    Extremely Discomforting For my ears

    • Written by Mark M from Citrus Heights

IF YOUR GOING TO READ THIS READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW. I bought these a month ago and waited a very long 4 weeks for them to be delivered, only to be extremely disappointed with the outcome. The sound quality is just a pure and clear as the PowerBeats Wireless 3, high bass and high trebles. No problem with the sound quality whatsoever. However, the comfort is nowhere near the same. Putting these in at first felt very convincing, but after about 10 minutes of wearing them, I began to feel like something was prying my ear open. I gave them a week trying out different earbud sizes, positioning the earpiece different, and still the same result every time. I used these for working out, walking around the house, or simply just laying down, and at all positions I was still getting the same ear pain. I even tried wearing these without my glasses for an hour for 3 days, and still nothing. Went back to my old Powerbeats wireless 3 (thank god I still kept them), and wore them and instantly felt a relief of pain from wearing them. Will be returning and getting my money back, very disappointed.

Not a good product - read below and thank me later

    • Written by Thomas H from Duxbury

I am on my second pair. first pair stopped pairing with my iPhone. Guy in Apple Store finally agreed they were defective. Gave me a new set, worked for 2 weeks (warrantee period of course) not i have to repair them every few days. Hate having to drag around that huge case as if they become unpaired, its nearly impossible to get them paired again without that case. The opening of the case to pair is not a feature, but a major inconvenience. works inconsistently and requires you to have that massive case with you. Sound is just ok, not great. Pass on these - I am stuck with them now and don't use them. Back to my Senn MTW's (which are amazing)

    Not Worth the Cost

    • Written by Rasheed G from Newark

Headphones completely stopped working after 2 weeks. Took to apple for repair and no representative there can help you. They shipped out earphones for repair. Got them delivered to my home thinking that they were full fixed only to find out they mailed me back the same broken earphones. Immediately went back to Apple in Short Hills stating that they can't give me new ones would have to send back out for repairs. Would give lower rating if possible.

    Worked great for 1 min

    • Written by Matthew M from Manlius

I opened the box and they connected as advertised, I placed the pods back in the charging case to recharge them and that's the last time they would ever sync up to my phone or any device again. They are hard broke and I have to send them back in for "repair," I've never had any problems like this in my years with apple, its extremely disappointing to read many other reviews just like mine. The Powerbeats Pro are far too expensive to show up and break within 2 minutes...

    Sound Quality is subpar

    • Written by ROBERT K from Sylmar

I am getting ready to return these, I love the concept. They're intended for people with an active lifestyle, like me. They're sweat resistant and most importantly they won't fall out of my ears.

Now to the not so good and perhaps the most important, the sound quality is not what I expected in a pair of earbuds for $250 dollars. The Bass is completely absent from these, seriously. Beats have a pretty good reputation and that's the reason I made the decision to buy these.
In fairness, there is a good separation of sounds but there is no Bass whatsoever or hardly any.

Lower your expectations and do not waste your time by buying these, if you like to hear Bass in your music these are not for you.

    Returning to Apple

    • Written by Dwight S from SAN FRANCISCO

Was so excited when I learned about these and couldn't wait to order and received. The good, the fit is nice and I like not having a leash. BUT and this is a huge BUT....the sound quality is bad and gets worse when the volume is turned fully up. You have to have the volume more than 75% before you can really hear anything. Additionally, compared to the Powerbeats 3, there is absolutely no base. I will stay with the wired Powerbeats 3. While the Pro has some great features, I buy for sound quality. There is none with the Pro.

Epic music quality fail by Apple/Beats

    • Written by Michael L from Boulder

Airpods do not really stay in my ears when working out. I use the Bose Soundsport Frees for workouts and runs. I was hoping that the Powerbeats Pros would have equivalent sound, better connection, use of either earpod for phone calls and a better looking aesthetic. Unfortunately, never got through the horrible sound quality. The previous reviewer who described the sound as tinny and others that have said that the treble is painful are spot on. I tried all of the different sized ear buds. Tried many different iphone equalizer settings. But the music sound is just awful compared to the Bose. All I can think of is that they were designing the music profile for people that have damaged hearing and lack the ability to hear high frequencies . Returning these. Will try the Jabras or stick with the Bose.

