Learn how to play traditional music with Yang Wei, artist-in-residence at the Chinese Fine Arts Society. He’ll play the pipa, also known as a Chinese lute, and you’ll get hands-on in GarageBand on iPad to play a digital version. The Sound-of-Wishes Ensemble will then perform on a trio of guzheng, a 21-stringed zither, as calligrapher Yijun Hu draws to the music using iPad and Apple Pencil.

Pipa master Yang Wei has performed for audiences throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States. He’s also toured with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma of Silkroad, formerly known as the Silk Road Project.
The Sound-of-Wishes Ensemble aims to cultivate a better understanding of Chinese culture. They also work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to raise money to support children with life-threatening diseases.
