    Explore the visual art of blackout poetry with hip-hop educator Dr. Tony Keith Jr. as we wrap up our Community Activism series. He’ll share the inspiration behind his research on hip-hop as a tool for educational leaders. You’ll learn about the aesthetics of hip-hop, including layering, flow, and performance. Then create your own blackout poem using the Procreate app on iPad with Apple Pencil.

    For sessions with amplified sound, hearing loop technology is available on request.

    Dr. Tony Keith Jr. is a spoken word poet and professor of Diversity, Culture and Hip-Hop at the University of the District of Columbia. He also volunteers for youth poetry slam competitions.