Sound is wonderful , but not good for answering calls at all

    • Written by Vitelio A from Pasadena

I recently received my Powerbeats Pro and there seems to be an issue where when I get a call I click the beats button to answer and I cannot hear anyone at all. Instead the call is transferred to my phone instead of the Bluetooth Powerbeats Pro earbud . It happens constantly ! You can make calls fine with no issues and hear everything great , but when you receive a call don’t expect to hear anyone , and you’ll have to call them back . I will change my review to 5 stars when it is fixed with an update.

Returning to Apple. Can't shut them off!

    • Written by Todd M from New York

Why I'm returning these Powerbeats Pro.

I like them for exercising. They won't fall out and the sound is decent. Battery life - I get about three hours watching YouTube videos.

    What doesn't work for me....

You can't turn them off unless you put them back in its case. Poor design flaw. Here's why. I use them in bed at night. I'm wired by ethernet as I don't want the EMF's so only BlueTooth is on while watching YouTubes. As I'm falling to sleep I just want to take off and leave them nearby. I turn on airport mode to conserve iPhone battery. When you do that Powerbeats battery will drain out. I did a number of tests. Last night beats where at 33% charged. When I woke up they were 8%. Used them for another 15 minutes before they died. If you take them to work you have to drag your case with you or they will drain out.

Mic quality is just ok. Callers say it sounds like my hand is covered over the mic. Lots of bass. Picks up lots of background noise when I'm at my kids school. Callers hear kids loudly in background. My extendable boom bluetooth headset works better. So now I drag both along with me. With the beats in my pocket or jacket (case is too big to drag along) beats battles it out with this other headset. Constantly trying to be the active Bluetooth. Because you can't turn off the beats!

    Returning them to Apple.

    Poor Phone Quality

    • Written by Michael K from Darien

I like these as earphones for working out. They stay in ear well and audio quality is good. When it comes to phone calls, this is where the Beats fall woefully short. I get complaints that my call audio is poor, muffled, clicking and lots of background noise. Unacceptable for a $250 headset. Will likely return shortly

    Smooth connection, tinny sound

    • Written by Adam W from San Jose

I'm sure I'll get flamed here for saying something negative about an Apple product, but much as though I want to like these (the connection/pairing experience and iCloud sync across to my Mac and Apple Watch is so clever), the sound quality is...bleh. It's super tinny with very little meat to it without cranking the volume to the point that it almost hurts. I flipped back and forth with my old Bose Soundsports (sheesh do I hate that connecting cable) and while the sound on those is muddier, it's far less harsh and so easier to listen to for extended periods.

I guess Apple wanted to "de-Beatsify' the sound by toning down the bass, and in the end the turned the treble knob to 11. My search for comfortable AirPod alternatives continues...

sometimes they work sometimes they don't... don't expect apple to fix them

    • Written by Nicholas U from Portland

Purchased in June, the left beat stopped working two months later, for no apparent reason. I spent 30 mins wasting my time on the phone with apple. They suggested I go to the store and talk to a genius. Drove down to the store, waited 30 mins and was told it would have to be sent away to be repaired and it would take a week to fix. When I told the rep that spending $295 on headphones that only lasted 2 months and they don't have the power beats in-store and I have to wait a week to get them repaired was pretty lame. The salesperson was shocked that I wasn't happy. It just shows what has happened to Apple customer service. They just want my money and think their customers should be content with their average service.

