch and draw on the iPad. Otherwise too expensive and you won’t know what to use it for.

    Easy To Losd

    • Written by Mister N from Mesa

It's cheap, fragile, and you can lose it quickly. It's an expensive product that wasn't designed with a place for your pencil. Most cases aren't even built for the 2nd generation pencil to sync/charge-up with the Ipad. The cases for the pencil are also flimsy & also increases the chances of losing your pencil.

    Easily lost

    • Written by Michael J from Eatons Hill

For the price of it its very easy to lose. There's no find my pencil (like earbuds) and the magnetness isn't that great it easily gets knocked off when tucking into the back of an airline seat.

There's very few cases for the new ipad pros around that cater for the pencil.

    First Impressions Not Great

    • Written by Tom B from Nedlands

Couldn’t get the pencil to pair with my iPad in spite of the best efforts of the remote Apple Support team. Back to the Apple Store to replace it. Hopefully second time lucky. This is my first experience of a dud Apple product in maybe 18 years, but frustrating nonetheless.

    Apple pencil

    • Written by Kirk V from Owasso

My $120 ApplebPencil quit working after 1 1/2nhoursnof use over 2 weeks.

Now it won’t charge and I can’t find it to repair. There was a time when paying PREMIUM prices was related to RELIABILITY.

How much time of SUBSTANDARD products has to pass before its called being FLEECED.

    Lost immediately

    • Written by Trish R from Warner Robins

While I liked the new functionality of the pencil and was excited to have it attach magnetically, it didn’t stay attached when I carried my iPad in my brand new case (also purchased from apple). I owned this pencil a day and am now am buying another one, with an aftermarket case to keep from losing the pencil. I use my iPad exclusively for note taking at work...2 weeks of lost productivity and paper notepads I can’t search or organize. Great idea, but make a case that secures the pencil, or don’t make it seem the pencil is secure when attached.

    Utterly Disappointed

    • Written by Jamie G from Fairfield

While I love the new design, I never had the issue with the old one that I am having with the new one. It worked splendidly for about a month, then just out of the blue, drops connection as soon as I remove it from the dock. I have literally done everything that I can to get it to work, from reinstalling the IPAD software to forgetting and reconnecting the pencil. I am extremely disappointed in Apple. As a teacher, I have always sworn by Apple and in particular the IPAD. I have owned an IPad since their initial release, and each iteration, the quality becomes less and less. The Pencil, to me, is what set the IPad pro apart from it's competition.
Maybe there is something to this decline in Apple sales after all.
    Sincerely,
A Very disappointed Apple Certified Teacher.

    Stopped working after a month

    • Written by Jeanene I from Agoura Hills

I have been using my pencil for about a month with no issues. It holds a charge phenomenally, pairing is simple, the magnet holding to the iPad is strong. No issues...until today when in the midst of using it, it stops working. It’s paired. It’s charged. It just won’t work. I’ve tried unpairing and pairing again to no avail. With the original pencil, sometimes i would have to unscrew the nib and put it back on again. Nope didn’t work. Tried a new nib. Nope, nothing. So now I have a useless $129 stick with my name engraved.

At this point, anyone who buys an Apple product is a fool, including myself. For this reason, I am selling my iPhone XS Max, iPad Pro 3rd Gen which is almost brand new, Apple Watch 4th gen which is almost brand new as well, and my MacBook Pro. After years of questionable product and iOS releases, this stupid pencil is the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. Apple, your products are trash and I’m done. Google here I come.
