My main use for these is as internet controlled switches. These plugs integrate straight into iOS. I have an apple tv4 and remote control from outside my network works fine. Siri commands work fine, and quickly. I like the ability to be able to switch multiple sockets on and off at once. I like the simple-but-powerful timer functionality, and especially the sunset and sunrise events which act as a photo diode substitute. Bit expensive maybe, but the potential they give for automating a whole house is incredible.

      A simple on/off switch

I am using the first as simple programmable switch to power a table lamp and replace an old unreliable electronic timer. They are quite expensive for a switch, but the convenience of being able to quickly change the on and off times make them useful. I recommend that the first time you set up timers is to use the Eve app and not the Apple HomeKit app as I had problems with the latter and the lamp not turning off when they it was supposed to. The Eve app take a bit of getting used to, but try to learn how it works and you will be successful. The only advantage of the HomeKit app at the moment is being able to set a timer at sunset and sunrise. I would like to see this feature extended to, for example, switch on at 30 minutes prior to sunset. There is no technical reason why this could not be achievable.

      Great

I waited to get one for a while because I wanted it to work with HomeKit and it was the first in the U.K. To do so.. For features and apples excellent approach to security. Setup was straightforward and fast (except my Tv see below). Reliability so far is 100%. I can use the plug with Siri, or control centre to quickly automate it. As well as the Eve App and Apples Home App. Home App scenes have a sunset / rise feature not in the Eve App btw. I really like the simplicity of the Home App combined with Siri and control centre. Only issue I encountered was with HomeKit and my Tv. In order to use HomeKit you need keychain enabled and to use two-factor authentication. When I enabled the latter on my iPad it did the same on my iPhone. But when I went to use the HomeKit app it wasn't showing my Tv as a hub. Without that you cannot automate it away from home etc. It turned out that I needed to sign out of my Tv and then sign in again, now with two-factor authentication (which was active now from turning it on with my iPad). Then it all just worked, and my Tv set itself up with the Home App. It was a bit frustrating for the two days I spent scratching my head and looking at manuals and forums Until I came across the solution for myself by trial n error. More detailed help for trouble shooting setup issues would be great. Other than that teething problem, I really like it and intend to get more. Great to be able to monitor power usage too as a bonus.

looks good but failed un under 3 months

Purchased on the 23/11/18 to replace Wemo plug to try and bring everything under HomeKit, set up great size perfect and integration to apple just what I was aft Purchased on the 23/11/18 to replace Wemo plug to try and bring everything under HomeKit, set up great size perfect and integration to apple just what I was after....however after less than three months the unit responds to HomeKit commands e.g. appears to switch on and off but the internal relay that controls the power has failed meaning the power stays on all the time. Eve support refers you to the source of purchase (apple store) and the apple store refers you to Eve....both reluctant to take ownership despite the product being under 3 months old. finally received new unit from apple after reference to consumer goods act and after 1 week same problem!!!! WEMO working perfectly 2 years in!!!

      Seriously not impressed!

Straight out of the box this unit was as dead as a dodo. Would not even power up something plugged into it, let alone be set up for homekit use. Instructions we Straight out of the box this unit was as dead as a dodo. Would not even power up something plugged into it, let alone be set up for homekit use. Instructions were equally as useless. Tells you to plug into a powered socket but shows a picture with the socket turned off. Again shows you how to reset the unit with it held in both hands away from the power socket (which I doubt would work even if the unit wasn’t dead anyway). No troubleshooting information. All in all, a costly peice of junk. Now need a 60 mile round trip to return the thing to the Apple store.