Sound quality is less than stellar

    • Written by Keith W from Brooklyn

I ordered these right away after hearing good reviews from early You Tubers. I wanted to use them mostly for gym purposes. I have the AirPods 2 and they sound ok for what they are. Unfortunately for actual gym use the AirPods don't stay snug in my ears so I basically use them for phone calls. When these Power Beats Pro were released I thought these would be the solution for my situation. However when I received them today paired them to my phone I was shocked how lack luster the sound quality is. I've been using the Bose Free Sound Sports for the gym and although they are not perfect the sound quality blows these Power Beats Pro out of the water. I was literally laughing at the sound of the Power Beats Pros after being used to the Bose. I don't know how others feel but for $272.00 I want some amazing sound quality with full range coming from them. These have that mid to high range sound with not too much low end or high end just a lot of emphasis on mid range. You can get that kind of sound quality from a pair of wireless earbuds on Amazon for like $30. I know, I know you won't get the "H1" chip with $30 earbuds, but they will have the same sound. So for me I'm not willing to fork over an extra $240 for the convenience of that chip for $30 sound quality. I also noticed that you can't help but hit the Beats logo when putting them in your ears which stops the music and kind of got annoying real quick. But to be fair maybe with time of use you would get used to placing them in your ears without pushing the button by accident. I really can't comment on battery life because I put these things right back in the box to return them. I'm sticking with the Bose.

    So close...

    • Written by Marlow F from Roanoke

These headphones are growing on me due to fit and finish. They fit really well, stay put, and can be warn for hours without discomfort. Pairing with iPhone is seamless, battery life is awesome, and the case is durable. However...the sound quality is very clear and crisp, too crisp! Given the specs, these headphones have the capability to sound amazing.

Unfortunately, Apple provides no known way to equalize the frequencies highs, mids, and lows. There are some preset settings for Apple Music. Is that it, not other sources? The only additional "feature" that I can tell at this point is truly needed is a way to equalize the sound for the various types of users and music. If I am just ignorant and don't know how to tweak the freqs, please educate me.

Until customer sound customization is possible for all music sources, I will continue to rotate these in and out of use with the dozen or so other headphones (buds, cans, wired, wireless) that I have until I find the perfect pair. Praying for a software update or setting that allows for user controlled equalization...

As an aside, when using the Amazon Music app, the music slows down consistently when the users interacts with the lock screen. Bizarre!

Volume Issues Drive Down Otherwise Excellent Product

    • Written by Troy F from Paoli

Preordered these and have been using them since they arrived. I have PB2s and 3s and could use them at CrossFit and just about drown out the class music at about 75% volume. The PBPs at max don’t even down out someone talking loudly. I have tried multiple earbud sizes without improvement. Another example is on an airplane. The PB 2s and 3s would drown out the overhead announcements at 50-60%. The PBPs don’t at max. Fit and function are great, but Apple missed the mark with the volume.

    Sound quality is.... eh!

    • Written by Bradley J

Got these as I ride my bike to and from work and while I love my Bose SoundSport Frees, I'm always worried they are going to fly out of my ears. Thought these would be a perfect but sound does not hold a candle. I've always heard that Beats are notorious for being too bass-y and drowned out the mids. These are tinny as heck! I've tried a couple of equalizer options, no dice. I haven't used them on my ride yet and will see if they perform better at competing with road noise as they are not only far more secure on my ears but they do appear to seal better within the ear canal. But so far, not blown away, my Bose sound so much better and for about $80 less.

Everything is perfect with build and stuff but the connection and the software issues are the worst part of this product. I use this with my Samsung Galaxy S9 and there is always a problem. It's either not producing any sound or playing from only 1 side.

My go to has always been Bose.I always wanted a pair of Beats Studio Wireless Headphones but they hurt my ears. Not enough room in the ear cup .All that being said the one thing I’ve always noticed is you can never get the complete package. Connectivity Perfect!!Battery Life Perfect!!The Charging Case Perfect(ALMOST)All you complaining folks saying it’s too big stick to your AirPods!!)Here’s the big one....Sound!!!!It could be a little more balanced... A better overall Soundstage.....tone down the mids a bit. But overall......WE HAVE A WINNER HERE!!! 5 Stars if the sound was a little more balanced and a wireless charging case!!NO REALLY $250.00 and its 2019 Come on Apple Hook is up with the complete package and include a Wireless charging case...Enough said now go buy a pair!!!!!!!!
