My first impression of the LG was pretty positive.

For someone who works with video all the time or with photos, editing, it's kind of nice to have.

Colors are popping, saturation is the number one word that comes to mind.

So you have the thunderbolt 3. So you can charge the laptop over single cable which gets you extra usb-c port on the monitor.

The display panel itself is excellent - fabulous image quality. But that's it. Connecting the MBP to the display causes the MBP to freeze frequently, or not respond at all. Connected keyboards (with required USB adaptors, naturally) constantly need to be unplugged and plugged in again to work, and connecting the MBP with the lid closed while trying to wake it with an attached keyboard works maybe 1 time in 10. All in all, this is far from great and another example of Apple not giving the Mac enough time or talent.

The display intermittently goes off then on again. It also seems to forget about the attached USB3 hub (connected to the display via Apple's own USB-c to USB3 dongle) and none of the USB devices work until I disconnect and reconnect the hub. Not sure if the problems are with the display or the MBP, or both. Not a good experience.

      Not beautiful, but great

The case is boxy. But the screen is gorgeous and being able to link to a MBP with one cable is brilliant. Highly recommended.

It's even worse if you raise the height of the monitor even a little bit. The panel itself looks magnificent (which is why it gets 2 stars instead of 1) but suffers from very bad backlight bleed and image retention. Not something I expect from a £1100 monitor. I love the idea of a one cable solution, and with this being the only 5k monitor that works reliably, i'll continue to use it. Apple really dropped the ball presenting this their preferred display for the Macbook pro. I'd avoid this and look at a considerably cheaper 4k monitor (which scales rather well to the native resolution the Ultrafine 5k displays)
